Hi, I would appreciate if you could help me, the 'Run Diagnostic Scan' always appears on my screen however I have checked everything and there's nothing wrong. What should I do?
My cooling fan got really loud last summer. I thought the fan was bad so I replaced it. It ran quietly for about 2 weeks then the noise came back so I replaced the fan again and then 2 months later I replaced it a third time! In the fall the computer started shutting down due to overheating every Monday morning between 8:00 - 10:00 am. It has done this for 15 Mondays in a row which makes me think that there is a timer component somewhere. Once it is restarted it runs fine with the ever present fan noise until the next Monday morning! I replaced the hard drive last week. With the exception of programs loading a little faster, no chance in performance. Thinking about swapping out the motherboard but want to troubleshoot the BIOS first. Also, I cannot run HP Diagnostics. Diagnostics will run for about 4 - 5 minutes, fan gets loud, overheats and shut down. It also doesn't recognize the battery - saying no battery is installed but the battery works fine. I know it is time to buy a new computer but I want to solve this problem. Any ideas?
If your computer is overheating, then its most likely not a fan or HDD issue. Its most likely a CPU issue depending on where the overheating is coming from. If your vents and fan are clean an clear, and assuming there is no physical damage to the heatsink assembly, try to refresh the CPU thermal paste as seen here; th-cam.com/video/K_j4GPjpawk/w-d-xo.html. If that does not help, consider replacing the CPU and / or the Motherboard.
No errors or warnings? Just restarts? In that case, just continue with the rest of the video. We will have to wait until we try to reinstall Windows to see if the Hard Drive is bad, if it comes to that.
Check out the FAQ's on my videos next time! Could help you get an answer faster :) That means the hard drive is either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. Hi I did quick check with the hard drive and got an another error message below Smart Check: Not Installed Short DST: Not Installed Please help, what to do now
Just want to know: is this advice up to date in August, 2024? Have an HP/Microsoft/Win 11 mixed refurbished PC....it didn't come with the usual HP dx. All of a sudden when I was turning on PC today, it went to Bios screen, and I had no idea what to do. I chose not to update or change Bios, and was able to exit. I think it booted normally after that, and I've had no problems since. I wonder if it was a function key thingie, as I was pressing F9 to turn off backlit display around the same time (forgetting I had to turn on PC first!) Not sure if anything is wrong, but would like to run the dx. When I try to d/l from Web, I get out of date versions. Afraid, now, to run F2, as my function keys are all messed up; it took me a week to figure them out on this system. F2 just seems to change desktop options for me. I have been relying on Windows Update to install any HP updates; so far, that has worked well.
Yes, I would rely on Windows update to take care of that. If your computer is turning on then you should be good. Just be careful pressing Function Keys during startup as it may access different menus like BIOS. Hard to say with a custom PC
@@PC_Monkey Thank you for your prompt reply! I feel much better now. I think I rebooted since then and it was OK; also had to install some Windows updates. Who knows what's behind the mysteries of Windows?
Hello.Since yesterday when I turned my hp laptop on,it automatically goes into the hardware diagnostics mode without me pressing any buttons. And it does not give the option of scroll down, like whatever button I press,I can not scroll down or get out of it. What should I do? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Okay so... That happened to me too... 1. Shut your computer down, by holding the power button on your laptop, and then again, press the power button, everything should be back to normal. 2. So... You shut down your computer, it still doesnt turn on when you press the power button? Well, maybe your laptops battery is probably low, try to plug in the charger, and then press the power button to turn it on. I hope this helped.
Hello sir , can you help me with a non-solving problem in my HP Zbook 15G4 , please ? where the device during working (not when startup) gives a sound "one Beep" for less than a second and continues to give that short Beep regularly may be each 15 minutes or less , I really don't know what's the problem except that it appeared after installing new Hard drive (HDD for storage my files) with the old one (SSD for system data) , a maintenance person try to solve this sound problem and checked the cable joint of the HDD and told me that it's OK .. I did the Quick test as your video but no error ?? the device is working but this sound feel me that something is wrong specially it was without any sounds since buying it and along 3 years ago .
Hi, Just tell me one thing. If i shut down my laptop and open again next day, I find the battery drained by 10-15%. If I don't open my laptop for 10 days, the battery is down to zero. Is it normal? The diagnostic tests do not reveal anything abnormal.
How can I run extensive memory test for battery calibration since the process mentions selecting that whereas my computer goes straight to quick memory check after hitting memory test
It may not want to run the extensive test for some reason. Were any errors found with the Memory or Storage? What problem are you looking to troubleshoot?
@@PC_Monkey oh no worries, i was performing battery drain test as prescribed by hp service manual. But draining battery using extensive hdd scan test also worked fine .

1. It freezes and does not complete the diagnostic scan? 2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Overheating, liquid spill, Windows update, etc?

The Laptop functions perfectly with regard to performance using internet and playing movies but the screen resolution has a very unbearable brightness to it, & the colors on the screen seem to be very off! Yes I have Calibrated the Display and gone into the graphics card and adjusted the display to crazy numbers like (Red:100 for brightness, 5.0 Gamma , and agree and Blue were also adjusted to make the screen colors better but it’s far from the 1920 resolution it used to be. I did aa hard reset & a factory reset on two different occasions ....I also attached the laptop to my smart tv an external monitor and there was na resolution issues there. I’ve read this means they LCD cord can be detached? So I opened the laptops keyboard and removed and re adjusted the LCD cord .....the only outstanding thing I have not does is remove the battery inside the laptop as it might be the laptop stuck in a state of being in dark mode too long ( I did turn off the black light and all those setting of contrast) and I have not removed the screen to check if the other end of the display cord is damaged or loose, but what riddles me is that there is a permanent “Unbearable light blue tint like a mega blue light on the screen” and at times when I turn on the laptop and then proceed to restart it within 5 mins the screen still has the images of the last session on the back round as it loads .... the borders of the screen are sometimes reddish, sometimes purple sometimes blue depending on my graphics adjustment so it’s not like there’s a permanent color that’s appearing..it’s adjusting just everything looks more black and white with a blue tint than with 1920 resolution ...please help I’ve been trying to figure this out for about a month and I find it hard to believe a laptop i didn’t really rise needs to be only used on my external display...

Most likely yes, your battery needs to be replaced. Do you use your computer with a surge protector? Do you use it always plugged in to the power adapter? Either of those can harm your battery and make it die sooner than is usual.
@@akshi.b If you plug it in anytime its below 100% then its pretty much plugged in all the time huh lol. Ya, those things are pretty bad for your battery. A battery should last longer than 2 years but with no surge protector and never allowing the battery to drain down and be charged back up, 2 years is about right.

If that does not help, consider replacing the CPU and / or the Motherboard.
when i try to run a check it just takes me back to the choices

Yes, if you can see the screen enough to do the steps here. If the screen is too messed up, try plugging into an external monitor. Always here to help :)

Hey i need help with my laptop. So the keyboard isnt working but the f1-f12 keys work except f2 which is the lower brightness one. My brightness keeps going down and when i try to turn it up it keeps going down. I tried rebooting my pc and it showed me the diagnostics tool on boot which usually didnt show when booting my pc. I recently installed an AMD SMbus driver and i thought that was the problem so i used restore point to undo the driver install but the keyboard still isnt working. I also dont know why the hp diagnostics showed up on boot. It keeps popping up on boot and doesent show me any error code or something. My keyboards lights seem to light up so idk whats the problem.
If the keyboard is not working then it could be sending a false signal that activates the diagnostics every time. I would first try replacing the keyboard or using an external keyboard to try the steps seen here; th-cam.com/video/wqrchfpdJ_w/w-d-xo.html

Can you use an external / USB keyboard to try the different tests?

This happens with both the quick and extensive test?
That could mean that it cannot detect the HDD.

Hi I have an HP x360 Convertible 15n310nr Laptop, Someyears ago I used it For 6 months to watch movies & read (I recall setting it in dark mode) & never touched it until now.
