My guess is that they had her record one vocal take ahead of time that they parsed together with whatever ambient sounds they wanted in the back, including that whisper on “gold.” And not even so much that they recorded it that day; it’s likely the back track for them performing that song live so that’s just their usual live performance of that song! Super cool. And yeah I will forever have a mental jaw drop when that scream comes out of her… I need to listen to them more often 🤦🏼‍♂️ also I totalllllly get what you mean about the interest in writing style that we had and how it feels like Jinjer has managed to actually accomplish it! Crazy.

I remember this song first blowing up in the Reaction world last year. I saw it everywhere and I never understood it until I listened. I'm pretty sure my real reaction wouldn't have been as exciting since I listen to metal anyway so the screams didn't take me so much by surprise (aside from it being false chord), but it's still absolutely phenomenal vocal control.
Also they'll be at Aftershock this year so I'm super excited about that.

While Tatiana's vocals and the musicianship of the band are amazing and rightfully garners most of the attention, the lyrics are also very artistically strong. There is a level of poetry in most of their songs. Tatiana is a very skilled writer. React to "Home Back" and analyze the lyrics to see how relevant they were in 2015 and how unfortunately relevant they are today. Very good analysis of the production. (subbed)

Appreciate the sub! I'm inherently bad at listening and analyzing lyrics as a fellow drummer. I tend to listen to the instrumentals and the voice as an instrument. I have heard Home Back, but it's been a while. I'll add it to the list! Thanks for the suggestion

@@RikkyRocks0207 "Retrospection" might make a good reaction. It is a metal love letter to the parents of the band separated by touring and war.

My understanding from the video description is they primarily were recording Vlad's drumming in this. What they recorded from Tati was vocal layers to add into the album version. if you layer the album version over the live session version, most of it matches perfectly.

That was my understanding as well. I knew this song had already been released previously, and that Vlad was the main difference between the two versions. Regardless, they're all wildly talented and they blend and compliment each other so well.

Hi Rikky. Nice review. I might have an interesting recommendation for you. Have you ever listened to Nightwish? If not, you may want to check them out. They are a Finnish symphonic metal band with a Dutch singer, Floor Jansen. She has one of the best female voices in metal today. Nightwish is very diverse, none of their songs are alike. There are epic and melodic songs,, but they can also go really heavy on you and the next song could be very celtic sounding or even jazzy. Their music is exceptionally well composed and arranged. The lyrics are very powerful and poetic. Nightwish is best appreciated LIVE. Give the song ‘Ghost Love Score’ (one of the epic ones) a try. It was recorded at Wacken 2013, in front of 82 000 people. You might be surprised th-cam.com/video/47e_961OQWE/w-d-xo.html
If you prefer a heavier song, try 'Romanticide' from that same show th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html
But be warned… a reaction will probably trigger the Nightwish fans to come knocking…😊
