Loved this episode. The Solo reveal was heartbreaking. His father just wanted him to live. And I agree. Knox knew who ratted them out and he communicated it to Walker. Bernard is losing his control and doesn’t even know it.
Exactly it's a setup to see what she does. He knows it's her so fed her bad info to see what she does. He's knows Bernard uses blackmail to get what he wants like the food poisoning and knows Bernard has leverage on her with the wifey. That's no secret.
Haven't read the books, but my understanding from the series is that Steve Zahn's character, Jimmy, was never really the IT shadow. The IT shadow was someone called Solo (in an earlier episode Juliette actually finds a picture of Solo, who doesn't look anything like Jimmy and when she confronts him he goes bonkers). Basically the head of IT to save his son (Jimmy), has put him into the vault and told him to not open the door to anyone. The sheriff acidentally killed him in front of his son, and the way Jimmy dealt with this trauma was to just assume the identity of the actual IT shadow, Solo, as a coping mechanism, because in his mind Jimmy was a coward, who was too afraid to open the vault to save his dad. This way he could tell himself that he was just carrying out the duty of the IT shadow, protecting the vault by not letting anyone else into the vault instead of being a coward.
"Russell said the outside was safe" hmm. How would he know that? Or was he lying to get them to leave him alone? Or was it safe and then it wasn't like Solo said? Solo said it was a nice day and people were outside for a while. More than 3 min and without any suits. Then a cloud or fog came over them? I think we have enough here guys to piece together the safeguard. If you look at the wide shot of the exteriors of the Silos from when Jules was outside you'll notice each one is surrounded by an embankment/berm. and running around the inside of the perimeter of that berm is what appears to be a big pipeline. like one you'd see in a gas storage facility. following me? it encircles the bowl created by the berm. now if they released a heavier than air gas (like co2,argon) it would fill the bowl and try to seep into the silo if it were left open.
Now that we know there is a "51st" silo, somebody could have remotely activated Safeguard on Silo 17. I don't believe its AI, if people were outside Silo 17 for a while before the Safeguard, thats human error
i’m sick rn and Silo is one of the shows i’ve been binging, i just finished it and i was SHOCKED when i found out the last episode wasn’t out yet. loved ur analysis tho! my theory is that the door in the tunnel is a hub that let’s the server rooms in diff silos communicate, and once lukas finds it he’ll hit up solos server room
I like how they didn’t make the teens just innocent scared kids who were more scared of solo and juliett than there are of them. They had distinct personalities (and one of them is a little bit of a dick lol)
I also read it that Knox knew Walker was the mole but didn’t want to tip off Bernard. I also think that the tunnel was where Meadows was when she disappeared and explains why she’s so miserable. Another great video! Thank you! ❤
well yeah the Al told us as much. He told her what he told Lukas. it shook her. she lost hope. but when Jules made it over the hill she got her hope back.
Exactly. The big reveal that Meadows learns is that everything is a setup. All the silo was setup as a social experiment to see what the humans do. If they get out then they'll gas them to kill them off like in silo 17. Now we don't know who is doing this and why. It could be other sick humans doing it for fun as a science experiment. Or maybe aliens put humans in silos like ants in a box to study what they do.
An interesting thing that the AI voice said to Lucas Kyle was that it didn't speak to George Wilkins. I think that's because George found the door without actually having cracked the code. After all, how could he if he didn't have access to the Quinn pact, or any other information. It might not really matter, but I think the final episode will be great. The only redeeming part of Silo's season ending is Severance coming back on. As an aside, I started watching your channel about two weeks ago, since I recently rewatched Severance in preparation for season 2. I love the theories you've put together and how you've broken it down by character. Severance is the best show I've seen since Dark, which I know you've talked about before as well. It's weird and mysterious and has Twin Peaks vibes in all the right places... anyway I subbed to your channel and can't wait to keep watching your content!
That's because George isn't in the database as head of IT or judge or shadow. He's a nobody. But we don't know what happened to George. He may still be alive.
Two things I'd like to get off my chest here: 1. Solo mentioned that some people from IT decided to flood the lower levels. Knowing about the safeguard now, can we say with some certainty that they might have done this to prevent the safeguard from taking effect once activated? I believe the safeguard is a mechanism designed to restart the silo by killing everyone inside. I really hope it’s also a tunnel that either connects all the silos together or leads to the primary silo (Silo 51). 2. We can see that the legacy AI voice is present in Silo 18, and it is a very advanced AI. It seems to know not to speak to people who don’t have sufficient clearance-for example, Jorge. Perhaps that’s why Solo wasn’t able to use it in the vault, as he wasn’t the head of IT or a shadow? This is my assumption, as we can see the monitor covered with notes. His entire vault is covered in notes, which gives the impression that he wasn’t able to access the legacy archives through the tablet, so his knowledge is limited to books. Maybe that’s why the legacy AI doesn’t seem to be fully present in this silo but instead operates in the background, merely observing. What if the legacy AI is actually connected across all the silos and is just one AI controlling everything? Here’s a thought: the legacy AI might be the first to decide to communicate with Juliette to warn her that she won’t be able to return to her silo. If she tries, the legacy AI might initiate the safeguard. Hmm, still thinking about AI. What if all these silos are just a way for an advanced human civilization to train an AI model to help humans survive in these conditions? The purpose of creating such an AI could be to prepare for space exploration, where we’d rely on it for survival. Okay, I hear you. Enough internet for today. Can’t wait to see the final episode on Friday!

Their parents connected their part of the farm to the IT energy, basically stealing a bit of juice to power a small portion of the farms. It was hidden at the back of the farm to keep it looking dark from the staircase as not to draw attention of the other survivors. At the time the kids are alone, there isn't anyone else hiding in Silo 17, having killed each other out (or at least never gets out of their hiding for the protagonists to meet).
my prediction for s2e10: now that Juliet has access to a suit and the vault, she’s able to contact Lukas and plan a return to Silo 18. Mechanical revolts but learn of Juliette returning and peace befalls everyone. We get the reveal of Silo 1 and Lukas discovers more information regarding the algorithm and the safeguard.
Juliet doesn’t know that Lukas is the shadow. That all happened after she left. How can she contact him? I wonder who she can reach in silo 18 from the silo 17 vault? I wonder if Solo will be helpful.
Your prediction is in a good way....I just hope they don't change the ending of the first book cause it would be awesome to see what takes place before the events of the second book !!! 😊🎉🙏

My prediction for the finale: of course Juliette returns. It is good for the rebels and bad for Bernard. Knox lied to Walker, and Bernard will be operating on false information. Beyond that, it gets more speculative. Bernard has tricks up his sleeve, so not sure it will be total loss for him. The safeguard I'm guessing is total destruction of the Silo. Not sure what secret it's meant to hide, but probably the nature of the world... but I'm going to guess they do not reveal that in the finale, and then draw it out until next year. I am a bit frustrated with the pacing of this series, tbh. Juliette's story could have been told in 1 or 2 episodes, not freaking 9. Same with all of the other stories.
Why did the algorithm bother telling Lukas Kyle about the others who made it to the door? Or that it didn't speak to George Wilkins? If it just wanted him to go away and say nothing, giving him more breadcrumbs was probably a poor idea.
It was important to tell him and you will realize why in the last episode if they adapted exactly how the first book ended....which I hope they have 😉😎

If I recall correctly, the AI voice tells him that they will trigger the safeguard if he speaks of what he’s found down there. All he’s found is a sealed off tunnel and an AI voice, it doesn’t mention him opening the door, which I am guessing doesn’t happen because this show thrives on mystery.

I strongly suspect the finale will be the return of Juliett to Silo 18. It would literally shake the foundations of belief for all Silo members especially if she has companion. I doubt it. Eater will stay behind with the Killer. FYI, Benny is 1/2 brother to Rick and Aubrey.
Book reader here. Promise no spoilers…. Seems to me though that the show is bringing in things from the second and third books now even though the show hasn’t yet reached the end of the events of the first of the three books. Specifically what show credited the voice as “the algorithm”, and also a lot of Solo’s (Jimmy’s) backstory in Silo 17…. Half of book 2, Shift, covers Solo’s backstory from the revolt in Silo 17 when he got put into the IT vault by his father to when Jules arrives in Silo 17. With as much as of the key points of that the show has covered by way of flashbacks etc I doubt the show with cover any more of that in its last 2 seasons. The safeguard is a thing, but not something that was revealed or mentioned at all in the first book. I am confident though that the finale episode of the season will align well with the ending of the first book, and I’ll leave it at that so as not to spoil anything. I’m hopeful that seasons 3 and 4 of the show will give a full telling of at at least the other half of book 2, Shift, which is, IMO, the best part of the trilogy and which happens entirely elsewhere and at other times. Subtle Spoiler alert… That other half of Shift is a prequel that tells the story of how the Silos were created and what caused the people to start living in them, with that story being set from the year 2049 in Washington DC, essentially in “our” world. Then it follows a few key characters over CENTURIES as they work one Shift at a time running things from Silo 1 between longer stints of cryosleep, up until the events of what we have witnessed in Seasons 1 and 2. It’s riveting and honestly far more interesting than even everything the show has portrayed so far. In Book 3, Dust, that world collides with the events of Jules’ world in Silo 18/17, and we simultaneously see the thrilling events unfolding in Silo 1 and 18/17 from where the show is now forward to the conclusion of the trilogy. I HOPE the show does the other 2 books full honor by really delving into them seriously instead of using a flashback storytelling technique. And I hope too that they hire some big star acting talent to play at least a couple of those new characters’ roles next season. After all, they got Tim Robbins for seasons 1 and 2, and perhaps they could use some of that bank roll they’ll be saving in seasons 3 and 4 (😮) on some other big name(s)!
If they show us the end of book 1 in the last episode, that would be awesome as you wrote and then they can adapt book 2 and 3 in the next seasons but I would really love to see everything unfolding from the firsts book ending 😎😉
It's Mid and that is a stretch. I just spent every sunday for 10 weeks watching FROM, and every single episode I would watch at least 3 times before for the next one. "Promise no spoilers" (tells whole book series)
I really don't like the way they changed the book story for this part of the show.
They called him killer, not murderer
It's Mid and that is a stretch. I just spent every sunday for 10 weeks watching FROM, and every single episode I would watch at least 3 times before for the next one. Silo has been such a drag that I could not care less. I can hardly get through an episode, I end up not paying attention because it's so boring. Sad because season 1 was fantastic and I hear great things about the book.
It's just a recap, almost no analysis at all. I subscribed a while ago when here were lots of thoughts and theories. But now it's just an episode fast forward overview.
Bernard is being as heroic as Juliet. Just saying.
disagree
You didn't say anything that we didn't all know. Such a waste of time watching this videos🤦♂🤦♂
The pacing and writing in this season is so bad for me, I stopped watching after episodes 3. So I've just been watching your reviews instead... It just feels rushed and like it was written by a teen on wattpad :(
