NO it is famous only because it is situated in mumbai. IIT Madras, Kanpur and Delhi students also get 1crore+ salary packages. The NIRF ranks are decided based on quality research, placements and contribution in sponsorship not just 1 crore packages.
I am an international student from Ghana and I am currently studying BTech Automation & Robotics in Punjab, India. God willing, by the time I wil be finishing my BTech, I will write Aerospace GATE exams and I hope I get into an IIT. This Paradigm, I am sure of. Gradatim!
It is useless to do M.Tech from IIT as you will get only teaching job, so either do M.S from abroad or appear for GATE and apply to PSU like NTPC, ONGC, BHEL

No professor come to the lab and perform the experiments and last I checked the paper which are being published are based on the findings of the experiments to achieve the objective. Please go and visit the labs and the find out. Just blabbering won't help. FYI, phd students also have to qualify a national level exam to take admission. Better to do some googling (I won't say you're capable of doing some research) before commenting.
Guys, don't Underestimate IIT. It is not that easy. But yet, it's achievable. Reading does not mater, you have to understand what you read. That is more important. 9th graders and 10th graders should understand what they read and study for 6 hours. It is enough. As 11th graders and 12th graders, you have to read some additional books including your school books. Mathemetics, Chemistry and Physics are the subjects asked in JEE. Mtechs are placed very well, at least in IIT B, many times preferred over UGs cuz of their loyalty to the company ( UGs fly off within 1-2 yrs ).
