Those Triplets are not easy in the beginning , but once you have them down . You could do a lot of combinations . Nice lesson Brian . Excellent drumming. 😎✌️
I'm grateful that I could slow this down to half speed and really see what he's doing. And hearing him talk at half speed was like an early birthday present. This was time well spent.
I think also, when you start with the left, there is a very small delay because most of us lead with our right. This delay almost gives more of triplet sound. Leading with our right we tend to space the notes exactly as they should be giving it a more drum machine feel. IMO
that lick is lead by the left, infact the "bonham triplet" is Left right kick, alternating the right hand between floor tom and snare (stairway) or how its played in this case
brian is very astute. really passionate about his playing. and certainly bonhams, as evidenced by his devout knowledge of 'what album side or track # 'this song or that' was on. ha ha! but here's something else: he adamantly explains that, 'Bonham lead with his left"...and...maybe so. but, couldn't it be possible that this "Royal Albert Hall" show he refers to several times, to back his claim, was just one where Bonham, by chance, goofs, or got crossed-over, and ended up leading Left?
I highly doubt it. I don’t think a lick as powerful and prominently displayed such as this ends up there simply as a goof or an accidental crossover. This was Bonham’s “Thing” and he was strutting his stuff! Plus it’s the same pattern that is on the studio version... Anyhow, thx for the kind words. Look for my upcoming Breaking Down Bonham private course on my website ! We’re diggin in deep and doing it right!

Brian, much appreciated on the time you take to help us fellow drummers out.

Triplets always feel more natural with a left hand lead, like the king of the drums, Bonzo 😀
doing 365 cool bonham licks would be siccckkkkkk
Awesome
Brian you are bad ass. Closest to bohnam

I start my triplets off left handed also.
