    It is amazing how important those 3 things are. I've learned them from your courses, and it helped my game a lot. Sometimes in a match I feel like I have the right stroke, the right speed, the right ideas for a shot... but all that could be jeopardized if my mental state was off. Thanks for posting such a great video.

    • @NielsTheTerminatorFeijen
      @NielsTheTerminatorFeijen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely Olavo!! We all know how big a part the mental side of the game is, but many players don't work on that. When you combine the two things you will have a lethal package!! 💯💪 Glad you found the video and my courses useful.
      Niels!

    This probably even applies to me when I'm playing 8 ball with my uncle and my brother on my 9 foot Connelly that has shimmed pockets. I tend to beat myself up over missing a shot that A tier players and maybe even pros would consider difficult. Thanks for another great video brother, much appreciated.

      Thank you Joshi!! 🙏 Always stay humble to the game. We all miss balls sooner or later. As long as you enjoy what you are doing and keep working on your game, then you're doing the right thing 👌😀 If you are interested to know more about the mental side of the game, please check out my online courses right here: terminator-college.com/

    Neils, I watched your mental exercise video, the one were you do a hypnosis kind of thing. Well I just played in an APA regionals tournament, and it worked. I just played my game all cool and calm, not worrying about misses or what the other guy was doing. Got through 7 matches 35 games, hill-hill, last ball before the 8. After 13 1/2 hours fatigue set in. Rookie mistake, forgot to adjust for spin, 2nd place. But your mental exercise works. Thanks.

    Congratulations! Absulutely great joh! I have been struggling this year in competition. You described me to the tee in this video. I recently found out I have some lung problems, and now am convinced some of my confusion and unexplainable bad shots freezingis my breathing. The bad attitude and self abuse just naturally follows. I hold it inside. Thanks once again! Good advice! I will work on it.

    Congrats on the Big Wins! It is always a pleasure to watch you play! Thank you for another amazing video! Since watching your mental tips videos, my game has started to come back to me, I was in a 3 year slump. I started to really focus on position play, and when missing my position, it would create that mental block, and eventually a huge lack of confidence and focus.. I have since, with these tips, been able to overcome those blocks, and accept my pitfalls. Now with these new tools in mind I have stepped my game back up, and my position play has actually improved because, I am no longer questioning my abilities at the table.. Thank you! Thanks for playing pool with us today!

      Been there, done that, more times than I can remember. The breathing does help. Also, sometimes when I'm not shooting well, I play a couple good safeties, and use the balls in hand to get myself going again. Like many sports, even having an off night, you can always play good defense! Still, I've invented combinations of swear words that nobody ever heard before!

    Mannnnn…. Last night I’m playing 3 sets against a great local player …. We are both playing jam up!!! Getting out from everywhere. First set 8-7 him, then 8-7 me, then…… my break just dies!!!! After the 3rd dry break where he runs out on a wide open break by me, I was so frustrated I hammered the break much harder than I can control and the cue drew straight back into the corner… I became emotionally too involved and tried to force the issue…. And lost the last set 8-5….. very applicable video…. Thanks bud.

    Love you videos champ... What would you say is the most efficient way to maximize practice time when you only get to play for a few hours twice a week? I'm an APA player, which is just a basic amateur league... But my skills level recently went up to a 7 in 8-ball (max level) and an 8 in 9-ball (1 below max). I really need to improve on many things (pattern play, speed control, and ball pocketing)... I do those things well more often than not, but I'm not able to break and run very often. Obviously, more time on the table would help me catch up to the level of play of my peers, but my job and family make it hard to find that time. Would you recommend more drills, or playing games against myself, or playing games against better players, or hiring someone to coach me/tell me what I'm doing wrong?

      Hi there and thanks a lot for your message!
      Your question is very good. I guess a lot of us is always lacking time to do more of the things we really love.
      I think that if you have a match/tournament coming up then I would make sure to compete / get more sparring with other players, because this simulates a match situation. When you have more time without tournament/league matches coming up, it's time to work on the things you would like to improve.
      On my channel I have made a series called "Back to The Basics." You can find it right here:
      th-cam.com/video/OXDnmOOC1dg/w-d-xo.html
      Another good option is to upload one of your matches or practice sessions (drills/playing the ghost) to TH-cam and send me the link. I charge 1,5$ per minute, min. 30 minutes. Then I'll make a Personal Player Review for you!!! Very handy and effective 👌
      All the best,
      Niels

    Agree , very good tips but not always works ...I mean about inexperienced players because is about how do you earn experience , wrong or better .
    You are very good teacher😉, abd your advices are always welcome , Bravo Mr. Terminator 🤗

    Bij mij helpt een pilsje voor de wedstrijd het best tegen de zenuwen...
    Maar voor de rest wat je zegt is zeker waar en goed ook om er zo naar te kijken.
    Als het bij mij niet lekker zit in m'n hoofd dan speel ik een paar rondjes met m'n verkeerde hand ( links in dit geval ) en dan moet ik weer terug naar de basis.
    En als het dan weer wat rustiger is ga ik met verse en rustige gedachte weer verder.

    True, I always considered myself strong at that mental side of the game. I took out alot of the best players at my local billiards spot when it came down to play for money. They froze up and I'd take over.

    "If you can't play position, you play a killer safety." I find controlling the pace and angle for a safety to be considerably harder than playing position. Playing for a position window, especially in 8 ball where other balls can bail you out, means landing in an area the size of a sheet of paper for someone at my level (they don't have Fargo where I play, but I'm an average intermediate), but playing for a good safety is often playing for a spot the size of the ball itself.

    • @NielsTheTerminatorFeijen
      @NielsTheTerminatorFeijen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right Martin! Sometimes 8ball demands you to play very accurate positions 😅👌... practice, practice my friend. A good way is the put all 15 balls on the table and potting them without hitting a rail. Have fun!! 🔥💪

    LOL there are players who complain about their rolls for the next 20-25 years. Wonder who you're referring to with that one Niels??? Hahahaha. I was just watching Earl commentate a match between you and filler and it was peak earl. Just complaining about all the rolls josh was getting and how unlucky he always gets haha. Was cracking me up. I had a laugh when you said that in the video.

    NEILS FEIJEN has one of THEE most brilliant names I have ever heard ! First you have the Irish name Neil or Nial which means Passionate, Victory, Honor and Champion! ALL traits Neil possesses. Then you have the Ancient Irish Sun God pronounced the same way. KNEEL. PHI-EN. . EN means LORD i.e. Lord EN-ki . OHI is not only the Golden Ratio but is an Imaginary Phallic symbol...The HAMMAH! hahaha His parents must be very enlightened people !
