    Boat building tip: to avoid deformation, build up a hull piece by piece symetrically - not one half first, then the other half. It prevents potential warping to one side, and will also make things more even if you want to do seam corrections simply because they are fresh in your memory as you go.

    a few issues.
    1 you should apply the resin before laying down a fibreglass layer. helps stick and prevents bubbles and warping.
    2 You wore a respirator when applying the fibreglass but not even a mask when sanding it. That's how you die. Sanding Fibreglass is the most dangerous part

    • @tobycross4935
      @tobycross4935 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yea was good up to the fiberglass part, it's a must to apply resign first let dry apply a 2nd coat let dry, sand then apply a bottom coat then add the mat and glass top, people forget that the wood sucks up almost 75% of the resign meaning it will fail rather quickly.

    • @holmes1956O

    • @Jagdtyger2A
      @Jagdtyger2A 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@holmes1956O Yes, some pinholes covered over with mold release and plumbed to a compressed air supply would pop out real nice fiberglass (carbon fiber) and foam hull sections nicely using vacuum forming. By the way what happened to part 2 of this build?

  • @AdamCourville
    @AdamCourville 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Not to take away from the excellent build but if you would have used the same panels you could have eliminated the frame all together using the “stitch and glue method”. It is the same process except no frame and it is almost as strong while being much quicker to build along with approximately a 50% weight reduction!

    Great video and great designing, way better than I could ever attempt. I am currently building a stitch and glue sailing dinghy and I have a few suggestions: I am not sold on the PU glue that you used. Epoxy resin with wood flour or an additive like cel-o-fil that is designed for structural bonding and filleting would be a better choice. Also, try your hand at designing a stitch and glue hull. Instead of a frame with planks attached, bulkheads are used to add rigidity and water tight compartments for floatation. I think you could do it and would simplify the build process for any future designs.

    Great skills bro! I'd like to make an electric version for my channel. You said 3 people could fit on it, would it be possible to scale it down slightly or is the scaling joined with the design? I would 3D print the jet drive and impeller. Think it would work? 😅

    • @homemade_madness
      @homemade_madness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks man, been watching your channel for years😅 I think it could be done, best thing is to just scale the big papers, and scale them down by 15/18 (0.833) Then you can use 15 mm thick plywood for the framing (instead of 18) and all the notches will still fit perfectly😁 also a 3d printed jet drive is possible, check out DK the welder, he has some cool small jetdrive builds. Goodluck👊🏻

I just hope I can have your full or complete boat plan on my working table for in one way or another it could me help build my dreams. how to build a boat : firstly 1 design a jetski , 2 use the plans and configure to your personal choice ,3 build the jetski half way , 4 put an old boat engine to your half jetski . and finally 5 ENJOY your new boat :> man it has never been easier to get your own boat. 10/10 recommend this video

    I mean, why not 😂. I thinks it’s real cool you put the plans on your website for this jet ski. If you where here in the states I almost guarantee you wouldn’t of had an issue finding a used jet ski engine. Especially near where I live. There is always someone trying to get rid of a used jet ski. Also that is real cool how you made templates to stick right to the wood, great job bud!
