I'm binge watching all of your videos to try and hide the pain........this is the first time I've been legitimately outraged at TV since Community was cancelled.
And that is why Tornado is dependent on the Beetch-cage.

And finally, the way it could raise its self righting counterweights in victory. Its like a champion raising their arms, or a bird raising a plume of feathers.

tornado might be a god ramingbot but but ther laighter cheating cage make that team look weak and scared against razor.
razor is one of my favorites in the old show and carbide from the newer shows.
@@extec101 The thing I hated about Tornado's team with that anti-crush cage is because Razer has, time and time again, even with its then-upgrades, reliability issues and actual issues with flippers and constant aggression. Tornado, minus the cage, has massive potential in beating Razer with a vertical spinner and just ram through it and would do so much, much more convincingly compared to Pussycat. Pussycat just didn't have the speed to abuse their vertical spinner, yet it somehow won... twice... (maybe out of luck due to Razer's then-reliability issues pre-upgrade?).

tornado really was a terrible matchup for razer before they figured out the cage. He has 4 massive wheels that can easily be punctured or jammed up by razers claw

When razer fought tornado the second time tornados bar guard was total bullshit 😂 this is what happens when they fight fair.
I remember going mad as a kid when I was it. I despised Tornado after that to this day lol :D

Drillzilla was one hell of a tough machine... not even a scratch from Razer's beak. Shame they had no real weapons of their own.
it had a arm when it competed in robotica but they had to take it off due to the weight limits.

Don't see why they couldn't do Armored Core/Twisted Metal gameplay but on a smaller scale with robots like this. Flippers, flamethrowers, saw blades, hammers, etc. Would be fun to build a robot for vs play.

Judge decision may as well be a coin flip sometimes lmao, how tf did Behemoth not win? They had Razer on its back basically the whole fight and neither of Razer's grabs did any meaningful damage to their mobility or weapon.
Sometimes I wish I could see just the battles and not the little bit before hand, always cringe at being reminded how dated a lot of the jokes/pits talk was
Yeah I'll never understand why we need any of the talking before the fights for channels like this.

Blooper Sphoof don't get me wrong, I'm glad you do! Put it across badly was just commenting on how different an experience it is watching it now in 2018, I mean if I remember correctly there was even a grudge match between diotoir and firestorm because diotoir thought the team acted too 'girly'. One of the things even as a kid I realised was this was a very male led show, true shame its been scrapped just as that was looking to change with the likes of expulsion (still one of my fav teams in show to date) and the Dutch team. Keep up the good work, especially now the BBC can't be bothered!

In my opinion, for extreme at least,because it's not tournament format, I think it needs some of the backstage segments otherwise, you'd think they are battling for no reason.

No contest. Razor vs. any modern bot would get killed. Armour is too strong nowadays for them to do damage. Not to mention new motors, batteries, controllers, and reliable spinners.

@Wendy Nash, you need to be a bit more observant. At 7:50 Razor had been counted out but Pussycat kept attacking, not very sporting

12:59 "Listen to the popping of the tire!" I can't hear anything, y'know, because of the fucking music bed, piped in audience noises, and fake sound effects. Not to mention the announcer, who is 20 dB louder than anything else, not to mention profoundly annoying. The sound editing is somehow worse than the original battlebots series, and with none of the charm. Still, this is a good show, it's just that for some reason in the early 2000's, networks thought that making their shows sound really busy and fast paced would make young people want to watch them, which is a shame, because that trend did not hold up well.

I don't know what you're talking about, Johnathan Pearce and Craig Charles absolutely completed this show, I can't imagine anyone else coming in and delivering the energy (with some assistance from some Latin American stimulants) and enthusiasm while still doing the useful commentary job.

@@tombardsley3081In case you're not aware, which you might be, Tornado equipped an "anti-crusher cage" (or Cope Cage as some people call it) to their robot in both the series 6 grand final and Extreme 2 semi-final against Razer, which had been previously cleared with the judges as being a legal weapon due to a horizontal bar spinner equipped on the front of it. The cage was wide enough on all sides to prevent Razer from reaching the actual robot itself, so all it could do was crush on and latch onto the cage rather than the robot.
However, the cage was also too wide for the pit, meaning there was physically no way Razer could put Tornado in the pit because it was too wide with the cage on to fit down there, no matter which way you put it. The controversy partly stems from this inability to be pitted, being viewed by some as cheating (due to completely negating a viable method for a robot to end the fight), however other controversy arises from the fact that the cage was used at all, since it completely stopped Razer from grabbing Tornado, and the cage was only ever used against Razer, not on anyone else.
In Extreme 2, Razer was given the win by the judges, but the Razer team themselves overturned the decision and gave it to Tornado due to Razer burning out its drive motors during the fight and being immobilised but not counted out. The decision literally tore apart the Razer team, with Vinnie Blood leaving the team because of it, and Ian Lewis refusing to be there when the Razer team handed the win over to Tornado.
My personal opinion on the cage is that if it was smaller (to allow them to fit in the pit), then it would have been fine. Having deterrent weapons (like chains or rope to gum up discs/spinners) is fine (if a little not in the spirit of the sport imo) but when said deterrent actively prevents you from being placed somewhere like the pit, that's when I feel it's not sportsmanship or in the spirit of the sport and instead just putting something on out of spite just to ensure you don't lose to a particular robot. Do I wish Razer had won series 6 and extreme 2 instead of Tornado? Yes. Do I think the cage is a little bit cheaty and unsportsmanlike to use against Razer? Yes. Will I make a big fuss of it? No, what's done is done and it's not like we can change it now.
@@legodude494 the rules stated that the "anti crusher" frame was within the maximum size that a robot is allowed to be. It was a legal weapon so how can it be cheating? Changing /adapting your tactics Vs particular machines is a genuine tactic in robot wars or in any form of sports competition. See team sports with football or individual ones like tennis or boxing. Additionally, walkers that were bigger than the pit have competed in the same championships and they were allowed and not seen as cheating
