it's 2022, how this show hasn't come back since 2017 is crazy! the format for the show is setup perfect! people probably still wanna make robots to thrash each other in the good name of sport. I think the BBC (or anyone really) should bring it back... on TV/VOD at least!

My favourite episode of Robot Wars ever. The bouts between Firestorm and Wild Thing, and Tornado, Steel Avenger and King B Powerworks being highlights.
Wow, Behemot was really going to beat the fearsome Razer! Too bad it didn't cause visible damage to it. King B can be considered as a proto-Tornado. Well done Steel Avenger!
The only reason Behemoth took such little damage from hypno disc is because the disc was hitting the bucket on the far side and was effectively scratching along the front. If it had hit the bucket from the other side of the bucket i believe it would have ripped the bucket off.
Tell me about it there is this annoying as fuck sound they have used in every episode, it sounds like someone shouting woo hoo and once you hear it once you can't help notice it every damn time. The thing is they use it when people are not even cheering, it's like it's a single sound effect they have on loop or something. You hear it at 11:12 but it's not always that loud. You hear it every few seconds during the after fight interview at the last battle in the background @ 41:08 it's just overkill FFS!
I love how the pussycat team says "we beat the number 3 seed" specifically, instead of stating that they beat the higher seeded no. 2 seed just to see if they can trigger razer again. Also I love seeing pussycat get torn apart by tornado, not because it beat razer, but because this is the only time pussycat takes any significant damage to the point where it gets knocked out. Too bad the refbot was too busy to count it out.
Actually Pussycat were the 2nd seed themselves. I forget what Razer's ranking was for Series 5, but they were the reigning world championship winners at the time so maybe top 5 still

I believe when I was writing this, I thought that pussycat was referring to series 4, when razer was the #3 seed, as opposed to series 5, where hypno-disc was the #3 seed instead. Because of that, The "#2 seed" I mentioned was most likely the one from series 4, that being hypno-disc. The fact that pussycat beat the 3rd seeds of both series 4 (Razer) and series 5 (Hypno-Disc) in the same tournament (series 4) was what confused me, as well as pussycat's tendency to make fun of razer. I was just going on the assumption that the seeds for Series 5 were already known during Extreme 1, and would be the latest reference point. Just watching the two at the start, each side of the refbot, it occurred to me to wonder, if they combined forces, whether they could launch the Refbot into orbit :) Never mind, it was a great battle, but I think Chaos won it comfortably. Only thing that worried me was, it was flipping WBC so much, I thought it might run short of CO2. Firestorm and Wild Thing - more good and well-driven flippers. (I call them flippers, anyway, but 'wedges' might be more apt). That was a great tussle, narrowly won by Firestorm. And then Firestorm took on Dead Metal and Shunt - I *love* yellow robots that gratuitously attack the house thugbots :) The mayhem should be good too - Steel Avenger seems adequate, King B is good bot and Tornado is a top bot. Well, Tornado dominated as expected until it - stopped. And I think Steel Avenger, having knocked a wheel off king B, deserved its narrow win. Well, well. (They never told us why Tornado stopped though). Razer vs Behemoth. This'll be interesting. If Razer manages to get a grip, it's usually all over - but Behemoth is quite capable of scooping them up and trundling them across the arena to smash into the wall. Well, I thought Behemoth proved remarkably tough to survive a couple of attacks by Behemoth - and extremely unlucky that time ran out just as they flipped Razer a second time. I'd have to rate Behemoth as the unluckiest bot in terms of judges' decisions in the whole of Robot Wars. Pussycat vs Tornado - we've got all the top bots in this ep, haven't we? And JP babbling about Tornado's disc once again confirms his position as the most irrelevant commentator on TV. Pussycat needs its disc, Tornado doesn't. And this time Tornado didn't stop working. And Killalot caught fire - the icing on the cake! Apparently Pussycat did that - my heroes! So definitely the best episode so far.
Wheely Big Cheese didn't seem to be working well during it's fight with Chaos 2. I don't know much about robots but in my opinion the pointed part of Steel Avenger turns it sideways and prevents the ax from making contact. Behemoth did really great against Razer but it doesn't have the ability to cause damage like Razer. I wonder if it's fair to always go to the amount of damage to decide who wins?
The Behemoth team must have been pissed off with the Quarter Final Draw. There is no way they would have had Hypno Disc V Razer at this stage. The producers wanted them out.
I'm not so sure about that. At least Team Make Robotics had a chance to avenge their loss in the First World Championship, which they previously couldn't get done in the Southern Annihilator.
It was probably a random draw. We saw earlier matches with panic attack Vs firestorm . Panic attack would have beaten several of the other 1st round match losers. Same with Stinger

That's gotta be one of the nominations for best fight of the series - Wild Thing proving once more it's one of the best driven robots in the whole competition - I was a little dismissive of it at times, but all credit there. Nice little banter between King B and Tornado - I'm sure I've seen that argument somewhere on the reddit at some point. Also Steel Avenger's finest moment, fully deserved and you could see the respect they had for one another. EEEEECH... now I won't go full tinfoil on Behemoth vs Razer Round 2 (although did Shunt really interfere when Behemoth drove Razer into the CPZ?) as I do when the World Championship is brought up but... the damage mostly looked cosmetic on Behemoth. The Scoop is obviously still good enough to throw them over which for me gets aggression and style and control points - I think Behemoth should have won this one. No argument about Pussycat/Tornado - if Pussycat had literally any of the other robots in this episode (except potentially Wild Thing) it could have beat them, but a powerful box on wheels with a heavy blade is anathema to them. Pussycat was built to fight things like Chaos 2, not things like Tornado. There's a reason pushboxes are still used to this day...

Chaos 2 did (Though controversially) in the Seris 4 Grand Final, and Firestorm did in Round 2 of the Semis in Series 5. Plus King B Powerworks is pretty damn similar to Tornado, so I reckon they'd have been in with a chance too if they could stand up to the blade.
I disagree with you on the S4 grand final - I think Chaos 2 won over Pussycat fairly - but it was a close thing. And this was with the 80kg limit which C2 never really got past - remember in Real Robots magazine, he admitted all he'd done was a bigger extinguisher and dead weight to keep the nose down. Pussycat 2 has taken the full stuff so is heavier with a more powerful saw. I'll concede Firestorm though - that did in fact beat Pussycat in the semis of S5 so you're almost certainly right on that. As for King B, yes it has the same principle as Tornado, but is neither as reliable, built as strongly, or as well driven.
Gregory Atkin I'd say King Buxton was better driven than Tornado it's issue was reliability as you said. Plus King B fighting Pussycat would be more entertaining as it's a more animated and likeable machine.
I'd say the main damage point Razer got was piercing the side armour which is where the wheels go. The flip, while effective did little to damage Razer.
King Buxton KOing Tornado gives me a nice warm feeling. It's like "hey you copied our design, screw you." Tornado is basically King B without the character. Despite that I still think it's a nicely made machine just not interesting, and I am gonna say they deserved to win s6.
I might even do something to get some money in for something to do. I might even try and get some money in to go towards a trip out somewhere on the train so I'm gonna need to get some money in for doing at least ten stories for selling. Right now, I might make a list of things to do and get them done so that I can make a Work Experience Progress book and a Life Skills Progress book. I might even do something to help upgrade a robot for Robot Wars. I might even design and draw a metal munching robot. I might even send the design in for the Robot Wars club and see what happens. I might even do something good to get some money to support the Robot Wars club in finding metal munching robot designs for more Robot Wars events.

This was without a doubt the best episode of Extreme 1, all of the fights from beginning to end brilliant.
And to top it off, Killalot catching fire was hilarious

Yeah that’s the issue. Even if behemoth could get on top, damage was always seen as a higher measure when it comes to judges decisions

Obsidian Pony Tornado was one of few robots to have only one out of the arena loss.
