    Vizard has a 496 combo with 236/240* cam and TFS 280 oval port heads. 721 bhp and 711 lb-ft. Your 498 can use an even smaller cam with those big ports (106* LSA).

    635 horse is pretty good for an NA motor, even an 8-liter. And it makes like 70-80% peak torque right off idle. That's what ya gotta love about big-displacement American V8's - they're just brute strength in engine form.

  • @POTCsIronMan

    I haven't seen nearly any videos regarding engine build testing for this yet but something my father had told me that if you want to make really big power is you need to smooth out the casting surfaces inside the motor for the oil to flow better as well as opening up any return paths . I'd like to see you fellas do a comparison video of 2 identical engines except one has been ported and polished inside and then see what the numbers are then do a tear down inspecting the internals for any signs of wear .
    I'd also like to note that the same porting and polishing could be done to intake and cylinder heads be as cast or aluminum. maybe do another video comparing a diy port and polish verses off the shelf CNC heads. not sure if cnc intakes exist. Lastly , gasket matching vs not gasket matching the ports. Anyway , these are the other things i'd like to see done.
    If ya end up doing this , gimme a shout out so i know you saw my comment. Cause as someone whose planning to build an engine i'd love to know if any of the extra work i'm doing prior to assembly is actually worth doing or i am just wasting my time making the insides pretty for nothing. Thanks.

    @PowerNationTV. Nice works guys! But I have a genuine challenge for you. Either a GM series 2 3800 S/C of course (but that’s simple) OR a 4.0L L47 NORTHSTAR! The 4.0 is the one with racing pedigree and we all know how Cadillac loves to race. Can you guys build an ITB Indy style DOHC V8. The architecture of the northstar is very similar to the Atlas/family 4200, The same old small/big block builds gets really stale.

    Loved the different iterations... Would have loved to have seen what it would have made with a spacer I'm sure a racy engine will get a hood scoop of some sort... Also I think that the hp/tq curve would have looked better/flatter if you would have put the EFI back on, would make tuning it easier, better drivability, better starting, and best of all more power. Just saying 😉

    • @loganh2233
      @loganh2233 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s actually incorrect. Carburetors make a squeeze more power. Fuel from a carburetor runs through the intake and cools the intake air making a little bit more power.
      You don’t get that effect with port injection.

      Efficiency. The 2L is a more efficient engine and is therefore able to perform more work in the form of horsepower and torque with less fuel.
      Sadly this efficiency comes at the cost of simplicity and reliability because of the specific conditions the 2L is designed to operate in.
