Jay Deshpande hi Jay! Me too, the 747 is really loved by all the BA crew that are licensed to fly on it, I’m very lucky to say the least! I live near St Athan, South Wales so I sadly see them being scrapped too.
The Red of the Livery goes through the top windows but not on the model and their is spaces at the front windows for First class are spaced 2 space 2 space unlike the model.
Your content has reached a consistently high standard congratulations Paul. But how the hell do you keep the pounds off with all that airport lounge and aircraft food?
You also once mentioned a trio of refreshments served on a later flight that “saved you from having to eat dinner” when you arrived home... which I’ve never said and pretty damn sure I never will as I like food too much! Also, I’ve no-to-low self restraint. 😔😂

I love seeing this plane fly over my house on approach to YYZ I see it at about 7000-15000 feet and it’s one of the largest planes I see fly over including the KLM and Lufthansa 747-400

Your quick shot of the old BOAC livery blew my mind. As an 18-year old Yank exchange student, I flew Boston-Glasgow-Manchester on a BOAC VC10! During the descent into Manchester, I spotted a large stark-looking Victorian style building that to me looked like a Bedlam. A few hours later, I discovered that the place was my new school. All great reviews but I really felt yours gave a very balanced and factual view of the product from BA which is important as it allows the viewer to make their own decision. My impression (looking at the seat maps of BAs fleet and the words from their CEO) is that they are hoping the A350-1000 will be a high capacity work horse for them on routes where there is high demand for lower priced fares...having flown to Chennai and Bangalore (one of BAs A350 routes) on BA myself [the first time I flew to Chennai was on their old 747-200s!], I can see why [the customers for BA in those two areas really very rarely can afford to fly regularly in BAs first class]. Whilst I love your reviews, I do wish you had posted this video much closer to the time you flew. I hope I’m not the only one that will miss BA’a signature aircraft, the 747, at Heathrow. That’s how my love for flying started. Seeing BA 747s outside the Terminal 4(previous BA Terminal) windows. Will be very difficult for me to say goodbye.
This is another impeccable video & this business club seat is a vast improvement to their old club world outfit. British Airways new business club seats are a breath of fresh air & long may it continue !
The wrong thing on the model A380 was that it had 1 more extra window on the top. It has 5, is supposed to have 4. And the red thing is not going over the window but above it.
This advice about the air passenger duty has saved me a small fortune. The price from Lhr to Tlv is significantly more expensive than the inv Lhr Tlv fare. £300 each on a business return making it the same price as a PE return from LHr, less the hassle lol. So looking forward to our 2 trips in Business. I loveBA and had outstanding service from their ground staff in the uk but the service in TLV was absolutely incredible and personal. Thanks for the review and the INV info.
I love it if you land 27L or 27R at LHR since at good weather you've a wonderful view over London. Last time when I flew to London with BA I flew to LCY and back from LHR at Club Europe.
I wish to wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. Thanks for the Great Videos and keep up the great work….Cheers and Best Wishes from Canada
I feel the suite door will be a bonus when you are trying to get some sleep on a red eye flight. I find crew and other pax wandering up and down the aisle disturbs me and the door will provide a bit of a barrier.
A350 experience seems nice. Flying in World Traveler Plus on the A350 from Austin in the summer. But, nothing beats the upper deck of the 747 for me. I still and will always love the Queen of the Skies
Welcome to Canada more specifically Toronto Pearson International Airport. You will be docking at Terminal 3. Once you clear toms and collect you're baggage oh can head to the terminal link and board the UP Express to Downtown Toronto Union Station. Or feel free to use the TTC to save money. Certainly a step up from the old "new" CW seat, the food also looks better, though I have to say, unless you don't like curries, ALWAYS go for the curry option on BA or VS over anything else, it is something they always do right. I'm not sure if this is one of the Do&Co routes, but their food is always great, so with the small errors I am guessing not ???? The problems with BA have never been related to the crews, it's the management team. I have no status with BA or OW and unfortunately I was put in a position where I had to book them to get 9 of us to the UK, in J and sadly VS didn't have enough seats, so after dropping close to $40k it did stick in the throat somewhat to be asked to pay for seat assignments, until I pointed out that there were 9 of us so it is free per the BA website.
The crest ‘To Fly To Serve’ is missing .... it’s very difficult to compare BA Club with Virgin A’s Upper Class, Virgin do not have a ‘First’ product so combine first/Business together to come up with Upper Class, plus they have a funky image which is good, BA having a true ‘First’ product need to differentiate the business product so I find difficult to compare, personally I have always found the BA service excellent and Crew attentive, compared to Virgin so is my personal airline of choice,
Pauls is my fave reviewer as he likes travelling and seems like one of us. Some other reviewers seem like rich guys reviewing stuff to pass the time and I get irritated by moans about 'the first class bed not being quite wide enough' when most people will never get near business never mind First. Oh man, those shower suites are luxury compared to the old days. It used to be the only place you could get showered at Heathrow was a converted janitors closet. Of course few people knew about it, so making reservations weren’t an issue.
That popular design of reverse herring bone seat. I've always wondered why they don't do it as herring bone. That way the passenger would be next to the window, and further from the Isle for more privacy. Just remove the plastic shroud from the seat and there'd be nothing obstructing the window. The storage compartment would be between the passenger and the isle, giving privacy without the need for the gimmicky door that BA introduced.
Interesting review. I’d like to see a like for like comparison of US airlines, Middle Eastern, Asian and European airlines business class suites or products on the A350-1000...
Hi, Paul- I’m travelling on a 747 in club world to JFK in June next year and coming back to LHR on a 777 also in Club- How can I tell if the return flight is in the club suites? I’m aware that I could fly American too, but after these two flights I’ll be Silver status with BA
Great video Paul, cheers. As your up to date with aircraft, what benefit is having 2 winglets on the wings??…I know one helps to stop vortices but why 2?? I’ve notice a few craft have them now..1 up and 1 down..
for a 1-2-1 configuration A350 I don't think center storage bins are necessary. If its a 2-2-2 A350 like lufthansa sure they should have center storage bins
Oh! Is that why more and more planes seem to have taken out the individual air nozzles? I mean, I guess I should have guessed but I never think of air ventilation as an expense as such.

Thank you Paul..it is a great vid and I enjoyed your report. Finally BA has it right with the seat. The food looks mediocre to me..but I can say after a decade not flying with them..it is time to try this seat and fly with them..
Given how high APD is on business class flights does it make more financial sense to get a one-way up to Inverness and then start your long-haul from there?
Paul Spindler Yes. It’s also a nice side trip. Inverness is pleasant and there’s an airport hotel opening soon. Use Avios or take the train if you fancy a slow ride up.
Thanks for the tip, I check some random dates to NYC in Feb when I will next go and the saving are huge, PE cheaper than standard economy. I do over 50 flights a years so this has been of great help
@@paulspindler5849 Being based near London, I buy open jaw tickets from INV that end either LHR or LGW It is not as cheap as a return back to INV but still good savings made and means I can go straight home after overnight flight from USA.
It's sad that the Gallerie lounges have better choices of food at breakfast. I went to the Northern lounge in the afternoon and the choice of food was bad. The only positive thing was that I got 3 free Baileys at the lounge and 1 during the flight back to TXL.
Hello There good to see you back, a lovely perspective and great narration/commentary throughout, overall a fantastic review. P.S. good to see the future comparisons that you are planning on doing. Cheers Peter Mc 🙂
It looks as though Virgin, are finally upping their game, they have still got a way to go, but they are getting there, good to see that they are investing in all the main classes. Cheers Peter Mc 🙂
Travelling the Club Suite to NYC in February on a 777. Was lucky enough to fly the A350 to Phuket with Finnair in November in their Business Class. The A350 is a beautiful aeroplane. I'm expecting big things from this seat!! Shame however that BA have chosen to stick to their ancient fleet of 747s and 777s on their most profitable and premier route to NYC. I have a sneaky suspicion that the First Class cabins and ancient Club World product 7 abreast is the motivation. Lots of $$$$$$
Hi, Chris. I’m travelling on a 747 in club world to JFK in June next year and coming back to LHR on a 777 also in Club- How can I tell if the return flight is in the club suites?
@@logicalthinking4376 Hi. BA are slowly retrofitting some 777. At the moment it's only BA112 on the inbound from JFK but keep an eye on the seat map for your flight on seatguru.com or via the seating plan on your manage ny booking section. You're looking for the 1 2 1 arrangement. Retrofitted 777-200ER New York-Kennedy (JFK) BA173 London Heathrow (LHR) 11:20 a.m. Departure ⇒ New York (JFK) 2:05 p.m. Arrival BA112 New York (JFK) 6:30 p.m. Departure ⇒ London Heathrow (LHR) 6:30 a.m. (+1) Hope that helps.
I personally think BA stick the 747 on shorter long haul routes for fuel economy reasons. New York makes great sense as the fuel can be easily offset by ticket prices
Sorry for the z at the end of the comment. Anyway I’m flying economy & sitting at the very back of the aircraft but still looking forward to the flight thanks to your video👍👍

I fear this may start a flame war, however...
Looks like an improvement on the old business class. 😎
Given how high APD is on business class flights does it make more financial sense to get a one-way up to Inverness and then start your long-haul from there?
Using some avios it always will. I did it yearly this year and it cost be 7500 avios but saved a couple of hundred pounds.
Paul Spindler Yes. It’s also a nice side trip. Inverness is pleasant and there’s an airport hotel opening soon. Use Avios or take the train if you fancy a slow ride up.
I have taken 3 trips to USA with 3 starting in Inverness and the other from Dublin. Good savings to be made in premium economy cabin and higher.
I missed the flight summary and cost information which I normally find helpful
It's sad that the Gallerie lounges have better choices of food at breakfast. I went to the Northern lounge in the afternoon and the choice of food was bad. The only positive thing was that I got 3 free Baileys at the lounge and 1 during the flight back to TXL.
I understand that BAs American partner AA installed a standard version of that seat in their 787-9s and some 777-200s
It would be nice if you mention the engines and how noisy they for the passenger.
Paul: You do the best Belfast accent! Brillyant, so tis. (The Derry accent has more slenderized vowels - which linguists call a "vowel movement").
Hi Paul , always nice footage. Watching from Indonesia
Hello There good to see you back, a lovely perspective and great narration/commentary throughout, overall a fantastic review. P.S. good to see the future comparisons that you are planning on doing. Cheers Peter Mc 🙂
P.S. It also looks very classy and well presented, throughout. Cheers Peter
Some great panoramic view shots of the other aircraft, including the legendary Boeing 747-400, which I have flown on once. Cheers Peter
It looks as though Virgin, are finally upping their game, they have still got a way to go, but they are getting there, good to see that they are investing in all the main classes. Cheers Peter Mc 🙂
It's a beautiful Jet and a great perspective. Cheers Peter Mc 🙂
Interesting to sea the harness seat belt - this gives a 3 point system over the 2 point lap seat belt .
Retrofitted 777-200ER
New York-Kennedy (JFK)
BA173 London Heathrow (LHR) 11:20 a.m. Departure ⇒ New York (JFK) 2:05 p.m. Arrival
BA112 New York (JFK) 6:30 p.m. Departure ⇒ London Heathrow (LHR) 6:30 a.m. (+1)
Hope that helps.
Logical Thinking Check the Seat map
I personally think BA stick the 747 on shorter long haul routes for fuel economy reasons. New York makes great sense as the fuel can be easily offset by ticket prices
Paul. Do you know the number of the 2 seats on the left before you entered the premium economy cabin? They have extra legroom but also no door!
Great video Paul. I’m flying to London in February & really looking forward to flying on the A350. Z
Sorry for the z at the end of the comment. Anyway I’m flying economy & sitting at the very back of the aircraft but still looking forward to the flight thanks to your video👍👍
Steve Masters good luck
From wher?
Anime Is LIFE!!! Toronto YYZ
Steve Masters nice
Howdy, awesome trip report as always!😻😻😸
I prefer virgins upper class with the purple/pink ambient lighting
Great views of London from Inverness !! Re the 380 model...the nose is different ? Were your nuts warm ?? Pretty solid flight Paul !! They seem to be trying hard at least ! Great video as always mate and I look forward to your next adventure !!
The A350 is recently operating in the LHR to ORD route and has replaced the A380 that used to operate in the route
2:15 BA A388s only have four pairs of windows between the L1 and L2 doors. This is ofcourse where first class is located.
Great video as usual!
There's also meant to be 10 windows on the top deck, not 11 before the first door
Doctor: Lamp horse isn’t real, it can’t hurt you
Lamp horse:
Have you flown on any of the retro livery aircraft?
I've had the BEA A319 and the Negus 747 completely by chance
Btw on night flights the doors are used a lot more.
