Saw this film in '92 "by accident" when nothing else was playing that week. So glad I stumbled upon it! Now one of my all-time faves! Nothing beats the sweet and moving sincerity of this performance. The Broadway version is just way over-the-top (which is fine on stage).
Even though I prefer the broadway version, I absolutely adore this version especially the lyrics "When I dream on my own, I'm alone but I ain't lonely, for a dreamer night the only time of day"
To be honest Christian Bale's voice isn't that bad. For a guy who Also...the rodeo part of the song is some of the most fun choreography to watch, because it's a solo dance number, and it's all from Cowboy's own heart!
zarsch When it came to my town, I saw it with Ethan Steiner, but two of my friends saw it with Turner and said he was outstanding. I don't doubt it for a second, of course!
@@ceciliafaith4132 Yeah! It actually makes it sound even better because of the fact that it isnt the best! Like, come on! How do you expect some 18 year old kid with no sing coaching from 1899 to sound perfect? (BTW, that is the year the *character* was from, not the actor, just to keep yall from getting confused)
Idea Pitch: Newsies should have all three versions of Santa Fe (One sung to Crutchie, one sung to Sarah, and the last one is after "Seize The Day.") Each version represents a different aspect of Jack's personality: Hope, Loss, and Anger.
@@kevintorres6519 Dude, it's just an opinion. Yeah, Jeremy Jordan is a better singer, but I found Christian Bale to be the better of the two when it came to the actual acting.
Cecilia Faith I like Christian Bale’s performance better. Actually, I like the movie a lot better than the Broadway version. I still love the Broadway version, but it hits a lot more when you see teenage Jack Kelly. Seeing him being 17-18 instead of nearing thirty is a lot more heartbreaking in a way. Jack had to grow up on the streets of New York and seeing him be a leader to all of the other kids is heartbreaking because you know he and the other Newsies didn’t have the greatest childhood. It’s a lot more impactful seeing kids fight for their rights than young adults. But hey that’s just my opinion. Also seeing Jack being a leader but also seeing his childish desperation to get out of the sucky life of the city and his dream to live in Santa Fe really gets to me more
Toby Mueller I think it’s more about Jack dreaming about escaping his problems and compensating for his loneliness. It doesn’t matter what or where Santa Fe actually is
I don't know, I moved away from New Mexico a while ago and I miss it. I miss the mountains, snow, decent weather, and the food. If all is known was new york I'd want to go there too.
I listen to the musical version so much that I often forget how dang heartbreaking this one is...Jack Kelly, why'd you have to go and give me feels?
Christian Bale as Jack Kelly is one of the most perfect things in the world and you can't change my mind

Batman didn't have a family either....

I didn't know until last night

Why would anyone ever like the broadway version better ?

Have you seen the new one with Turner Birthisel?
zarsch When it came to my town, I saw it with Ethan Steiner, but two of my friends saw it with Turner and said he was outstanding. I don't doubt it for a second, of course!

Everyone is saying Christian Bale can’t sing, but I mean, come on.😍
RIGHT?? My sister keeps saying how much she hates his voice, but quite frankly, I don't think it's the BEST, but I still like it a lot. :)

Such a beautiful song! =D
