Great choice for the winch - just installed one recently on my build as well

winch controller is a direct copy of a warn winch controller they're good a simple on off on toggle switch that's easily replaced. winch itself looks like a kings deluxe with some styling differences. which is good they hold up well with the main issues being the control box and isolator. also pays to pull the gear side off any new winch and grease the planetary gears as i've never come across a winch brand yet that didn't put more than just a light brush of grease on the gear teeth.

I covered my winch control box with a piece of off-cut leather for weather and water splash protection. I was going to fit it inside the engine bay but it works well where it is after 4 years. 👍🏻🙏🦘

FYI On a trip I tested my winch just before heading out and the winch did not work, sadly I had to go home. I found that the type of isolator you have to be at fault and switched it for a TJM. Secondly, yeah, winding your rope straight to the drum looks pretty but there is a huge risk of bind up if not retracted well. Can easily happen on a trip if using the winch often. I always cross the rope after the first 8 turns as I spool in and never have had a bind problem. yes I did bind up when I first started using my winch years ago.

Thanks for the info! I think removing my isolator on the track will be achievable should it give up..

Hi Mark, did you have a opportunity to test the winch? I'm interested in it because of the weight. Thanks in advance for any information. Jiri

I think it was $2000..? Can't find the receipt, however there is an Aus supplier with prices on the site. 4x4outdoortouring or something like that..
