I came back to the game around a week and a half ago, got the the helm enchant almost immediately. It's widely accessible so you should definitely use it as anyone looking to replicate this should get the item incredibly quickly.
I’m a 3k Guardian Druid. The best way to judge your performance is 1.) Did you time the key? 2.) How many deaths were preventable by you? 3.) Do you regularly miss or overcap mob %? 4.) Use Warcraft logs, but don’t look at you damage you do. Look at you CD usage. Like “I could have used Barkskin here, or Natures Vigil here, to help the group more” Remember, you’re a tank. So your job is to keep the group as safe and comfortable as possible
hey dont want to bother you but as a newby druid i have a question - normally i do raids and did my ksm with rogue and unholy DK, so basically i'm a full DPS main. But i want to play druid soooo bad xD is the guardian a good spec for pushing around 20-25 keys? or do you more recommend to heal or even play boomkin? and what should i take care off as a guardian druid? i hope you understand my questions, english is not my main language >_> have a nice day
@@MarkusDBurner Boomkin is always gonna probably be the easiest spec to get into for M+ since it’s basically 3-4 buttons However guardian is probably the easier of the tanks to get into, as it’s only a few buttons as well. Guardian is good, not as good as last season. But still ultra competitive
Enjoying the videos man, it's cool seeing you climb and improve, you're already making a lot less mistakes and making good progress towards 3k I'm back again with my unsolicited advice though. Big wall of tips this time. Probably most important is consecration uptime. I'm sure you already know your consecration is a pretty significant damage reduction that you should be standing inside as close to 100% of the time as you can, but prot pally defensiveness is tuned around having this buff all the time and it's hard to overstate how fast you will get melted without it, particularly against magic and dots. If you're not in consecration, usually the most important thing you can do is cast it or move into it. At the very least you want to have it up for every tankbuster or you will get destroyed like at 12:59 and 14:22. This might not seem like that big a deal since you do have it up most of the time but notably every time you died in this video you were not in consecration. This is also why prot pally has such a hard time with Oakheart in Darkheart Thicket, he lifts you out of your consecration during the throw. Second tip would be to use a plater profile that shows you more useful information, gold standard for M+ is a profile that colour codes the nameplates of mobs based on what abilities they have like frontals, casts, or stops, plater can also change the look of the enemy castbar to more easily distinguish between kickable, stoppable, or unstoppable casts. For example you mention using divine toll to group the pull at 10:10, I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure divine toll does not help much for grouping here as the only silenceable cast in this hallway is the drain life on the felhound. You can use your brain to remember this information instead and do just fine but offloading that sort of task onto your UI frees up your mind a little to focus on other things and that's pretty powerful especially when you're trying to learn a new spec or role. Prot pally is kind of at the mercy of your group for keeping this pack stacked up, there's not much you can do except try to stop as many drink potion casts as you can with hoj and blinding light, you can also use those on the scavengers when they spin to cancel it and they'll stop beyblading away to 1 shot your dps and come back to you but it's probably more valuable to stop the fire breaths at that point in the pull. Another thing that's very useful is to have the nameplates of the mob change colour based on threat, this is actually invaluable as any role but as a tank it's even more important, I've noticed sometimes in these videos that there are loose mobs and even bosses swinging at your dps and with your UI there's almost no way to know that this is happening besides actually seeing the mob turn and hit them which is pretty much impossible in a big pull. (For example at 3:45 it looks like your dh is taking the casts the ruiners usually spam on the tank and when you silence one it just goes and autos him to death, it's hard to see but after he dies you get the combat text "Attacking You" because you were the next highest threat target) Sometimes dps are just gonna get threat and die and it's not always your fault but usually there is something you can do about it if you can see it happening early. Ideally you'd want to use divine toll once mobs are already grouped for the extra damage but in a pug you won't reliably have dps waiting to do damage or helping you kick casters at range into the pack so it's a good use to try go into a pack like this with lots of spread casters with an early divine toll that'll help a lot with early threat and grouping. It's usually worth it to save divine toll towards the end of a pack so that you have it going into the next one if you know you need it for burst threat and grouping. Might be overstressing this by now but showing threat somehow on nameplates will also help you when you pop bubble with final stand, since this taunts everything within 15 yards but using bubble will actually cause you to instantly lose threat on all targets that aren't within 15 that yard taunt and the range can be deceptively small (I think this is why Oakheart decides to rotate 90 degrees and clap your DH when you bubble at 5:00 but I'm honestly not sure what's going on there, I'm thinking you got thrown out of range) regardless, it's worth knowing what you have threat on and what you don't as in a higher key getting melee'd like this as a dps is just death. -Sources: I have pugged to 3k on a tank. I have made every mistake a tank can make 1000 times. I'm kinda ok on prot pally. I have more tanking tips, thoughts on judging performance and UI, and knowledge on talent swaps that I'm happy to share (you can probably tell I have absolutely nothing better to do) but this is getting to be way too long of a read. If you or anyone else actually reads all this and wants to hear more I'll share more np.
I am going to look into seeing what I can do about the threat situation since there has been a few dps deaths to that and should be a simple fix. As for consecration that is definitely one core mechanic that I need to work on mainly when big tank busters are coming because I have gotten a bit better when it comes to trash packs. Thanks for the insight and letting me know I am not alone in the mistakes and troubles I am running into. I appreciate the help big time!
hey man great series so far cant wait for the next episode! dont beat yourself up over the ToTT keys its rough for tanks esp the 3rd boss. A good next step would be to adapt your route in terms of the CD's of ur Dps and yourself. For example you have ur big defensive and 2 Dps their CD's maybe its worth to pull 2 packs. That is something you will need to do in the future anyway. Since DPS brain just pop their cd anyway :D
As a tank only player, I personally look at my Heals To Self vs Damage Taken and Heals Revieved, Damage Mitigated and also Overhealing. Utility use (Depending on class) and lastly is damage. Normally for pug groups I focus on self healing so the healer can heal the rest of the group heavier incase, normally I am on par with healing as the healer if I have a class that has self healing.
For me, a good way to see how well i did in a dungeon run is to look at the "damage taken", "interupts used" and healing recieved" tabs on you details menu
For Chronikar, the first boss in Galakronds fall, he always does the tank buster right after puddles, so you leave your concentration and get blasted by his ability. For tanking prot paladin usually the first thing you can largely improve is your uptime inside concentration, it's super important this season with the 4-set, you most likely need a weakura to track that.
The biggest thing to track at the end of your run is your active mitigation auras, on my warrior at the end of the run I’ll check my uptime on ip and sb…. I think the pallys is called resolute defender but I’m not 100% on that so check your uptimes
I’ve read about the wrist craft that has versatility on it. This is something that when it procs it goes on whole party. I haven’t checked Paladins need for this, but on 3 classes I’ve played with all of them had it as a good option or BIS.
In the most recent video I mentioned that I was basically considering the wrists or shadowflame bracers but not sure which to go for. Maybe even lariat
For grouping as a pally there arent really to many options. But as a rule of thumb with juming mobs as long as you have agro they will cpme back to wherever you are. So there really is no need to run arpund and chase them. I did the same thing lol...... Tbf i still do it every once in a while when i fall in to full panic mode
For BRH, unless you're a VDH or DK, there is no way for you to really group the Scavengers. How you grouped them at first in the beginning of the pull was perfect. Nothing else you can really do once they start beyblading or jumping around. You can craft Frostfire Legguards but I'm lazy and don't wanna get the materials, so I crafted the Primal Molten Sabatons instead. I'm littered with Trinkets, so I use the Trinket from the first boss in raid and I use Stonescales. You can use Stonescales and Rezan's gleaming eye for for DPS, but if you want a more defensive trinket that's on-use and very good, you can get the Leaf of the Ancient Protectors from EB. It has Mastery with a damage absorb that gives you a bunch of Vers when it expires and it has a 1 min CD, but you have to be specced into Holy Paladin to loot it. At Ozumat, I would stand on the opposite side of where the part is, so they can drop puddles closer to each other and you're not blocking their path or area. After you get the frontal, swoop back around to your party so you can get the ads that spawn all with the party so they can cleave them down. Your talents are perfect, and I wouldn't make any adjustments unless it's Incorporeal week and you talent into turn evil, but it is a cast, so you'll use it as a last resort if you party can't get them.
I'm glad that I wasn't missing something for the BRH pull. I will try this next time I do Throne of the Tides since I didn't know if there was anything I could improve to help the puddles
On logs, I go to damage taken, click ehrps (effective healing required per second) then look at the mitigation column. Pally should be 88%+. Re cheat death: I don't like it. It only works if you die. Otherwise it's not even there. I prefer leaf of the ancient protector as a defensive trinket. Mastery plus shield, short cd, can be used on others if you don't need it.
I completed the quest on my main and when I was doing either LFR or normal I went to the same NPC who is right behind where you kill Igira and talked to them to get the quest which was I was about to turn in right away
Hey, i neticed you move away from the adds quite often during your keys which might be because of sanguine but I've seen you move away even when there's no pool and that makes you lose some good damage on the adds, try to calculate your movements better so that you can perform better in your keys
Use "turn evil" for incorporeal. I mever see any tanks other than BM monks helping with incorp. And all the time with out fail there always one or more that go off because there wasnt enough hard cc
Maybe you already fixed it, in the last video you did not use hand of freedom in everbloom to get rid of the stacks of the flowers, you should def do that!
So this season there is tracks for gear that allow you to upgrade it to a certain item level with crests and flightstones as currency. Myth track currently goes from 480 to 489. The main ways to get it are from Mythic raiding or completing a +18 or above and then opening up your vault on the next weekly reset. I hope this helps!

True, I think saving them even if it means I having worse gear for now is currently my preferred choice since I will likely need them if I want to have good enough gear to reach 3k
How I measure success when tanking is how smooth the run went. Did everyone live? Was the pace steady but manageable? I like to stack defensive stats and use defensive trinkets as much as possible and ignore damage output completely. Be as invincible as possible and it makes every run so much smoother. Just fulfill the role and focus only on doing the role the best way possible.
I agree that they are a lot more accurate on dps than tanks/healers. It is common for those roles to running a lot different trinkets or talents in high keys which is my preferred method for finding out what gear to go for
