    I’ve had my my late 2015 ST-3 from new and it’s been absolutely fantastic to use daily!, like you say, interior kind of gets rattled round a lot, but it’s such a good car!! Won’t be parting with it for a very long time!

    I bought my 2016 one 2 years ago. The illuminated door sill on the driver's side stopped working after 3 months. Replacing it would cost around £200, so I never bothered. I agree about the rock chips too, they're just terrible (and the brake dust too). Other than that, solid little car, I love mine to bits. I love the hard suspension too, as it keeps me awake and focused even on long journeys. :D

    Good vid 👍. I ran my spirit blue 2015 for around 60k as a driving school car (unusual choice, I know). Best car I ever had. Issues were the rear lights needing new bulbs regularly, as you mentioned. And leaky tyre valves (a known issue) which was a constant recurring problem. Other than that, it was super reliable and an absolute joy to own.

    I've had transmission issues on my car, both times requiring a rebuild. Euro spec 2013 Molten Orange Fiesta ST. Built in March 2013. At least the first rebuild was covered under the extended warranty. I've also had misfire issues twice, the first time it occurred, the dealer struggled for a week as they could not get any error codes on the ECU, eventually they narrowed it down to a coil/plug.
    The second time misfire issue, which was a month ago, tried replacing the plugs since they were almost due (180k km service), but one of the plugs snapped inside the head... Yeah, theres not much hope for it other than drilling it out, which I am doing now at a local workshop. Head will need to come off, and while they're at it, we will do a full recon. Timing belt and water pump too.

    I bought mine 8 years ago too. It’s a 1.6tdci. I have had all 4 door locks fail at some point, lots of inconvenience like rain inside the car.
    I also had drive shaft seal fail, clutch master cylinder fail, it once shut down and refused to start up on some code to do with DPF. Ever since then it hesistes when accelerating. Ford dealership can’t find anything wrong
    Oh. Also it came from factory with a problem of letting water into the boot during rain, leading to rotten smells

    I have 2014 FiST which I still own from new. At 62k KMs the piston in cylinder No.1 cracked around the ringlands. Replaced engine with one from a 2016 car. Has been fine since then. Zero other problems but I still doubt it's long term reliability. It's essential to change oil every 7500kms and all other fluids on time or before.
    Have removed spare tire, tools, rear and passenger seat for a 70kg saving. Gives the car much added pep and vigour. It's a hoot!
    Also fitted wavetrack ATB LSD. Just Wow! Forget power upgrades.

    Had mine 15 months now. Biggest issue was finding a brake setup that didn’t squeal after doing 1000 miles. Had no issues with standard Ford setup but wanted more stopping power as it’s stage 3. Finally settled on Tarox F2000 discs with EBC yellow stuff pads.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for big feedback! Big brake kit or and any upgraded discs and pads for sure is a must. Although the stock brakes are quite fun to use you can tell they are cheap brakes unfortunately 🤔

    • @AdamC_fst
      @AdamC_fst 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SamAustin yeah the stock discs and pads are fine for normal driving but tend to overheat and suffer from fade but that’s down to brake fluid as much as anything. I’ve upgraded to DOT 4 racing fluid. Keeps working to over 300°c. This combined with the Tarox discs and EBC pads are enough for me. Money no object I’d go for a Big Brake Kit obviously but for now I’m more than happy with them. Just pray they don’t start making any noise 😂.

    My 2013 has transmission problems, i thought maybe an oil change would do it but still theres this issue trying to find a gear, runs at 3k going 60 mph, no idea why its running so hard. The other day i pulled on my door handle and it literally broke off. The whole plastic with the screw still on side. Back tires constantly are leaking air, key fob doesnt work i have to continuously press the button and put the fob in random places around the car just to start it. As soon as i bought it started having these problems. Thought it was a good car at first but actually it is a terrible car for a daily driver. Ive only put 10k on it, and the most recent problem is when i first bought the car it said 35mpg, now when i turn it on it says random number, 22.7mpg, 12mpg, currently it says 6mpg. I am panicking. I plan on moving to texas next month and i am not sure if it will make it honestly. It is modern, nice on the inside but honestly i do not recommend this car if you travel around. Very terrible car in my opinion. Do i take it back to the dealership and request a trade? Seeing dollar signs on my car currently

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry to hear about your issues with yours! I would say they are great cars but more of a toy for the weekend rather than a daily driver. I drove mine for 4 Years and 40,000miles from brand new as a daily.....I really took care of the car but I noticed so many rattles and the infotainment just not working to name a few of the problems creeping in. I think it is a car built to a budget (Hence its low price). For your own situation it depends if have warranty on the car in which case the dealer should be liable to fix these problems. Otherwise, I would say selling maybe your best option otherwise you might just end up digging into a further money pit in the future. All the best on your move to Texas in the US 👍

      @@carnifex2173 I've been going back and forth in regards to buying a MK7 Fiesta ST. I think it's an awesome car, and perhaps I'll still end up getting one, but the thing that puts me off the ST is how they're a thief magnets.
      I've seen about 2 big TH-cam channels (ST enthusiasts) where their ST has been stolen, or attempted to be stolen (smashed window with the OBD port mangled) as well as many forums where owners have had the same thing happen. One of the TH-cam channels was a by Welshman (Blue ST), the other was a geezer from Essex (highly modded, grey, 330'ish BHP ST), I think "B7 TMY" is his TH-cam name I think. It seems like, if you don't have a garage (off road parking). You'll need to install an aftermarket engine immobilizer, relocate the OBD port and use a yellow steering wheel lock (as a visual deterrent for thieves).
      Other then that, I think I could find workarounds in regards to most, if not all things mentioned in this video.
      If you're looking to get one of these ST's I think they're worth every penny, as it out performs its competition, and it even seems way more reliable than its competitors too, especially the 208 GTi.

    Do you rotate the tires? The shops and owners manuals in America always act like it is absolutely necessary and I believed that for 45 years. One day I took my wife's car to the shop in Germany and they acted like I had two heads when I suggested a tire rotation.
    So in your country, do people just keep replacing the fronts as they wear out or do the swap them front to back after a certain amount of miles/km's?

    • @lloydieization
      @lloydieization 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some folks (older) know about tire rotation in the UK, but you make more reoccurring money if you keep selling tires rather than extending there life, also a lot of UK housing is pre car, and post car most governing bodies were anti car! This mean most would have do tire rotations on the street/road or in a parking lot, as many UK homes don't have a driveway, garage (generally so tiny at any rate, I have a garage, when inside my car (Fiesta) door can barely open 12 inches!!) or even allocated parking, so its not very convenient do said change. Lastly its (was?) a sign of male pride in America (and the Caribbean were I'm originally from) knowing how to change a tire/oil etc... but I suspect most modern Brits would struggle to change washer fluid let alone tires ;-)
