I remember when this song and album came out and he was so loved and successful. The Jazz world turned on him, called him a "sell out" and all that shit. What a crock. Who's laughing now?
@@dtoad5576Too bad Modern Actual Jazz is so bad it’s no wonder why nobody listens to that junk, They try so hard to sound like the originals, instead of trying something new, like they originals did
This is fabulous. Looks like his original guitar he used back in the 70’s and 80’s. And I’m willing to bet he can still skate too 😃. Love George Benson. Takes me back to a simpler time🙏❤️
Never realized how tough playing guitar was until I took it up a few years ago. As a result I've acquired a bad back along with intermittent muscle spasms. The very fact that Mr. Benson was performing like this at the age of 70 is truly phenomenal.
I know what you mean. Though I just love Benson’s guitar, it’s a tough beast to play on long live sets standing up. My MIJ Strat is one of my go-to live guitars because of how light and comfortable it is to play.
Great tune and major Artist. We tried with my friend from R&O to review this great song. We let you be the judge if you get the 3 minutes. I would love your views on our cover : th-cam.com/video/HNIEl5Uoe5M/w-d-xo.html
A man who was nominated 25 times for Grammy and won 10, can't never be called underrated! Just a genius whom at his golden days could play and sing a huge variety of styles as a master in all of them. 76 years old in 2020 and still playing and singing every now and then, that's not for everyone!
My favorite all time jazz performer, and one of my top 3 guitarist of all time! I found out about George Benson in 1976, when I was 14 years old. I have grown up listening to and enjoying the Magic that is George Beson. I was fortunate to have seen him and Al Jarreau in concert in September of 2007, front row center in Tucson, AZ. I was 15 feet away from the stage. That was a night to remember! Thank you Mr. George Benson!!!
Mon idole ❤George ♥️Incroyable guitariste fantastique artiste !!!Et quelle voix !!!❤George a bercé mon adolescence avec toutes ces chansons magnifiques ❤I love You George ♥️
Give Me The Night. ABSOLUTELY A TIMELESS CLASSIC. George Benson in my opinion is the only musician in his day who could bring the FIRE from three different angles!!! The 1st ( R&B ). 2nd ( Jazz ). 3rd ( a fusion of R&B and Jazz ). There will never be another!!! Like my brother ( George Benson ).
Thank you Mr Benson for you brought music into my life. I first heard this song when I was 12 years old and it was magic!!! That's how I fall in love with soul jazz music , black music in general. 🙏❤️
I've been listening to this man's amazing music some more than well since 1976 even found his old recordings on the CTI label when it was George Benson quartet and he blew my mind first concert Hofstra University 1977 tickets 48th row Center Stage 6 bucks each. Total silence while this genius played someone yelled out make it long and make it sweet Benson answer "are you ready to go home". He meant was that his Encore song have not been played for an hour and 45 minutes he stood holding that jazz guitar mesmerizing me. I've owned every single recording of his music and to this day it not only calms me, makes me cry, makes me glad but I'm always impressed by the genius with which he expresses himself in music. I've been fortunate enough to see him two more times in concert last and 4th chance he was in Tampa the tickets were over $100 and couldn't afford to go so instead I sat here and played his records CDs tapes whatever I had in the order they were released and hadbmy own concert. He's now I believe 72 or 73 and still as impressive as he was when I was 26 years old and it just discovered him. Now a new generation is hearing his music and learning to appreciate the Brilliance of this man, as he unlocked the Glory of his music when my world goes upside down. so thank you Mr. George Benson you have been one of the joys of my live, a healer and an inspiration. You set the bar high for other musicians and you skill still gives me pleasure. So thank you for a great many years of pleasure. Just an FYI the song Cell Phone I discovered just after my husband passec away. You hot all the right parts if my heart, had to pul, over and cry, i hadn't until tnen. So you started mh healing. I often wonder how many others h ave had similar reactions. So I thsnks you for th e joy you've adcec to my life. God please keep blessing this amszing man.
George is George!! A jazz legend!!! Seeing him live is amazing. All negative comments should be voided...let me see you do what he does at his age and still has sell out crowds!!
Stupendous. I saw him live in London. Can never forget. Fantastic singer; and what a guitarist - if you haven't already, you MUST hear him play 'Weekend in L.A .'
I had his posters all over my room when I was 13 and that was 40 yrs ago. Yep he's still GOOD LOOKING TO ME!!!!AND CAN STILL PLAY THAT GUITAR,SING, AND SKATTTTT!!!! REAL MUSIC👏🏾👏🏾

Perfect comment! And he never listened to those who tried to put his artistry in any 1 label only box. And certainly true music listeners around the world are so thankful for that decision- 5 decades + later.

George Benson is the greatest genius of Harmonic Jazz. To make Jazz so attractive is a feat. Well done! Bravo!
I remember when this song and album came out and he was so loved and successful. The Jazz world turned on him, called him a "sell out" and all that shit. What a crock. Who's laughing now?
To be fair, he did say he wanted some money..still, he's feckin awesome!
Well this shit is NOT jazz
So as long as he wasn't trying to pretend it was then sure he can do his thing with no criticism
But he definitely is self obsessed and arrogant
His talents could have been well used in modern jazz instead of whatever this is
@@dtoad5576Too bad Modern Actual Jazz is so bad it’s no wonder why nobody listens to that junk, They try so hard to sound like the originals, instead of trying something new, like they originals did

Thank God for giving us George Benson. Best wishes from Indonesia.

Bad posture will do that to you. Gotta lift and do back exercises to keep your back strong, especially against uneven weight due to guitars.

@@talaris-uk As a bassist I feel you, and then some lol
I usually sit when I play now, especially because some guitars like old Les Pauls are heavy as shit.
And 10 years after your post, he's doing this in his 80's !
Mr. George Benson hasn’t lost a step. He is still a grand musician.
Wow 70 years old and still smokin'
My uncle was smoking until 86. Okay, it was different kind of smoking.
You right sis, he had this!
He looks so healthy and fit btw
He's about 95 now, dude. I wonder if he's still smokin' ?
