    One thing I would add, The first time to court is terrifying. Mine was a low level battery in juvenile court and I stressed many nights about it. Saying things like, "due to my training and experience" felt disingenuous. Over time, as you get more confidence in the job, it becomes easier. Just review your paperwork and make sure you know what your case is about. Also, meetings with the Prosecutor (or Deputy Prosecutor) the one trying the case, is very helpful, just be honest if they ask you on the stand if you have and what you discussed. They will never do anything illegal that you wouldn't be able to disclose on the stand.

    In our department, if we get a supena, we call the DA and tell them to put us on “telephone standby” so if they actually want us in court, they will call us. Typically though they will tell us upfront if they actually want us in court and talk us through everything.

      tom chang well I have multiple pieces of paper with that word on it, so I don’t feel the need to learn how to spell it. Haha

      Allow me to interpret. "I sir Brandon. Endowed by the king and knighted by her highness, pledges thy honor to be ordained only by God, and that with thy honor, till kingdom come, what is done in heaven, shall be done on earth, will commit to never learning how to spell subpoena, for it is unnecessary. Spell check and random discards of the papers shall aid me."

    I hate going to court and being a drug agent I spent quit a bit of time in court dealing with drug arrests. It’s definitely not fun also some advice to any new fellow drug agents if you don’t have a department issued body camera I recommend you go get a personal one because you are gonna be accused of planting drugs and having video evidence to the contrary is very helpful.

    This video gave me an idea with the waiting around comment. You should make a video called "Why being a Cop sucks" and go over all the unexpected parts of the job that don't get glorified in television but are still important even if they aren't exciting.

    My friend gets 4 hours pay every time he is subpoenad to court. He thinks it's hilarious when people subpoena him for a very minor traffic ticket thinking they're wasting his time. The judge nearly ALWAYS makes them pay his 4 hours of overtime in restitution for subpoenaing something so minor to "get back" at a cop, even if he's only there for 20 minutes lmao.

      In our jusrisdiction, they always schedule night shift officers to have court on their days off. That being said, sometimes the DA/attorney will continue a case, and it'll just end up being on a day you work. So you get buddy fucked either way.

    I have a zoom court meeting coming up for reckless driving In Wayne county Michigan my lawyer states it will most likely be reduced to 2 points will the police officer show up and if so does he have any say on the case or is the ticket he have me the only criteria for the judge to make his or her decision

    Does this mean that on any given day there are a ton of police officers somewhere in the court house in case security needs back up? I mean I assume if you have to wait that you get to sit on some sort of break room.
    I always wondered when I went to court (as a law student) in my own time about how the limited number of security officers would handle a disruption. Obviously in high profile trials, there will be plenty of security but if a disruption broke out randomly it did not seem like there was sufficient security to handle someone who was physically strong. I mean I saw maybe one or two security guards in the court. Presumably if a random tough guy started trouble they would call for help rather security in another court room - but then that court room has no security...
    I just never got the impression there was sufficient security to deal with anyone other than a angry teenager... I did not see police officers around often.

    What is the job of a security attendant in a traffic division office? where I live the traffic division office is separate from the actual court building, in fact the the small city/county superior court has 3 court buildings.

    Question not related to the video: in a rollover automobile accident, what are the chances that everybody in the vehicle will lose their telephones, broken or simply flown away? Even people who are not using them do not generally have them stowed securely.

    1, Curious that you never stated part of your job in court is to tell the truth.
    2, I don't know what state you're in, but to be an expert witness you need to be certified as such by the court. You're not an expert in anything just because you're a cop.

    • @freefieldtraining

      +chrissy26 I change it up depending on when I'm working and what the case is. If it is a homicide trial I wear a suit. Prelims, traffic court, DUI trials I wear my uniform.

    • @freefieldtraining

    That's so friggin' inefficient. Why can't the court dudes just give you a precise time and date for your testimony? You appear at court do the testimony and then get back to work. If they need another testimony they just recall you for another date?

    What’s your Opinion on level 3 steel plate protection vs level 4 ceramic style protection against rifle threats?
    Am I mistaken to believe that while the level 3 will not protect you against the higher caliber rifle rounds that level 4 does, you’ll still have an edge over level 4 protection bc level 3 steel is not compromised/damaged as badly as the level 4 ceramic style once its hit?
    In short, is it better to opt for level 3 steel under the belief that you’ll be able to withstand a greater number of hits from rifles than a level 4 ceramic style plate?

    • @jobdylan5782
      @jobdylan5782 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ceramic is going to get destroyed. If I'm correct, that's by design; to break up the round to lessen impact on the under-layer. Look it up, don't take my opinion on life/death matters.

    • @bencunningham6298

      They'll never label lvl 4 as being able to take multiple hits but as seen in a previous video on FFT they can. They do blow apart but that's hot they work. If you're worried about surviving multiple rounds of the most common rifle type i'd go with a 3 plus armor. The 3 plus I own is rated up to .308 AP, multiple hits. IMO lvl 3 plus is the most practical to buy when it comes to rifle plates. Obviously it's not bad to own both if you have the money to replace them every so many years.

    • @Anon62796
      @Anon62796 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ben Cunningham yeah I share the same opinion. I know AR500 steel makes really good 3+ plates but out of all the soft body armor I’ve seen, I like safe life defense. Thanks man
