    After fighting a Medusa (badly), this looks even more impressive.

    lol every single problem I had with my orbits was addressed by this video, thanks so much for the video

    Great informative video CMDR. My biggest problem is (as you point out) thrusting down and not using laterals to balance the orbit. So (and again as you state) practice, practice, practice needed. Many thanks and o7 Dude

    Are you using keyboard and mouse? Can you share with me how to setup your keys? If I fly with FA off, there are too many keys to press for me. And the aim is too hard to be stabilized.

      Very uncommon but ... I fly mouse and throttle. Make sure you have yaw on mouse (not roll!) and enable relative mouse for use in FA off!

    Silly question here, in case I don't have a HOTAS, Is it better to play with controller or KB+M?
    I have like a 300 hours of play with KB+M but now that I'm going to learn FAO I was a little dubious

      All control schemes can work. Euan killed 8 Hydras with an XBOX controller. I’ve done Eagle vs Hydra with Keyboard+Mouse and Sidey vs Hydra was Throttle and Mouse of all things. So really personal preference.

    I would like to learn the settings to pilot in FA-OFF mode, since I activate it and I cannot center it like in the video

    Thanks you for video, I found answers to exact questions I had. I just started to hunt basilisks and they showed my that my orbiting isnt as good as I beleived :D Even tho I managed to kill basilisk several times usually it was pretty messy. So what I did wrong - I pretty much held down thrust all time, as you said is not necessary so should I stay in optimal speed range to maintain proper orbit? And another thing was goid rearming manouevere, I think I've never heard to boost after him when he does that. So you saying I can try orbiting on cyclops? Are all interceptors have same speed during orbiting?

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many questions … let me try to break them down.
      A) Is orbiting in the “blue throttle speed zone” better? - YES
      B) Can I “boost chase” a goid rearm? YES; although you’ll want to use the initial part of the boost to reduce your lateral velocity or you will “swing past it”; Tapping FA On briefly can help with that
      C) Do all goids have the same speed? NO; basilisk (530) is faster than the others (450)

    • @MrSmartman23
      @MrSmartman23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Astyrrean c) Thats their top (chasing speed) right, but during close combat are they the same in relation of speed and manueverability? I wondering if its a viable option to train orbiting on cyclops or it won't matter with stronger goids?

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrSmartman23 A cyclops, for orbiting, is a great training for Dusa and, to an extent, Hydra (Hydra rearm cycle is just much shorter). Basi flies a bit different and has a much longer rearm cycle on top.

      @@Astyrrean Thanks for response :) so I tried to implement your advices and now killing basilisk pretty consistently, I've got 5/5 yesterday without retreating or rebuying :) but still have troubles during reload phase with boost I'm overshooting and without can't keep up to him, especially it hurts when heart is exposed and he starting to fly away :'( Anyway , thanks for your help, good hunting cmdr o7

      @@MrSmartman23 Try tapping FA/On briefly before boosting at it - then tapping it off again once you're moving straight towards it. Another strategy is to drop your landing gear or cargo scoop to "cap" your boost speed and avoiding swinging past it.

    Do you use a hotas? I’m trying to figure out best how to laterally thrust towards the thargoid with a controller and are you in standard flight controls or alternate?

    Great video but I cant work out in my head what you mean by 'thrust forward and counter motion'

    • @Astyrrean
      @Astyrrean  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the goid is moving left-to-right (goid trail is leaving the screen on left end of the screen), thrust left. And vice-versa.
