    Just found your video. I live on Capitol Hill. You walked by my apartment building. Surprised you walked all of the way to Trader Joes! Typical Seattle winter. Most people in Seattle do not use umbrellas, just a light jacket with a hood. Looking forward to your next video!

    I live in the Capitol Hill area and love watching the two of you discover and enjoy Seattle. I first came here 20 years ago and was very pleasantly surprised by the natural beauty around the city, the food choices, so many things to do and the very positive vibe with people, particularly in the service industry. Now I tend to take it for granted but thank you for showing it through your fresh eyes. I'll be in HNL soon, which is my favorite go-to for our lack of Seattle sun in the winter!

    I read somewhere that Seattle has the most ice cream eaters, not just in the summer. Wild, huh? I was cold right along with you, Amanda! And so jealous you both got to eat at two popular eateries; living vicariously through you, as usual. I never knew there was a Starbucks roastery; looks like you got to have your almondine croissant, Italian style, yum.
    When I lived downtown, the bus in the city would be free. But I'd usually walk to and from my temp job up in Capitol Hill for the view. OMG, the hill! Almost everything there now wasn't there before (1990s), lots of new spots.
    Yeah, it pretty much rains all the time most of the year. The worst for me was carrying groceries or toting a gift and trying not to let it get wet. Oh wait, it was standing in the rain during my son's soccer matches. One time, there was a monsoon at West Seattle, LOL. Can't wait for the next vlog!

    Seattle is my hometown, but I live in Honolulu. Salt n' Straw is PDX-based; next time try Seattle's own Molly Moon (three blocks away) - their coffee ice cream is tops and in the fall they usually have roasted peaches ice cream. Also, on your next trip try some Ethiopian food; Seattle welcomed many refugees from Ethiopia and Somalia back in the 80s and you'll find great Ethiopian fare in the Central District. And, since you're big on Sbux there's a newer shop inside the graduate library at the University of Washington (upstairs is the famous Hogwarts-like study area); you can get there by light rail.

    That Trader Joe's Green Goddess spice is excellent to give a crust over layers of powdered garlic, ginger and turmeric in equal parts as a rib on fish or chicken. I deglaze with the TJ Miso Broth., fresh lemon juice and yummy yummy. I use to sell to the original TJ near L.A. fifty years ago. It is still my favorite store.

    Fun video but just a couple of notes for the future... Xi’an Noodles features biang biang noodles from Xi’an (the capital of China’s Shaanxi province), so it's considered Shaanxi cuisine not Sichuan cuisine. But the flavor profiles can be somewhat similar. Good cannolis are best filled as ordered. Otherwise they get soggy and lose their crackly crispness. Looking forward to seeing what other Seattle spots you end up checking out.

    Yeah. walking from downtown to Capital Hill is a CLIMB! I'm impressed you guys did that. I had a friend who was a bike messenger in Seattle and his thighs got super jacked. lol. I used to live on Capitol Hill, and I would always take the bus from downtown because I'm super weak sauce.
    And OH MY GOD, I have had that Xi'an restaurant on my "want to go to" list for a long time! (It is not Szechuan style, btw. It is Shaanxi style. But no worries since those two provinces are right next to each other.) As you might recall I lived in Xi'an for a long time, and I really miss the food. Biang Biang Noodles is my jam!

You may also wanna go to the major casinos at Tulalip and EQC! Also Portland is 2.5 hour drive south and they have awesome foodie places too, along with mass transit.

    Very true that the people in Seattle are friendly. Here's an example of how friendly they are. I worked in San Francisco for over 25 years. In all that time of riding in the elevator with fellow employees, not one greeting from anyone unless it was someone I knew personally. Whenever I was in our Seattle branch office, I would get greeting in the elevators from the Seattle employees all the time. Our Salt Lake and Portland branches were just like Seattle, friendly people.
    Mahalo for this video, it brought back many good memories of the food and people in Seattle.

    We visit Washington twice a year, my daughter lives in Olympia area and we avoid Seattle, lol. I’ll go if we’re watching a Mariners or Seahawks game or if we take someone in our party who’s never been there. In Pike’s Place Market, you have to get the smoke salmon, you’ll find it in one of the fish vendors. I’m also a fan of “Thirteen Coins” restaurant. They have the deep fried oysters, I’ve been to the one in Seattle and SeaTac. As for hotels, stay at Silver Cloud Inn, we stay at the one right across the Stadium or our favorite is in Mukulteo, they have Diamond Knot Brewery ther also, there’s a ferry there that takes you to Widbey Island. Also, go to Everette and eat at Anthony’s, they have the best and award winning chowder. If you like collectibles, go to Funko Pop main headquarters. And lastly if you like to gamble, Tulalip Hotel and Casino in Marysville, awesome restaurants

    This is not meant to be a criticism, but as a Seattle local, and after watching a lot of "visiting Seattle" videos, I kind of wish there were local guides to help people find more of our out of the way places, the kind of places that are hard to find out about, despite your best research. Your spots are good choices though. But I tend to see tourists going to the same places. I guess if you're staying downtown, it can be a little bit of a trip to find your way to Ballard Avenue, Georgetown, or even the Chinatown International district. But maybe you will.

      Agreed 100%.
      There are waaaaaay more options than just Pike Place, Starbucks and Downtown Seattle.
      Get out and explore!
      Ballard, Fremont, University District, Rainier Beach, West Seattle, Northgate, International District, Sodo, Queen Anne, South Lake Union.
      There are way better options than Starbucks to get cheaper and better coffee (Seattle has 2 cat cafeés. One on Capitol Hill and one in Wallingford)
      Support local businesses that have suffered during/after the pandemic.
      We continue to lose local favorite shops, bars and hang-outs because of low sales and foot traffic.
      Research, research, research. Support local, please. Spread the word :)
      Happy travels.

    Seattle was a great city but man me and my girl went during the summer and it was brutal. Was expecting cool weather but it was consistently 90+ degrees for the whole week we stayed there. The temperature + all the up hill walking + no AC in buildings was rough. Would love to come back in the spring or fall season.
    If you guys have time check out downtown bellevue! About 15-20 min. East of Seattle. The downtown park is dope and there’s a big shopping mall next to it.

    Seattle is built on a large hill that's why they have the underground city tour. Lots of the old buildings the first floor is under ground and they had to build the city up one level because of flooding. Because of this flooding the toilets would back up hill.

    • @scotkamimae2531
      @scotkamimae2531 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually built on 4 hills. Except they levelled one hill to create the Denny Regrade area, which is north of Olive Street. All of that dirt was moved down to the area south of Dearborn Street and where the stadiums are located.

    I guess we forgot to tell you about the hills. And downtown Seattle. Hard to find parking so good you didn't rent a car.

    My son is a manager at Starbucks Roastery and lIves in the condo right behind the Roastery, so we are very familiar with the Capitol Hill and the food in the area. We love the food there.

    Starbucks started in Seattle, just fyi. It's not the actual temp that makes it cold, it's the rainfall, the dampness. We moved to a dryer climate in Nevada.

    The Roastery isn't technically Capitol Hill, and it does get steeper as you go up Pike Street.
    You guys need to head to the International District and eat at the OG Chinese and Japanese restaurants.

    • @EricaGamet

      I would definitely call it Capitol Hill (I live right nearby)... Pike is considered the dividing line between CH and First Hill... and it's east of I-5... what neighborhood would you consider it?

    • @scotkamimae2531
      @scotkamimae2531 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricaGamet That's what the city determined the dividing line years ago. If the freeway wasn't there it would still be part of downtown, which my father always complained about. He said the freeway cut right through a great area of homes and businesses.
      I consider Belmont to be the western border of Capitol Hill.

    How is the homeless situation in Seattle and Capitol Hill area former CHOP district from a couple years ago?

    • @CoggieCarol
      @CoggieCarol ปีที่แล้ว

      My husband gigs in Seattle every few months and he says it's bad around 3rd Ave. and Pike, but then it's always bad down there. You can see the homeless camps up the sides of I-5.
