Terrific! Been trying to see this in its correct format like this for ages, and all I could find was an unwatchable cropped 4:3 version. Thank you! This has now put me in the mood for another terrific spy thriller: The Quiller Memorandum, 1966, which is on TH-cam and well worth watching!
great little movie, Assignment K, also known as Department K, if they named it Preparation K I still would have watched it....Stephen Boyd was such a good actor to watch....at several scenes in the movie, he almost looked like Roger Moore in a James Bond moment.
I was 16 when this came out. Austria and Germany were exactly like they are portrayed in this film. England was more "swinging" but Austria and (many parts of) Germany generally looked far more, clean, ordered, tidy and elegant. Even at 16, I could see that England was headed to become a bit of a dump. It's heyday was between 1963 and 1969. Come the early 70s, it seemed to take a rapid downturn. Now, London and many parts of England look like middens.
This almost reminds me of the ski scenes in The Pink Panther, and it was shot just a few years after. Stephen Boyd (real name Billy Millar) was in major films like Ben Hur. Another spy flick he did several years before this one is: The Man Who Never Was, based on a true spy story from World War II.
Thank you, I’ve been looking for this movie for decades, since the opening scene with a Barbie Doll was my only memory of watching it in my toddler years ❤
Man, back in the early 1960s in Hungary, it seems like one out of every 5 British tourists was an MI6 spy. The cops busted on right in our apartment building in Buda.
What a cast! Nerdy laugh from Boyd, very nice music, Sir Micheal redgrave, beautiful Swedes! What a gem of a film, that makes forget the plot (there is a plot deep inside). A hip, mod, great film. And in case you are wondering, that tall blond spy, with the red ski, is Jeremy Kemp, the German General Streck in Top Secret! LOVE THE FILM. DON'T MISS IT. Hope that there is a better resolution copy, somewhere. Edit: Found it in Bluray!

The plot meanders from dull beginning to dull end with nothing of interest in between."[5]

A James Bond type of a ski chase -- this ain't. Interesting how they filmed the ski gondola and ski sequence at the same Austrian town where they filmed the gondola sequence in the same year for "Where Eagles Dare." Overall, this is basically a B-minus flick. Photography is okay, script is worthless, acting is direly lacking. During some of the dialog scenes, the music is so loud you hear no discourse. Like I said -- a B-minus. Did I hear anyone holler "C-plus"?
Sadly this beautiful scene is spoilt at 20:52 as Boyd follows the drama school rule and does a completely unnatural ‘always-turn-to-face-the-camera’ move instead of just turning his head to the left.
I was excited at first to find this channel when I seen how many videos were here......then realized that few full movies are here and mostly just worthless little clips. No good!
Fairly good original sound track, the ski track parts were not particularly interesting, except the light parade at night. The storytelling only develops slowly and isn't terribly surprising. You'll watch till the end, it's a bit too silly to be serious, and too serious or not silly enough to be James Bond. A level movies would include The spy who came in from the cold, IPCRESS file (for quite different reasons), The Naked Runner etc. This one I'd rate a good B movie, nothing more nothing less. But then again I might be prejudiced because one of the ladies in the beginning of the movie said something not very flattering about bald men. She prefered the hairy cardboard one in stead of the pleasant bald man. Women... :0))) They'll never learn.
'Learn'? they don't need to learn anything since deception is wired fundamentally into their personalities. These pictures were deliberately made in a '60s 'hip' way: if you want to see real crap, see the Matt Helm and Frank Sinatra efforts.
I'M not a Stephen Boyd fan. CERTAINLY NOT IN THIS KIND OF FILM. HE'S MORE SUITED FOR THE OLD BIBLICAL FILMS, as a Roman soldier/gladiator such as Ben Hur,just like Charlton Heston, he looks out of place wearing a suit, unless it's made of armour, or cowboy clothing

Lovely old film. A world gone by and a time gone away.
Stephen Boyd another favorite! Thank you for this!
Possibly the best definition version of this film on YT, and the best format too! Well done!

Its all gone very bad sad and yes germany was great even in 1989 up to 2000 s

Your welcome and thank you for your service.
😊🎉🎉🎉
Never seen it. A shame
Fantastic. Thanks guys.
Yeah, Barbie was a lot hotter back then before she got fat!
What a great film. Thank you!
Good to see Boyd in a leading role. Looks like he healed up nicely 10 years after being run over by Ben Hur's chariot.
I love how the old woman doesn't even get a head shot when she speaks but the young girl gets one while the old lady speaks instead.
Male director & cinematographer.
This is a lot of fun. The 'time capsule' is fab!
1st time seeing this. IMHO one of the best of this genre of films I have seen. Good sound and lighting and very believable characters,👏👏
Beautiful movies...all european actors. Awesome
One of my favorite spy movies. An excellent cast.
Steven Boyd would have been a good James Bond.
Great film!!! Thank you so much.
This is a great spy movie, full of fantastic actors.
TY 4 upload.

It was more like one in four in East Germany
The trick was not to be a Pest...

Really enjoyed this film. Love the fashions, cars and sets. Thank you.
Never heard of it or any of the actors. Enjoyed it, and it kept me guessing.
Great film with an excellent twist at the end...

Amazingly harsh review
I’d love to see the reviews from all old movies before watching
This was a lot like a James Bond movie except without 007 but all the main spy characters are there.
Poor Steven Boyd.... he had less than a decade to live after this.... having died of a massive coronary in 1977.
Poor you
Good movie!
The doll Barbie....miss Camila sparv. 2024.🇬🇧🇦🇹🇩🇪👌
A little disappointed that Philip lost a fist fight to Mr. Bean at 56 minutes....

Excellent entertainment. If Putin ever steps down, he can play the bad guy in such a movie.
I remember seeing this one when it was first released. Kind of mediocre, but pretty locations and Camilla Sparv was always nice to watch.
Looks magical

Stupid assessment. It was very good, very well done. And not all clichees.
Thanks for uploading
Good film love the music like Steve boyd😊

to the left.
Stephen Boyd should have been Richard Burton...and vice-versa
Careful you might end up with Richard Boyd and Stephen Burton with confusing orders for these frivolous three Greek Fates.
Refreshing movie
Stephen Boyd was a great actor.
Camilla Sparv had little to do but look alluring and she did so exquisitely.
Phillip: Hello 👋
Outstanding.....
This💯 is a good movie🎥🍿
Before Leo was number 2.
This film WAS No. 2.
52:36 tough break hero. Pleasant dreams...
“Grown men playing cops and robbers…” is accurately the problem. They don’t grow up do they?
Fun movie.
1967.
52:34; "Nnnglaugh...""
Best line of the movie.
Smoking in a hospital. They were quite short of data... 🤭
wait a min, in the ski buying scene the sales man was really trying to push plastic skis as "luxury"?? lol
We tried, but could not finish this one. Too much skiing; not enough espionage.
Nestrov Spase USA Bul Bul is good man
Is this a spy movie or a travel documentary?
The original Bond novels were both.
Superbe 👍
I was excited at first to find this channel when I seen how many videos were here......then realized that few full movies are here and mostly just worthless little clips. No good!
Surprise - it’s Robinson Crusoe!
Paul siegler the scene were he wakes up in hospital bed after crash is it the actor who played Robinson crusoe in the 60s tv series :?
Yes, Robert Hoffman.
Brief Description: Nothing much actually hr. Random scenes of nothing happening at all are edited together
The music is terrible. They had so many good composers in the sixties. Why use Basil Kirchin?
51:40 Jane Merrow.....
Nestrov Spase El Salvador Bul Bul is a good man
Who about prepration H.. watching from planet hemorid..
He's a rubbish agent when he didn't even knows he was under surveillance.

I can think of no other story involving totally independent agents, and the "other side" was never identified in particular.
'Learn'? they don't need to learn anything since deception is wired fundamentally into their personalities.

CHARADE look a like?
That has to be the worst haircut ever that Stephen Boyd got in his whole life.
La traducción es PESIMA!!?
Nestrov Spase Great Britain Bul Bul is bad man
Hotel Bayerischerhof
sorry about the ending

You are clearly a blinkered idiot fixated with stereotypes.
Nestrov Spase Kosovo Bul Bul is a good man
F
This is a dreadful knock-off of James Bond
Awful ! Stilted 60s acting with a crap plot and dialogue . Wasted 31:36 minutes of my life !
Nestrov Spase Albania Bul Bul is a bad man
Wow. she is fabulous, and I do not like svelte women.
Stephen Boyd was the second most dislikable British actor of the 1950s and 60s. Laurence Harvey has first place.
Poor Steven Boyd.... he had less than a decade to live after this.... having died of a massive coronary in 1977.
@@KK-qc5ct not a big innings but will live indefinitely on the silver screen

I didn't notice loud music, the acting was somewhat cardboard yes and the laughter of the lead actor somewhat silly. B without a plus or minus.
You're too generous: go on and give it a 'Z double minus.
