I'm part of the Subnautica crowd and think you're doing great. I'm glad to have found your channel. The calm vibes and quiet humor without a lot of dramatic characterization is perfect. (And singleplayer to keep things calm.) So many people that I've watched have transitioned into doing multiplayer and streaming as they've gotten more popular, and that always loses me. Multiplayer is too chaotic, and streams are too much about responding to interruptions from chat. You're just a dude having fun on his own and letting us tag along; that's what's appealing.
The best example I can think of to explain the vibe that I like about your videos is one of the most recent Subnautica episodes when you built a chair and sat in it. You didn't even have to say anything. You just built the chair, sat down, leaned back in your irl chair and looked at the camera with a look that said, "Here we are. We're sitting. I'm confident now. Goal accomplished." That was perfection. It's little moments like that which make gaming fun, and getting to see your moments is what I'm here for.
You're one of only 3 let's players that I'm currently subscribed to. The others are Splitsie and Many A True Nerd. Splitsie does great Space Engineers videos, but he's going down that road of transitioning entirely into multiplayer and streaming. Many A True Nerd does lots of random stuff, but mostly singleplayer or co-op with his partner. He's rather energetic, though, so I don't watch him a whole lot. I was enjoying watching Symbalily play Tears of the Kingdom, but she seems to have dropped that and now focuses on games with a horror vibe that doesn't appeal to me; I gave up on her a few months ago. You currently fit my preferences better than anyone else I've run across so far.
I'm not interested in Tunic, but I'm looking forward to seeing what other games you choose to play in the future which might offer more opportunity for commenting without feeling like I have to avoid spoiling things. Subnautica kind of begs for lack of outside interaction during its first playthrough.
Ahaha well I have no intention of transitioning to multiplayer or streaming any time soon, if that can reassure you 😅 I'm glad you enjoyed my sitting! Thank you for watching!!

I bet it's gonna reach new eyeballs, I'm in the Outer Wilds communities of all sorts, and people eat those up. I might even watch it myself.
Pro Tip: Have you considered shorts? I've heard cutting a clip of a funny or impactful moment and publishing it as a short helps reach more subs too, with a much lower time investment.
It's a secret to everybody! I hope you'll watch it, I'm having a lot of fun seeing these moments again myself! what a journey it was! 😄

First, congrats on your success with the Subnautica videos! It's apparent you put a lot of effort into the videos - editing, equipment, etc. - and even if you like it, it's still a lot of work, so only the best for you, man! May the sub-scribers (sorry) keep coming!

English is my second language as well, and I totally get the fatigue from thinking & talking in another language all day! As a fact, I almost always have the dictionary open in another tab while writing comments. Also, annoying side effect: I now sometimes forget words in my mother tongue and have to look up the translation from English. 😵💫
Try not to worry about being awkward (easier said than done, I know), I think most people are looking for someone they can relate to, not someone who makes the "perfect" video - I mean, are there perfect videos? For what it's worth, I don't think you're awkward, you're just a chill dude playing videogames. 😊I watched some of Mapocolops' content one or two years ago and it's really nice to see there are more calm & collected & analytical playthroughs emerging in contrast to the loud & shouty "HEEEEY TH-cam!" kinda content.
Keep it up as long as it's fun to do, looking forward to new Subnautica/Tunic episodes and to whatever you decide to play next!

I just recently found you through your Outer Wilds playthrough, and I have been binging your videos of Outer Wilds and other games ever since! I started watching since outer wilds, also loved the walking dead series :) and really enjoying subnautica now! I'm really excited for an outer wilds super cut, I'd totally rewatch it that way! I was just watching another one for someone else and it's a great way to rewatch a series without committing to the whole thing a second time. For the option for shorter but more frequent videos a week, I think either option works fine, so up to you :) I think viewers will adapt easily enough. Looking forward to Detroit become human!

Regarding the nice comments you get while not feeling like you're really _that_ funny or whatever: I think people don't expect anything exceptional, they just want relatable. I want a regular chill person playing the game I like, or a game I wouldn't play myself but would enjoy watching a friend play.
You've previously said that you don't watch many playthroughs yourself, so maybe you struggle to put yourself in the shoes of this sort of audience to judge your own content? I've heard many times the advice to make stuff that you yourself would want to watch, which always sounded kinda vague to me, and I've never seen any hard data in support of it, but maybe one way in which it's useful is to give you intuitive guidelines in terms of quality and expectations. This isn't really a recommendation or criticism or anything, it's just something that came to mind.
Yeah that makes sense! I think it's just hard to perceive yourself from the outside in general, yknow? like we're so used to being who we are, hearing ourselves, thinking our own thoughts, that it's difficult to really know how others perceive us, do they think what we have to say is interesting or funny? Who knows? Especially with youtube, because I make this content without really getting to see my audience's reaction directly (other than in comments) it's harder to know what works or doesn't, so all you can really do is be yourself and hope that somehow people are into that! 😅

Our preferences in music intersected on SOAD, cool!) Regarding music from games, I absolutely agree, OST's from Hollow Knight, or Death Stranding are incredible masterpieces, music from Outer Wilds, of course, is forever in my heart too. Film music is also of great importance in my life, such as the work of Hans Zimmer.

So I found you because I'm a fellow content creator playing Subnautica. I wanted to see how other people blindly played the game (I'm way further than you so it was no spoilers) Watching you really made me rethink the way I play. You went very slow, read everything immediately and seemed very thorough. I was in a rush early game and unfortunately struggled later because of it. You've done great and definitely deserve the attention your channel is getting.
Green Hell was also suggested to me and I've recently started it. It's a bit brutal for a survival game. Picture the concept of Subnautica but you're in the jungle. It forces you to survive on your own and explore in able to progress the story. The save function is definitely your friend lol. I had a rough start but to a point now where I'm really enjoying myself. If you enjoy Subnautica it's definitely one to think about. Enjoyed the Q&A. Take care man.

I've watched video game playthroughs for years now and only came across your channel recently alongside the Subnautica crowd, and it was such a nice surprise! You've quickly become my favourite lets player, I love your videos they always make me laugh and resonate with me in a way that is so unique compared to any other playthroughs I've watched before. I've been binging some of your older series like Stray, Last of Us II and Outer Wilds! Really loving the tunic series too, and am excited for everything to come! :D

My most favorite moment of surprise from your OW LP was in the DLC when you have figured out 2 of 3 [redacted] and you have to find your way through [redacted] and then "Heart-shattering realization" :D like brain explosion. Probably the biggest dopamine drip of knowledge (© Bricky's review of the DLC) from videogame history =)

I completely understand with having to use a second language a lot. Your English is fantastic! But never any pressure to do live streams or otherwise unless you're comfortable in doing so. My second language is Japanese and I couldn't imagine doing long form content in Japanese, so the fact you do it in English is amazing to me haha.
Your type of games fit me perfectly so I'm excited to see where it goes! I definitely misread the question on the video format. I'll watch any videos you put out personally, but I've been loving the long-form videos you put out. But rereading your question the three a week would also be wonderful!
My favorite video game is a tie. One is for nostalgia, and one is just my favorite haha. Shining Force 2 on the Sega Genesis has been my favorite for forever, and then I also love Hollow Knight. Bloodborne and Baldur's Gate 3 are also up there. I can't wait to see you play Detroit Become Human! I also hope you play Disco Elysium at some point!
Overall I'm so excited I found your channel and have been slowly binging all of your videos. I found you from Subnautica and then fell in love with your let's play style while watching Papers Please!

The fact that you aren't too over the top is definitely a bonus. When I am watching YT it is after work and I am trying to relax. So too much high energy and shouting does not help. 😂
Whoever mentioned Cool Spot, wow! I forgot about that one. I remember renting it from a video store when I was a child. Independent shop, before there was Blockbuster Video and such things. Weird to think how it's all gone, because on streaming services it's impossible to find older movies and shows. :(

I miss video rental stores too! such a different era that lives only in our memory... the excitement of browsing in person and trying to choose what game you'd get lost into for the weekend.... I'm glad we got to experience it at least
Like you said, speaking a language is like using a new muscle, it does get easier over time thankfully!
I may try out the 3 videos a week, it's just a matter of figuring out a schedule and making sure I have the time! I think people who voted against it in the poll likely thought I was gonna do less content overall but it would actually be more!

Couldn,t agree more on Mapocolops, he's got a nice energy and he's a very insightful player. Question: saw you put Dishonored on your list of fave games, have you played Prey? Another question, have you ever played played a Kojima game (the Metal Gear series, Death Stranding).
Haven't played Prey yet, but I look forward to it! and I've played most of the Metal Gear Solid games, and watched a Death Stranding LP

I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited for Silksong, but there is a small issue with it, which is that EVERYONE on youtube will be playing it on release, and I'll likely get lost amongst an ocean of Let's Plays... So I think what I might do is wait for a while before getting to it, to give more time for people who've watched it recently!

Hi Lukael! Regarding imposter syndrome: The majority of us who follow you don't follow because you make a lot of progress each episode, or because you're the cookie cutter outgoing gamer. We like you because you are incredibly thoughtful about each game you play and a very laid back calming person. I think a lot of people seek less noisy, highly stimulating playthroughs. I know that you struggle with maybe feeling insecure about if you are entertaining enough but people like you for being you, not being like other youtubers. 🤎 So, no more apologizing for being you, ya here! Longevity on youtube comes from being able to be yourself and take the pressure off of what you are afraid people think. Thanks for all the playthroughs, you are doing fantastic!

Thanks for the Q&A session! I've enjoyed watching your channel. If you are still looking for play-through suggestions, one game that looks interesting is Stray. It's advertised as a puzzle adventure, so it might be something you would enjoy playing. Besides, it has cats!😸

If you haven't played it yet I think you would really enjoy Red Dead Redemption II (PC version)! I had no interest in the old west, but on the recommendation of a friend I took a chance and was so glad I did. It became my favorite game, subsequently bumped to a close #2 after completing Outer Wilds + EoTE. It is an artistic masterpiece, with the best voice acting, musical score and atmosphere in a game world I've ever experienced.
From what I've come to understand of your taste watching you the past year I think this title would edge its way into your top 10 of all time, and I think it would be an awesome addition to your channel.
