The humans in this world do not view or expect the androids to have a conciousness and sentience, they are only supposed to mimick it

Actually being punched does affect Connor, that's why he fell to the floor. He doesn't feel pain, but it can damage his engine.
I think it's in their program to show pain in order to make clear to people they are being damaged/ hurt. (and also to look realistic/ more "human")

Remember Connor and Markus are both prototypes! In the mansion you learn that Markus is a prototype given my Elijah Kampski (the founder of cyber life) to Carl as a gift!

@@LukaelPlays i think it may actually be something you read in the bio for Markus instead I may be wrong I do remember that you read it. Markus was a prototype made for Carl as a gift

@@lordiedams348yeah, Marcus being an advanced prototype is a soft spoiler that Marcus' bio revealed to Lukael early (I think in episode 1 when looking at a couple of the character models).
It's not a story-ruining spoiler though as it will be revealed in the story in a later episode.
In my opinion, it's actually better to know Marcus is a prototype far earlier than the story reveals it - otherwise it can be confusing as players can assume all androids have Marcus' abilities, rather than him having his own unique and advanced abilities that others don't have.

While this game often touches on interesting topics for discussion, there are definitely points where it chooses not to explore those topics very much or deeply. Hearing you voice your thoughts on things as you come across them adds a lot more to the experience imo
I especially like that you take the time to look at and discuss things like the magazines, character bios, and even random character interactions
Once you finish your first playthrough, I think it'd be very interesting to see you going through that material on a replay c:

NONONO, leave everything in the video, I don't think we watch people play through games just to watch the game or watch how you push buttons, I for one love seeing little peeks into the minds of other people, keep up the great content! Would love more frequent videos and I think it'd help the channel a lot! But we understand you have a life and responsibilites! Thanks though!

Great video dude 👌🏻 roughly half way through and just want to add something for your next replay:
At around 1hr 5mins while cycling through the deviant case files, you can view both Marcus and Kara's case files if you don't press "scan all files". There two more viewable files after that option appears (which is annoying, almost like the Devs don't want you to see them for some silly reason). This is the first point in the story that describes Marcus' model as "classified prototype" (info you already noticed that the bio revealed in episode 1). It's cool to see how the Marcus and Kara situations are perceived by the law - and of course Kara's report can be very different depending if you kill Todd or not.
So on future playthroughs, don't press "scan all files" until you've seen all the viewable files first.
Also, on a complete tangent - I'd recommend exploring the gallery during your playthroughs (maybe at the start of your videos). The gallery is the only non-spoiler section of the extras section that's safe to view while playing through the story for the first time. Each gallery pack unlocks after specific chapters and only contains artwork from what you've seen and characters you've met so far. Some of the concept art is really cool and it's great seeing the stages the design of environments and characters went through from storyboard to game.

1:24:53 Haha I did the same exact thing on my first playthrough (spotting Kara and Alice as Connor and choosing not to go after them because I wanted them to succeed lol). The sequence you get if you do is very interesting; highly recommend you add that to your list of things to try after your first walkthrough.

59:40 Why would the android kill itself? He realized he has to die anyway. So he takes the last freedom of choice he has and end his life by it's own, instead of letting the choice be done by other people, like all his life before, when his life was dictated by humans.

Something else to add now that I've finished the episode:
I agree with the other commentators, don't edit out your "thinking out loud moments" where you pause and talk about what thoughts the game is stirring up. Regardless if you feel it's too much of a tangent or potentially sensitive subjects you start talking about. The game has triggered these thoughts and reactions from you so keeping them unfiltered, keeps your reaction completely honest, and that's what makes your playthroughs so great.
Also, it's strange how the Canada magazine didn't save into the extras, I've never seen that happen before. I'd recommend using your footage to read that article though as it's interesting and does enhance the story. In a nutshell, Canada hasn't embraced Androids like the US (it's suggested other countries are like Canada), because despite the economic growth that their use brings, the mass unemployment leading to higher criminality and drug use is seen as too much of a negative impact to justify the positives. For that reason, Canada hasn't approved the use or ownership of androids, with the most recent attempt being vetoed and no change looking likely in the near future

People considering androids as alive or not wouldn't let a junkyard for them be like this ever. This is a massive safety issue as well as companies would want the most cost effective solution which would be to take every functional part and reuse them where needed just to save money.
I think it's meant to be "deviant behavior" for him to repair himself.
Edit: Also all the cheap humans who don't want to shell out money for androids would be all over that place plugging in parts to get something to work for free lmao

Androids are still technological. So they can hide readable code in seemingly random grafitti in order to send each other messages. The initial image Markus had was a breadcrum he got from the junkyard android^^
Anyways. Love hearing your perspective and opinion on both the game and irl similarities/differences. subscribed

I was also thinking Terminator too in the dumpster scene. I enjoyed Shogun too, i hope you enjoy it. I feel like the robot wanted control in the end knowing what happens next. I'm so glad someone else threw that in about population control, because the more people we have the more resources we take up, hence the housing issues and prices everywhere else rising, this should have been talked about way earlier imo if we were to have less of a problem. I'm not sure if there's time left but yeah, it's a huge problem that's ever growing, but i'm doing my part by not contributing to that issue and it's all anyone can do.

I think it would be preferable if you didn't replay any scenes at all until you actually finish the story, both for viewers enjoyment and for your enjoyment and experience with the game.
It has too many different possibilities of outcomes and actual endings, and part of the experience with the game is finishing it with all your original outcomes. Replaying scenes to save characters etc. like how you did with Connor won't make you get more or less out of the game and storylines, it will just change it.
What I'm trying to say is, don't redo stuff because you're scared it might cause you to miss out on future gameplay, because by doing that, you WILL end up actually missing out on something ELSE instead.
Besides all that, I've really enjoyed your playthrough so far and listening to you voicing your thoughts and opinions is really fun and interesting, and I love that you take your time and explore all aspects of the game. I get unreasonably annoyed at people who play games and don't make any effort in actually experiencing and enjoying it as much as possible.😂
Can't wait to see more! ❤️

1:06:04 I could say the very same about any non ISO YYYY-mm-dd. We can all agree that's the better, proper, format. Yet it requires dd-mm-YYYY people to do as they ask of mm-dd-YYYY people, and make the effort to grow out of their own rut, for the better. ;)

1:37:20 I think it's more complicated why we can't solve the climate catastrophe so fast. I am from germany and we are doing a lot with building renewable energies, especially with out latest, new goverment, consisting of the green party (but this will change probably, europe has a massive shift to the right right now). But the problem is we also depend a lot on classical energy forms like coal and gas from russia (now usa). So if you just say we stop conventional energy generation and focus on renewable, energy get's a lot more expansive and this might result in poverty, what might be worse then implications of climate change etc etc... So yeah you could argue with these very complex situations an AI might actually be very helpful in offering solutions ways.

    • @LukaelPlays
      @LukaelPlays  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah I know it's a very complex issue overall, and I can't get into all the more intricate details in just one video, could be an entire video series just on that topic! like you said a hard shift into renewable energy may not be possible, but we certainly need to at least be progressively making that shift so that eventually we are that point...

Now that I'm seeing this game again, it's becoming completely impossible for me to regard it as anything other than a simplistic tale about oppression. The game does not take the subject of androids seriously at all, it's all about the human condition.
Even something as simple and obvious as ultra-dense energy storage that doesn't heat up or degrade is hand-waved away. These androids don't recharge and yet clearly do not weigh several tons because beds and chairs don't buckle under them. The implications of this technology are simply ignored. Why does food still cost money? Why do cars exist? Why does this not lead to a ridiculously dense fuel source for space travel?
Why does CyberLife not have remote control of its androids? Why are they not run on a central server which would be more energy efficient?
Why doesn't my personal AI talk to me through all my devices, my fridge, through my walls, through my glasses and headphones? Why does it need to physically move a robotic body around?
Why are there no dog-shaped, spider-shaped, drone-shaped, roomba-shaped androids? Why can't I connect my AI to several robotic bodies at the same time for convenience? How would that feel like for a consciousness? I mean these are not original questions, they are routinely explored in sci-fi.
All the tech and emergent consciousness stuff is simplified to an elementary level to focus on a social justice story with the moral being "when you are being oppressed to the point of being shot without trial, simply say no! Don't use force, think about the public perception!" - while the oppressors don't have to care about this supposed public opinion. This is the type of rhetoric that comes up for every anti-colonial revolt and civil war. Bleh. I might switch to watching the Tunic playlist.

    • @LukaelPlays
      @LukaelPlays  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

There's definitely a much bigger focus on the social aspect than the technological one... A lot of these questions you bring up is stuff I've been wondering about as well! Some of it does get addressed a bit later in the game to be fair, but I wish more of it was explored or taken into account, but I guess that's just not really the game they wanted to make lol still enjoying it though! (but Tunic is also great so I won't stop you ahah)

@@LukaelPlays Maybe I'm demanding too much from a silly video game. Like, Outer Wilds is also "just" a story about "what if the Big Bang happens again" but what matters is the feelings it evokes.
