      I'm not necessarily convinced he was deliberately tanking that interview. Part of me thinks he's actually just that self-destructive, or that he has the mentality that if he points out every one of his many and significant flaws to people they can't be used against him.

      @@pairot01 I realize why Boogie was likely molded by his abusive mom. I also had an abusive mom and she died before we could reconcile. I miss her, but my life would be worse if she still had influence on it. Her parents made her that way. I don't call them my grandparents because they are so bad. They sculpted her into a manipulative monster. My grandmother is alive and grandfather died from COVID because he thought the government was out to get him but he got the cough and died. He also held my mom's grave hostage.

      @@pairot01 the issue is “age” and “accountability” at what point do we acknowledge that a person’s problems and issues are their own. Is society supposed to just accept a person doing shitty things to others just because they had a shitty childhood? What if they murder someone in cold blood? Do we still attribute it to trauma?
      If an adult still struggles with their past that fine but that doesn’t excuse them of their actions

      @@pairot01 Mental health issues are not your fault, but they are your responsibility. Nobody is saying it doesn't exist, they're saying he's making it everyone else's problem and doing nothing to help himself. He's taking no actual accountability for himself or the things he's said/done, and that's the problem.
      I feel bad for Boogie, he had a shit childhood, and if even half of what he said about his mom is true then she was an absolute monster that no child should have had to endure. I feel bad for him, but I don't feel sympathy for him though, because I also see he's not doing anything to help himself despite seemingly being aware of his mental issues and being handed opportunity after opportunity to get the help he knows he needs but throwing it away constantly. And now he's dragging down a clearly mentally damaged girl barely out of high school with daddy and abandonment issues, and using his health problems as a way to manipulate and keep her on the hook until he dies because he's so selfish and views women as tools, not people.

      @@user-fb9sm7nn2x I'm not native either so maybe people can add on the state specific details but:
      "LA 10" seems to be some super model type as LA is where a lot of the TV/Movie personality actors/actresses live.
      "Arkansas 8" I am not sure about this, but since LA 10 = supermodel, we probably can assume Arkansas 8 is the opposite. I assume that what is suggested is: people rate 'less attractive' people higher than they actually are because of the general population not being as pretty as for example in LA.

    Untreated mental trauma comes back in middle age. But as an adult he has to take charge, and not wallow.
    I know this first hand. For the first time in my life, I love my life. I love this world.
    It takes some of us decades to get over our adolescence.
    I urge everyone to love yourselves. Self care is everything. Exercise, decent diet, and therapy! Therapy doesn't have to be sitting in an office talking to a therapist. It could be Yoga, or Tai chi. Anything that lets you center yourself and really think, and feel. Your life won't be perfect, but you'll be much more ready to deal with things as they come.

    The most telling part of the whole thing is when Mike, the director, is forced to take a break to protect his own mental health. Being around someone like Boogie is so mentally draining. He is so toxic. So awful to be around. So hard to stomach. I've been in a relationship like that before. But yes, the doc is brilliant. And I think Mike Clum is going to produce some absolutely amazing content going forward.

      @bored_potato 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +49

      @@zekeiwa5837ive said it once, ill say it again: Boogie is how people would have perceived Bojack had we didnt watch the entire show. We find it easier to sympathize with Bojack because we've seen his story, his intimate moments where he has the potential to be good but at the end of the day, is his own worst enemy. That's why the people who have watched the show, or at least some them, tend to romanticize him and/or believe and that he isnt so "bad".
      But Boogie on the other hand, how a lot of people react to him now is how the people in the show reacted to Bojack after his 2nd interview. They dont know he had a shitty childhood, that he has issues and he's trying to be better, that when he did some of the worst things in his life, it wasnt out of malice or pure evilness. However, something crucial to remember is that you're not judged for your intentions, but for your actions and their consequences, and the show made that gradually clear as every episode passed by.
      And even if Hollywoo did know about his sad life, it doesnt matter to them--without that connection the audience developed while watching the show, they find it easier to condemn him because the only thing that truly mattered at the end of the day was that Bojack still did those things, and no amount of tragic backstory is going to help erase or lessen the consequences of those actions.
      And Boogie is the same thing.
