As a Canadian, I’ve jumped into a hole in the ice more than once. It involved a sauna and a decent amount of alcohol. Much respect for my Scandinavian cousins for being true to their heritage.

Great to see someone else braving the icy waters! Tried this myself in Batakundi on the Himalayan range. Trust me, it's not a walk in the park, but once you dive in, the cold doesn't bother you anymore. Incredibly refreshing! Can't wait to do it again.

All the water under that frozen line is at least slightly above the freezing point as it is still water. Yes, still cold but everything is subjective and you have to consider the surroundings!

I used to hate bathing and still somewhat do but I used to take really hot showers but now it’s cool like if you were to stand in the rain and I’m more okay with them.

Removing that image in normal water temperature one can float under water and not actually sink more than a foot below the surface, the panic usually gives illusion that you are far deeper under than u really are. I started swimming after nearly drowning and realizing people took my choking up water Heuuupppp, gulp as a joke. Never needed a life guard after.

Those were the best morning routines I had in my time at Norway. The ice baths... They made me feel alive, well rested and ready to take on the world, head on. Even though I am born in a tropical country, I've never felt so good as when I was deep in ice.
So the Nordic morning routine is to get up early, cut large chunks of ice out of a lake and then bath in ice cold water. Every morning? Damn, you're fortitude is much stronger than mine.
No, most swedes only do this like once in a lifetime with very warm clothing. You can only find ice as thick as in the video during the middle of winter or way up in the North.
I think I would actually love the company of a bear while watching this winter scenery, unless it just flips and tries to rip my head off. So yeah,it would be pretty cool.
Cold is very addictive completely opposite of heat once you embrace it and immerse yourself into it. I am an Indian, I have been in extreme heat and extreme cold before the latter was very comfortable over time. Btw, the viking music gives me goosebumps and a "Viking Feel". And you are beautiful too
Somehow, I learnt to embrace our hot & humid temperatures here in Mumbai after traveling to Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal & Sikkim. Ig my body isn't made to withstand cold honestly but I don't feel much of a heat unless it goes up to 40°C (maybe because the humidity here would protect us from extreme heat). Then again neither are best for human body.

I've jumped into a creek at 11 Degrees before. The water was 72. I jumped in it was warmer than outside. The wind was blowing at 3 degrees. It revives you, that is for sure.

Removing that image in normal water temperature one can float under water and not actually sink more than a foot below the surface, the panic usually gives illusion that you are far deeper under than u really are. I started swimming after nearly drowning and realizing people took my choking up water Heuuupppp, gulp as a joke. Never needed a life guard after.
You my dear young lady have a lot of tolerance because there is no way in hell that I could jump into a ice hole and take a bath. I am a traditional Zen Buddhist who strongly believes in mind over matter but you got one over on me this time. You are definitely one tough little girl. P.S.- I think I'm going to go soak in a warm bath now. That is my version of chillin' out.

The ice baths... They made me feel alive, well rested and ready to take on the world, head on. Even though I am born in a tropical country, I've never felt so good as when I was deep in ice.

Cold is very addictive completely opposite of heat once you embrace it and immerse yourself into it. I am an Indian, I have been in extreme heat and extreme cold before the latter was very comfortable over time. Btw, the viking music gives me goosebumps and a "Viking Feel". And you are beautiful too
Somehow, I learnt to embrace our hot & humid temperatures here in Mumbai after traveling to Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal & Sikkim. Ig my body isn't made to withstand cold honestly but I don't feel much of a heat unless it goes up to 40°C (maybe because the humidity here would protect us from extreme heat). Then again neither are best for human body.
If you think about it scientifically, the water is warmer than the outside temperature. Water freezes at 32° F or 0°C Everything above the frozen layer if water has to be colder to make that top layer actually freeze solid. All the water under that frozen line is at least slightly above the freezing point as it is still water. Yes, still cold but everything is subjective and you have to consider the surroundings!
