  • Grandma's stereo system has been on the fritz. To retain my good standing as a cookie recipient, I offered to lend a hand. The CD changer that sits under the main stereo unit has lost all functionality, and is making some terrible grinding sounds to boot.
Join me while I dip my toes into to the electromechanical wizardry contained within.

In my younger years I use to work on almost all my electronics but as time marched along there came a point where things got too complicated for this old brain plus the parts got so small my ham-fists couldn't do what I wanted them to do. You still have the gift. Use it when ever you can and those who things you fix will be forever greatful. ( I admit it. I'm jealous.)

You’re telling me! Working on cell phones these days for example is quite the chore. God forbid you lose one of those microscopic screws. This thing was bad enough and it’s something like 20 years old!

Over the Years, I have been able to "Restore " function to some devices. Some times re -seating the connectors works.

Wish it was that easy on this one. At least it wasn’t a computer issue.

I felt like it was a goner a few times during the process, myself! Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat on this one.
