I've never seen a motor fail like this! Makita grinder diagnosis
This Makita grinder (Model #9557PB) hasn't had a hard life, but it's died a quick and mysterious death. Whodunit?

Tackling stubborn hub removal on a 2012 Subaru Forester
มุมมอง 7857 หลายเดือนก่อน
The secret? Walk softly and carry a big stick. If you're changing wheel bearings on a third-generation (2009-2013) Subaru Forester and are having trouble getting the hubs off, you might just need a bigger hammer. If you're looking for a nondestructive method to loosen a hub that's not so rusted into place, the stud screw-jack method might be the ticket. Hope you found this video useful, and if ...

What's inside a CD changer? Bose Wave diagnosis and fix
มุมมอง 4197 หลายเดือนก่อน
Grandma's stereo system has been on the fritz. To retain my good standing as a cookie recipient, I offered to lend a hand. The CD changer that sits under the main stereo unit has lost all functionality, and is making some terrible grinding sounds to boot. Join me while I dip my toes into to the electromechanical wizardry contained within.

Fixing a Seagull outboard that was left for dead in the rain
มุมมอง 6158 หลายเดือนก่อน
This British Seagull outboard is an uncommon sight here in Southeast Alaska. I'd never seen one before, and was interested to take a peek under the hood. I mostly found rust, oddly-sized bolts, and confounding engineering. Come along on a mechanical tour with me, of one of the most iconic outboards of all time.
This trick will keep your small engines running! How to make ethanol-free gas at home
มุมมอง 184K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I'm demonstrating how I make ethanol-free gas in my home shop, using no special tools or equipment. I can't believe I didn't start doing this years ago! If you have small carbureted engines around and are constantly frustrated by gummed up carburetors, give it a try. You don't even need the big clear jug to make it work. When I was first trying the technique, I used a regular one-gallon w...

It is called "Partitioning" - look it up under chemistry/Physics. The Ethanol partitions into the water, the gasoline stays in the top phase.
Finally what do we do with the water/alcohol mix? Grain alcohol? Corn ferment alcohol? Gas chem contamination. Sheesh!
Never bothered to use ethanol free gas in any of my motors (1998 Honda Valkyrie and 1984 Honda V65 Sabre, 1983 Honda Goldwing, 2008 Kawasaki KLX250, mower, snowblower, weed trimmer) , never had an issue. The summer equipment sits from at least November until March, sometimes an extra month or two depending on conditions. Snowblower is only used about 5-10 times through the winter. Only thing I've ever done is put a dose of Sta-bil in them before storage. The Valk, Wing, mower and snowblower have been mine for well over 15 years, the Sabre about 8-10 years, and the trimmer about 5 years. I just don't see the point of doing any more than that.
So much better than 8 unused pocket knives and 3 mini crowbars. Bravo. 🙌
That’s an awesome video. I have been doing this for years on my motorcycle carburetor engines lol😅
This is crazy I have most of the same stuff. Some other random stuff is a small cold chisel, 6 inch adjustable wrench, leatherman ratchet/bit kit, a small utility knife, rite in the rain notepad for part numbers/notes. Great kit!
Bro how to check whether there is methanol in alcohol
THANK YOU for this info!
Im a cheapskate, but re-using zip ties is next level. Props!
When you said a pick that got me cause I actually carry a compact stainless toothpick but I never use it for a toothpick and yes its extremely useful. You will never regret buying those Cobras I promise I use my 8 inch daily and constantly. I have been laughed at for carrying one of those small circular tapes in my pocket until someone turns to walk back to their toolbox and I already have one. Its nice to see a EDC that actually serves purpose and gets used cause like mine you cant even read the names on the tools anymore other than my Olight pocket light. I hate that people get lost in the idea of this is what you have to have for EDC when in actuality it should be centered around what you do for a living and what you need it for. Do yourself a favor and get them Cobras!
Clever! But modern Gasoline is not a simple liquid. How does the water react with the following fuel additives? Octane rating enhancers, Corrosion inhibitors, Lubricants, Metal deactivators which help prevent metal deposits, fuel stabilisers & antioxidants.
👍👍‼️
Beat video I’ve found so far. Easy and straight to the point. No unnecessary confusion . Thank you bro!!! I’ll be doing the same thing tomorrow for 15 gallons. Great Video over again!!!👍
Nice kit.
I have used 87 ethanol gasoline for years in my Lawnmowers, generators, weed eaters, chainsaws etc and never a problem. Just run it dry before the off season. 3rd generation mechanic and engine builder.
Add food colouring to the water
Fantastic video .
This kit makes sense! I had never seen the little tripod before 👍🏻
I did not see a single “Trick” in that bag o yours. The tricks escaped. After they overturned Roe V Wade the tricks went a runnin.
dude the magnetizing the pick is a GREAT idea! I will be doing this for my bag on my bmw r1200gs. the pick comes in handy for many things on the bike. Thanks from Utah! Subbed
Gas here contains "up to 10% Ethanol" (so they say), the fuel is Unleaded gas (95 octanes or 100 octanes), . My question is given Ethanol boosts octane how would you know if the higher octane level is not just extra Ethanol? i.e. what if 95 had 5% Ethanol and 100 has 10% Ethanol?
I didn't like that ratchet (the Titan one). It doesn't lock into place. Which makes it a terrible screwdriver ironically.
Interesting. I have 2 stations around my house that sell non ethanol premium fuel. I guess i am lucky. I have never considered what i would do if they did not exist.
Nice kit wish i had that tiny ratchet set and the micro knipex locks out of all that
Rad channel ❤
Nice tip on cleaning out the head on screws.
9:45 Worn bushing or bearing on armature? Angle gears have improper mesh (too tight, from being dropped)? Check bearings in head?
Putting together a highway kit for the bike. This video is excellent. 👍🏼
The knipex are great but those humble channellocks get the work done without all the flash
I was so curious about this after your tool kit video! Thanks for answering this question. Also I cannot believe it never occurred to me to clean out old rusty screw heads before trying to undo them, ha. This will be so helpful replacing the old deck boards.
Instead of using the plastic vent caps install a metal truck tire valve stem. Remove the schrader valve. It won’t accidentally open.
This ethanol has been on gas since 1979 and only in the last 10-15 years had ppl started blaming everything on it. I just haven’t seen it. It will attract water like a sponge so don’t leave it in ur carbs and tanks if they are vented and they all are
Those must be some very small boats with all those tiny tools
Dude, you inspired me! Your tripod flashlight stand is great! For the last half hour or so I was wrapping gear ties around most of my flashlights. So many mounting options now! This is a revolutionary thing for me and a lot of the guys in the edc community, I think! Thank you!
Outstanding!! Great video for showing how different everyone's everyday carry can be. Now get out and use it everybody!!
If you deal with battery corrosion a lot would it be viable to have a small bottle of vinegar and IPA? I use vinegar on old camera gear and it basically nukes battery corrosion and use IPA to wipe everything clean.
Why not a headlamp? Will take up less space than that Maxion and goes right on your head so you don't have to fiddle with setting it up or block the light while working.
Great videos! Keep up the good work!
It's a feature, not a bug: It gives you a chance to change out the cord before it crumbles and cracks to dust as the cord on everything Makita makes eventually does.
That ratchet is great, finding sockets took a hunt. Walmart had the answer, an $18CAD kit with useful sizes and a 1/4" hex adapter for the driver bits. Canadian Tire had the wire brush though as a 3-pack for under $10. I also added a travel size vaseline for greasing battery posts after cleaning. Great vid, helped me realize I haven't been carrying some basics when out with the kayak or boating.
Most sensible edc tool kit I've seen.
have you tried cursing at it?
Let's just say, there were a lot of outtakes in the shooting of this video.
You do cool videos man. You tear into stuff like I do. Also cool that you show mistakes and then own up to your experience level with stuff. I got a feeling you will take off with your channel before long. Well done. I look forward to more of your videos.
Appreciate the comment tons. I definitely get discouraged sometimes trying to strike a balance in videos so it means a lot! You know what they say, the quickest way to get the right answer is to post the wrong one online 👌
Hey bro, thanks for the response. I pray that you're doing well and are able to post some more stuff when you can. God bless you.
If you're keeping the car more than a year or two, I would have used a name brand bearing, not some cheap Chinese one that will start howling in six months.
I hear ya. It was my dad's call, for what it's worth. I'm a RockAuto guy myself, for the "cheap, but still name-brand" type of parts. It is fun to see which Amazon parts somehow end up lasting years, though! I'm running no-name front hubs on a Suburban right now that have been going strong for years.
Bad Waters. Hot Area. me would Take a Law against Lithium , Beer , and Petrol. 😢😢😢 thanks lg Rupp
Good stuff boys🎉
Thanks for watching!
@@thehacksquatch You're welcome dude.
Oh yes, almost all of my fixes were in the driveway. lol. Enjoy seeing you guys around the home front. Good job!
Very nice video! But you gave the wrong link for the L wrench. Can you fix that please?
Thanks for the heads up! Fixed the link for ya 👍
