    Thanks for mentioning the tension wrench you used. None of mine are able to hold on to the top of that keyway, so I guess I'll need to go shopping

    Nice work despite a mean keyway. I love how smooth your picking is done.

    Nice pick! I am trying an Abus No.41, it also has a nasty key way. Almost cracked it last night but seem to get false sets and loose it several times.The 45mm size is a pain but I struggle away! Thanks for the French flag, very considerate & subtle.
    (The padlocks I am trying were used at a local zoo!)

      +Peter M Thanks. Regarding the Abus 41, check out my video #65. I assume that's the same keyway. My preference for dealing with that keyway is to use a .015" medium hook (leveraging off the bottom of the keyway) in conjunction with top of the keyway tension. With that lock, dealing with the warding and accessing the pins is more than half the battle. Good luck!

    i picked this one by luck few times with your FNG set lol, and now seeking for more tools to deal with future challenges, and it's hella fun after playing gunsmithing!

    i bought mine from germany and its the same! i cant get past that paracentric keyway! got a false set but not enough room to manouvre any of my picks! thanks for uploading this!

      main problem is i dont have a tensioner thin enough to do top-of-the-keyway, and bottom of the keyway takes up all the picking room... what thickness is that flat5?

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +chris howard Thanks. The flat five are a variety of thicknesses and widths. They are excellent for tight TOK tension... that's the only reason they are in my kit.

      @splosh2070 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm having the same problem, my tensioners barely fit and I only have 0.25 picks and I can't maneuver them enough to set the pins

    Opens it in 45 seconds, and has the gaul to say, "It put up a fight." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    LPL, puhleez, you can do that in your sleep with one arm tied behind your back. Happy New Year.

  • @LockSpaz

    I came here to see which kind of tension you used; my TOKs (typical Peterson pry bars) seem long enough to bind up the first pin, but maybe it's just me. I've had successful open results using BOK tension, which doesn't leave much room but it does work, as I use the skinny end of the .50" Covert Inst BOK wrench, (which are currently my BOK favorites).

    I have the same lock bought at Wallmart...well four of them but they have Popular Mechanics on them. But they have 5 pins 4 security and these are the looks I chose to learn on... I was wondering why picking locks was so hard!!!!

    I've been stuck on one of these for a while, seems we get the nasty keyway in the UK too :/

      @TheTaff224 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just got 3 (UK) I can't seem to get a pick in let alone onto a pin..;)

      Same, feel like I'm really close, but probably oversetting one of the pins. Watching LPL again for inspiration :)

    Blimey, you are getting feedback and counter-rotation straight away. I've just got a 55/40 and spent hours on it yesterday, and I don't feel anything. I guess that's where experience and practice helps. I've cracked all the other ones leading up to it though :) Thanks again HL

    Nice picking. Yes, I think that's the mean old little lock I sent to Joshua a while ago.

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Potti314 It puts up quite a fight for a tiny little lock. Is this typical of the 55/40 locks in Germany? The 55/40 in the USA is a MUCH easier pick.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LockPickingLawyer I have a 45/40 that picks OK. The 55/40 you got I also found particularly hard to open. I was thinking that it is related to age of the lock. I have picked other ABUS padlocks (don't know if the 55/40 was thereby) but never experienced a hard pick like that.

    I hate how good you are. I'm working on doing spools and am still having some trouble I think I release too much tension when feeling counter rotation that I end up dropping the other pins back down. Back to practice.

    • @brucenolin6726

      I'm only able to get a few master locks open right now. It's going to take a lot of practice to get better. This hobby caught me by surprise. I stumbled across one of LPLs videos by mistake and was instantly mesmerized. I love the community here. So positive toward each other. And funny too!

    I have the same with very deep first cut, very shallow second, very deep third and very shallow forth and fifth. I got it for my orange belt and still unable to open. This keyway is NASTY.

    If u can do alittle more on this lock it would be really helpful. I u need one of the cheap Popular Mechanics version let me know...I believe u can still purchas them online. But for a cheap lock it's nasty!!!!!

    I don't fully understand any of the terminology in the video, or how exactly he picked it... But I tried my best to pick the same model just now, and it's safe to say... I failed.

    It is a truly disgusting little keyway, my tensioners do not even fit in it ! UK version, not sure if it's been updated even further with an even smaller keyway?

  • @Ajay-pz9ms

    I just got one of these, EU version. its weird that they are considered easier than abus64's on the beltranking site, the keyway is nasty, and they have spools

    Can a comb be used on this one?

    • @HingerlAlois
      @HingerlAlois 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      nicolelepage1
      There’s no way you can get a comb pick into this key way.
      I guess the North American version can be bypassed with a comb pick.
