All those abandonded stone houses in the woods once sat on maintained garden and orchard terraces. Chestnut trees were grown and one tree could nourish a whole family! Hundreds of years of cultivation and maintaiance are preserved in these grounds... happy to come alive again, to been seen and recognised!
I also bought a stone cabin with two small “houses” close to Martin, almost 2 years ago now. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to do any work on it, and it just sits there waiting to be loved. In case anyone is interested, I would be happy to pass it on to the next person to live their dreams. The Italian alps is truly gorgeous and so underrated. Reality is, it is very difficult to do what Martin did, you need to dedicate your life fully towards it, it’s not a “weekend and holidays” kind of thing. I learned the hard way 😁

Congrats on a wonderful buy. These two stone buildings are so beautifully rustic and in such a glorious setting. I look forward to watching you do the renovations.

7:54 Boccioleto! This house used to be a grocery store at ground floor when I was a kid! I passed my summer holidays in the house in front of that one! Unfortunate not to see your project on this.. but indeed interested as you've chosen another well known location for me as not far away. This little town used to have a very good "taverna", unfortunately now closed. But we had picnics in the garden in front of the church u passed, with my family. It is surreal. This place is just like straight from a fairy tale. A truly hidden gem. A dream made real. I wish I would find a similar place one day. Good luck.

It is always good to watch someone following their dream...I left my run to live in a cabin in the Italian alps a little late, but I can live vicariously through those that have undertaken that journey...enjoy the journey.
These "baite" were used in the summer months for grazing livestock and associated activities (cheese and butter). Everyone and their beasts went back to the village in winter as the snow would make the paths very difficult. The area is absolutely lovely. I live in a much more accessible place, on the other side of Lake Maggiore, and spend a lot of time walking these valleys and mountains. I hope you find what you're looking for here. It's not an easy life but a very rewarding one, growing, harvesting, foraging, preserving food and living with the rhythm of the seasons.

I keep thinking about how to transport building materials and furniture to this house. Shopping without a car, deliveries impossible, no ambulance or fire service....
Shepherds and cowherds on the mountainside provide milk and cheese. Bake your own bread, grow what you can and learn the art of preserve making in summer/autumn. The old ways are now the new ways again...
Compared to the people in Alaska and Canada like the poor guy with the channel Cabin River Outdoors, this is not too bad. Can't wait to see how it all works out.
Congratulations on your purchase! I wish you all the best as you start a new chapter in your life. I hope it provides an equal balance between serenity and work. It will be a challenge based on its location but if you stick with the process it will be an amazing achievement. 💚
I am so excited to find your channel and to follow along! My husband and I were just in Northern Italy this past summer doing the same thing. We also were in Bassano del Grappa and Belluno. Very beautiful and secluded. Like natives who lived there, you'd need a mule to carry what you need all the way to your home. I see a second cabin for it. And it would keep you company.
@@AbraXas-bi9ux lol! You cannot carry much on a ebike (BTW, electricity? Solar panels, yes, but...). Never seen ebikes on the Alps (and on the Apennines either). @@monicamontanari6540 Don't know about solar, I've no clue where exactly his house is located in the valley, but Valsesia is a narrow valley with high elevation mountains all around, and it seems like he's in a lateral valley to it, so it might be that he doesn't have much sun in winter. Hey Matheus, great video although it's filmed a bit darkly. The house and the area are really worth seeing. But I'm wondering how you're going to get materials to this house if you can't get there by car? I'm looking forward to more videos from you. All the best for you and your project
Gorgeous area! Could you drive an ATV in the nice weather or a snowmobile in the snow on that path? Or could you get a horse for transportation and carrying supplies in? What's the average amount of snowfall there in the winter?
OK, couple of questions: is the house on the electric grid or how much sunlight do you get in the winter for your solar panels? How are you going to get building materials, furniture, food there ? I'm not sure that long walk is suitable for a wheelbarrow. However, despite all that, I wish you good luck, and I hope it turns out to be a perfect experience for you. And the possibility of setting up a pit-stop for the walkers, great spot.
It’s not connected to the grid at all. There is a lot of sun light for the solar panels but I also have a generator and in the future I wanna have also hidro electric power. For the supplies I bought a quad. Soon I’ll be doing videos about all of that.
@@matheusstonehouse I've just been checking out mini hydro generators, because I know how they work on sailing boats. I was surprise how cheap the small ones are, enough for lights, computers etc. If you've got water coming down the mountain in a pipe, you're half way there.
Having had a dream of living in a similar situation somewhere in northern Italy, and having a soft spot for hydro I would be keen to use this as part of an off-grid solution. Most of the properties I have viewed online do not have enough mass flow to do this, so if you are fortunate enough to have access to this it would be a good adjunct to solar. Whilst the notion of having a generator whirring away in a pristine environment may seem out of place, this is a reality of off-grid living, if only as a backup when over sources are not available. I look forward with interest to your off grid build......
Hi Matheus... I really appreciate your courage to buy a so far, no car access isolated property,,, Gorgeous landscape, it's same my plans too.. May i can ask you about the price you already bought this??
Very far removed from the main road. So, whatever weather conditions you or your visitors need to walk for over half hours to reach your house? I am not sure I would personally like to live in such a secluded area. But, this is your home and that is what you want, like and can afford. Excellent!
Why you choose a so remote house? Isn't the quad too large for the path? Do you know for which use the cabins were buit? It will help to understand what they did in the past there
This falls into the area of a really nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. It’s just too difficult to get to. How do you have a new stove delivered, or a mattress? Even a quad with a small trailer on it will be really awkward to drive up there. I’ve been to Hawaii and it’s really beautiful with perfect weather, but I could never live there. It’s like that. I wish you much happiness and I hope it’s everything you want. Good luck!
Good luck, looks like an interesting project. I assume you will have a turbine to make use of all that water power ? Where are you from and what is your story ? Looking forward to more videos...
