  • I use the IDParts special tool to remove 3 of the 4 fuel injectors from my 2005 Jeep Liberty 2.8l CRD engine. The tool would not fit under the windshield cowl to gain access to cylinder number 4 so I had to improvise by using a crows foot wrench and a tire iron.

Do you have to pull the injectors before the head? Wondering if you can get the head out and then Do the injectors from the bench?
Is this all due to your trouble shooting with the knock and suspected dead cylinder video?

Hi Aaron, the injectors are bolted to the cam carrier / manifold assembly but they protrude into the cylinder head. You must remove the cam carrier / manifold assembly to get to the head bolts. If the injectors are stuck in the head you won't be able to get the cam carrier / manifold assembly off. So short answer is, yes the injectors have to come out first.

@@daytonagrayghost I have a compression leak around #4 injector. I rented the puller and waiting for seals to arrive. I also bought a seat cutter just in case.

Will the crow's foot pry bar trick work with the other injectors?

Where did you get that 24mm line wrench to get the injector out

I've had it in my toolbox for years, probably handed down from my father but I suspect you could find one or a kit of metric line wrenches on Amazon.

It's the junk Bosch injectors need replaced. Forward Diesel in Phoenix has them the cheapest at $350 ea.
