Yes, as noted. This "RedTail" aircraft was flown by the famous WWII, Tuskegee Airman, the black officers who were some of the best airman flying this plane in the war.
OMG!! That plane is absolutely gorgeous. Love the gear. It actually sounds like real landing gear too. 80yrs later and still one of the sexiest birds in the sky. I loved the grass landing too. The fact that the gear has full built in suspension gives you the confidence to attempt a possible rough landing on a maiden flight. I'll probably never be able to afford it but thanks for letting me fly it through your hands. Another great video Steve.
Great maiden of the P 51 Red Tail. So glad to see you back in the saddle making all those videos. Keep em coming, loving them all. Your passion for this hobby is awesome.
I have always admired the P51. I think it was the ones flown in the John Wayne movie The Flying Tigers. We had one here in the Flight Museum in Houston, but was destroyed in a crash at Galveston a few years ago. You could take flights in it with some money and a certified pilot, and that was what was taking place when it crashed just off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. It was a sad day for everyone. This rc plane is so beautiful and you flew it well. Enjoyed the demo. 😊 ,
That is an incredible looking plane. Without a doubt one that's going to be added to my collection very soon. Thanks for sharing present (and future and prehistoric) Steve. 😁
Glad to see the V8 still being promoted. It's been kind of passed up and buried beneath all the newer generation P-51s. I bought my first FMS 1450mm P-51 Red Tail V8 back in 2016. Yep. The V8 is that old. I crashed it hard in 2018. Bought another in 2018. Crashed it a year later. I now have another pre owned one that i am currently flying and have a new one i bought two years ago.... still new in the box. So yes the V8 had been around a while and had been left behind by the newer constructions. Newer versions like the E- Flites don't have all the wiring mess for the wings. They just have plugs built into the wing mating joints. But i still think this older FMS model looks the best as far as themeing. You can tell the V8 is a bit old because of all the assembly required (installation of control horns...ect). *But*.... They still make improvements to the V8. In 2018 they upgraded the landing gear retracts and in the last couple of years they added the Reflex system to it. Still a V8 though. Will always have one in my hangar. Just replace the FMS 5240 540KV motor with a FMS 5240 580KV for considerable more speed and climbing power.
Steve!!!!!! Such a beautiful plane!!! Representing a piece of history 👍🏼🤟🏼.. oh btw: my electric bike showed up today, I’ll assemble it Friday!!! Go red tails Tuskegee Airmen!!
I think a quick mention of 'Reflex", what it is and why it might only ship to Canada would have been a welcome addition to your review. Very impressive unit, assuming it is durable. LOS only I assume, but I think I would need to put a camera/VTX in a pilots POV assuming I could do it aesthetically
Looks and flies amazing. Btw, around 6:41 you call it a P41 ;-) And you're right, it seems like all rc Mustangs fly well, My 750mm HobbyKing plane, as well as the Eachine 400mm, both excellent flyers.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Or maybe that was classified information. If people with dark sunglasses in black suits come knocking at your door, don't open it. ;-)
Thanks for an excellent demo. Good summary of the build. Inspires me with confidence. My P51 should be arriving in the next few days...fell in love with it...had to have it. Haven't told the wife. If she doesn't talk to me for a week, it would be totally worth it....win win!😌😁
The great thing is that most wives can't tell the difference between one plane or the other.... it's like us looking at their shoes, we have no idea if they are new or not. Enjoy!
It would be fun if you did review video of freewing mustang one. And perhaps fly it side by side with this FMS. I want to hear your opinion about the build quality and the flying performance
What is trimming? Also I looked on the website to get it and it said that it doesn’t come with a transmitter, receiver, battery and charger. Can you tell me the name of each of those and tell me where I can each?
Nice review, and assembly instructions. 1. Were you using the Reflex stab? It is important that you mention this since it transforms these warbirds into pussycats, making them much easier for inexperienced flyers. Since it only has 4 outputs, what kind of receiver are you using, and what wiring so that you are able to operate the flaps, gear and lights? Do you turn off Reflex for take off? 2. How come you did not land with flaps down? Thanks!
In some vids I point out that since pretty much all my RC Plane videos are MAIDENS... even the ones where I'm going TOP SPEED TESTING, and that I have to talk and keep the plane close, that I will often switch in and out of stability. Also, when you watch my plane flights they are not continous from take off to landing... much is edited out so as to keep the flight short and to the point, so any mention of REFLEX may end up on the cutting room floor. As for FLAPS... that is what you use to slow a plane down when you have a short smooth runway. If I tried to land with flaps on a non-smooth runway there is the chance I'd bounce back up in the air if speed is not slow enough. I rarely use FLAPS for landing unless I suddenly have a short runway and the plane is coming in hot.
I had a quick question, so I am going to Calgary Canada in 2 days from Pennsylvania and since you live in Canada I was wondering if I could bring my Dji mini 2 without any paperwork or registrations on carry on (most airlines) and fly it there. And also bring it back home without issues
I may have answered this already. Many Americans show up in Canada with drones under 250 grams and have no issues. Just don't annoy humans or fly near airports. Bring your drone as carry on when boarding the plane.
Hello, I bought a bixler v2, I thought I was buying a complete kit but I wasn't. I have purchased a kit to complete it but am still having problems. Do you have any suggestions for beginning builders? Can you help me?
Nope, you need to have some basic flying skills. Start with one of the RTF kits I’ve reviewed, or get a glider. Here is a hint… RC planes with wings on top, called HIGH WING PLANES are much easier to fly then planes with wings on the bottom, like this Mustang.
Are you trying to get me a divorce?😂😂😂 Captain of my captain do I get it half price if I use a link from you😮😅😅😊 Just keep making these wonderful videos
@@43rocket Ahhh… you must be more specific as I review RC Planes in the hundreds. Holes in the rear of a foam plane WITH PROPELLORS are either there to permit air to escape or access to something inside. If it is an EDF JET, holes in the rear are AIR INTAKE.

Very Cool ! I am assuming you had to supply your own cameras and mounts. It would be cool if they could somehow simulate the RR Merlin engin sounds .
I just double sided taped an insta360 GO camera to it

Check out my video regardless BEST LARGE BEGINNER PLANES. I show the Aeroscout and Carbon Cub and explain them for beginners.
What camera did you put on the plane. How did you mount it etc?
I placed an insta360 GO camera (top/bottom). Held in place with double sided tape.
Why do you always get the coolest spectators? This one' s a real looker in the air. Does it have any stabilization?
Yes, it has full stabilization and partial stabilization.
This is PNP version. What transmitter do you use and do you have a link for it?
I placed a Spektrum receiver in it and used a Spektrum radio.
