My father-in-law (Bob) flew P-47's during the European Theater of WWII. Bob had some great stories of his training period and several year tour in Europe. He passed many years ago ...but I have feeling he would have loved watching this plane fly! BTW: His main P-47 was called Margie after my mother-in-law
Congrats on the plane, Steve. I have it for over about 2 years now and it is a beautiful and great flying plane. Two important points about this particular model that every owner should be aware of. 1) The wing electrical connector can work itself lose in flight due to flexing of the wing. Easy remedy is to remove the mounting screws on the connector on the fuselage so that it floats freely. 2) When pushing the battery tray it - make sure that it clicks in securely. I failed to do this once and the battery fell out of the plane during a loop. Believe me - you don't want to be in a situation where you have 0 control of the plane mid-air.
Very cool plane. Around here, there's no way you could go out onto a high school field. They're restricted with gates and fences but if you made it onto one the cops would show up and make you leave.
Love this plane. What a size and the thrill when flying it low. Just awesome enjoyed it. It is huge even in that pick up truck. I need a much bigger bigger house if i want all these. 🤣
I am an old dude and I have been fascinated by the RC aircraft hobby for years. I actually purchased a cheap, battery-powered aircraft and flew it into a tree on the third flight. It may be up there to this day. I did discover that there aren't a lot of days when a person can go out flying. It can't be raining, cold or too windy. And of course the plane can't be seen at night. And I'm not sure that I would not tire of the hobby after the 6th flight and the plane would sit permanently idle in the basement. It might be like an exercise bike in that respect.
I’m out everyday. I have discovered that the best weather is always mornings and evenings. If it was not for great weather, than I’d have zero videos. I always film when the weather is great. The RC hobby is designed to get you outdoors.
I usually buy small planes because they're cheaper and they fly in smaller spaces. But I have one 1,500 mm motor glider, and I love flying it because it's so easy to see which way it's going, it's much more stable in the air, and if it gets a little further away I can still see it! This looks like an outstanding aircraft. Very scale looking.
OMG!!!! That big Bertha is gorgeous and oh so scale. All of the armaments (those are rocket pods by the way not cannons. lol) look so good. Love the gear. He'll let's face it l love everything about it. The only thing I'm afraid to check is the price.😅😂 If I had to go in debt for a plane it's the plane for me. When It lumbered past the camera and took off I found myself saying "Strafe that lawnmower Captain. You sir are one of the luckiest men on the face of the earth! Steve wakes up, "Hmmm...l wonder what's arrived to play with today?"
I just discovered your channel and watched this video - I am very impressed with the quality and production. Great sound and video quality and your production is top-notch. The aircraft is beautiful and looks realistic in the air. It might be a bit to large for my needs but I'm glad you are enjoying it and sharing it with us.
Thank you very much! I just started reviewing RC planes in the past year (prior to that it was only drones and helicopters). Many more RC plane reviews to come.
I agree it's a great flying airplane. I repainted mine and looked totally different than the paint job. It comes with and I've gotten many compliments on it.
Gorgeous is right Steve. The synthesised voice prompts seem to be the same ones that are used in the Litchi App. Thanks for another really great video.
Just ordered! Thanks for the discount code! Still works. I have some extra Reflex's on hand I can program and use for it so it was a great deal, $378 shipped. Surprised no from the school has ever approached you or one of the kids? Maybe they have? Glad to see the P47 didn't meet it's demise from Tractor Man running it over.
You'll enjoy it for sure. The park where I fly is only used by the city grounds crew in the early mornings. The kids showing up at that hour was 100% unexpected. However, the nearby school is aware that the sports field is used by the city for all kinds of activities so they just live with it.
Great plane Steve! but man where do you have the space for all these? Ohhh right Canada is very spacious open lands still. I only got a couple of drones and feeling the heat already for too much clutters
Wow Captain!!!; I thought the opening was a remake of the Battle of Britain !!!, well done ! and, well well whats next, "Tractor Man", Humans"..........."Alians" !!; good to see you got through this without mishap and amazing looking / flying craft!; oh, and did I mention the size?, well there probably is only one Drone conquerable to it (and yes, you know whats coming!) the DJI Inspire 1, now a retrospective review on that beast would be very interesting !!!!
Thank you for this flight demo of this extremely scale Jug! And you did a great landing! I like that you show flying first and then assembly. The shots over the wings provide a really nice view. It would be even cooler if you could have a camera person for the other shots, so the planes would be bigger in the picture when flying by. But all in all a cool presentation. 🎉
I will admit this is a beautiful model. Ok, there is a Detail Flaw I immediately noticed in the Propeller. The Hamilton Standard Air-Screw Decals are in the incorrect location. They need to be further down the blade of the prop close to the Spec Tags at the Hub, additionally the Prop itself is slightly out of scale for the model. Other than those two details, (because I am currently working on a Static 1:32 Scale P47-N the model is absolutely beautiful! Now on an intended Humor Note, It really needs to sound like A Pratt & Whitney. The sound of the electric motor is just not right. But again a minor detail. 😄
Great review! What a massive and beautiful plane. My question to you. Over all the years doing these reviews, I know you have done other large planes and a lot of drones. Where do you store all of these? Your wife must love it! If you need any space to store some, let me know. Lololololol
Drones & planes are stored on my garage & basement walls. I can only fit a certain number of drones/planes so as new ones come in, old ones go out (sold or donated).
Great video Captain! Really enjoyed watching it. Just one minor correction on yr commentary: what you refer to under the fuselage as a bomb is actually a fuel tank 😊
Cool video Steve, I love the older style airplanes, it would be cool to get one but I don't even know where the nearest rc flying area is near me , I just recently started flying drones and have always valued your advice on them so thanks again friend 😊
That is exactly what I have been looking for. I went to order it but its out of stock. As soon as it comes back in ill grab it. What controller do you recommend?
Radio Control model aviation has operated in Canada for some 70 years. It has an exemplary safety record and until recently has been self regulating. Interestingly, we have experienced the rapid growth of a new branch of our hobby that has drawn enough unwanted attention to cause the regulator, Transport Canada, to step in. You know what I am talking about. The result has been the entire hobby is now being regulated to death "in the interest of safety". For those of us who have been around awhile, it was easy to point to the fact that our hobby was safe. We have gone to extraordinary lengths to be responsible, and to show both regard and respect for persons and property so as to not put either at risk. And then a video like this shows up. It clearly shows a complete disregard for either. While you may be showing off your gee whiz shiny new P47, the rest of us are waiting for the fallout when Transport Canada, who has the same access to youTube as everyone else throws your video back in our face saying, in part, this is why we regulate. There is "that guy". In his video he showed no regard for the safety of other users of the field including the tractor driver, and no adherance to the norms of the hobby in place to promote safety. So my final comment would be, smarten the hell up. Those of us that are using a little common sense are being regulated to hell as a result of the actions of those like you that lack it.
I have worked with TC for many years (check out my earlier vids). I was also the first or in the top 5 of people to be certified by TC as an RPAS pilot, so if you were a subscriber to my channel, you'd see all is well. This vid however, is a case of kids showing up on a field at 6:30am (unplanned) and running along side me. They were all warned (verbally by me) to watch above them for the next 5 mins which is why you can see they were all aware of my plane and insisted on running along the grass to allow me the runway. Now, I don't want to scare you, but in the fall of 2024 you will see additional TC Remote ID regs beginning in Canada and everyone will have to adapt in order to fly over 250 gram RPAS products.
During the war, it was nicknamed " THE FLYING TANK " A German fighter followed one back across the english channel, constantly chewing up the TANK that was outa ammo. The hun ran out also & went home, leaving the 47 to fly on home, somehow. Guess hoo hit the beer garden ?
If you can fly the super EZ without problems then get this one with the FMS REFLEX and it will fly like the super EZ. Of course you’ll need to add a receiver and buy a radio. I put a six channel Spektrum receiver in mine which means you could get away with a six channel Spektrum radio (new or used).
Where did you get your bed cover from? Ive only been flying a couple years and just got my truck back on the road. I thought about a camper shell but I believe a cover like you have would be alot smoother to load planes.
In my area, this is an authorized field for RC Planes, Helicopters, Drones as well as RC Cars. I’m in Canada where people are very tolerant of the RC Hobby as long as you don’t annoy people.
Bei uns in Deutschland darf man so einen Flieger nur über Modelflugplätze fliegen. Die Plätze werden von einem RC Verein gepflegt und wenn du da fliegen willst musst du auch im Verein sein.
Great video! that looks like a high school. I wonder if my local high school will let me fly in their field. How did you accomplish that? Should I just show up and fly?
The school is located on a city park which is why there are city tractors mowing the grass. The city park is open to the public for walkers, joggers, pet lovers, etc. I fly planes there when the kids are in class as well as weekends. The school is so used to me, as well as the kids, and because of this the teachers like to share the fields with me… which is always a surprise for me as it messes up my location to land safely.
Nice large warbird. However: according to Horizon Hobby, that P 47 model will be discontinued shortly. I was going to get it . The backorder for many replacement parts and planes has been in excess of 8 to 9 months and I am still waiting. Each month they keep pushing back the orders timetable. Not Horizon's fault but their Chinese supplier is really slack and slow.
I fly a Mavic 3 classic and it'll only record for 3:02 and then stop and start over. Do you have any idea as to why it'll only record for 3:02. I've bought new SD cards, reformatted them and the drone. I use a SanDisk extreme V30. I've use a bigger and a smaller one. No change. If you've flown this drone can you share with me how long you can record for. I've called DJI and they cannot trouble shoot it over the phone. Any suggestions, anything on the settings?
All consumer DJI drones record multiple files. So if you record for 10 minutes you’ll end up with at least 3 or 4 files. You’d have to move up to a professor camera drone to get one continuous file.
Hey Captain. I am coming from FPV drones with a TX16S and want to start flying fixed wing with this airplane being my first one. Can I use my ELRS TX16S to control it as long as I purchase PWM ELRS receiver for the P47? I also noticed this airplane does not come with Reflex compared to say the Red Tails P51. Do you think Reflex is needed? Thanks :)
One suggestion to offer is to show us wing stall behaviour on all these planes. World War II style fighter with elliptical planform wings are famous for killing pilots with tip stalling near the ground. That planes stabilization system may make a really difficult plane easy to fly. With it off, do this testing well off the ground. That landing looked smooth, but was stability control on? Trying to flare going too slow might end as a crash without stability control. I like the variety of planes and all the reviews. Your house must be getting pretty full of planes.
This could be a good example versus FPV how you're not always able to see around you when flying LOS yet still maintaining 100% safe. I would argue that FPV you can assess your surroundings better making the mandatory spotter rule in FPV unreasonable. Great video BTW. Love your content!
If I were just an RC plane guy then travelling an hour to a club during the day would make sense, but since I’m an “everything RC guy”, I head to local parks at 6:30am and enjoy the hobby (planes, helicopters, drones, cars/trucks). Normally I’m the only human active at the park at that hour.
While I was watching this my wallet got uncomfortably warm, and at the end it just burst into flames!

😂🤝
Very cool plane.
Around here, there's no way you could go out onto a high school field. They're restricted with gates and fences but if you made it onto one the cops would show up and make you leave.
In my area the cops will make your life hell or just shoot you!
That's a great looking model. Appears to be well made.
Really enjoyed watching that one 👍👍👍
Big plane indeed. Steve, I really enjoy the detail and enthusiasm you put in your video's. Looking forward to your next one.
Love this plane. What a size and the thrill when flying it low. Just awesome enjoyed it. It is huge even in that pick up truck. I need a much bigger bigger house if i want all these. 🤣
Beautiful plane, really authentic looking and you flew it masterfully. Thanks for showing us this massive beast. 😊👍👍

Excellent Video. Beautiful P-47 Plane. Thank You Steve.
wow. great review steve.
so beautiful and the time of day made it just better
That is one impressive (and massive) RC plane!

Wow what a beautiful RC plane ✈️🤩

What color did you go with?
Nice video and lovely plane. 🇬🇧
I have the same issue sometimes, 10 people taking up the whole field , sometimes I leave
That is 1 big RC Plane. Good review Steve.
My most favorite plane! Awesome video
Very beautiful scale looking warbird.❤
Looking forward to moving across to digital and very much looking forward to fpv’ing this beaut 😃✊
The plane looks good and really high quality. Thanks for the content, captain drone keep it up❤.
WOW, what I lovely plane. The propeller looks like on a real plane
Wow this by far is the coolest one I've seen of the foam type. I have to get one of these, thanks for sharing it with us 👍
Gorgeous is right Steve. The synthesised voice prompts seem to be the same ones that are used in the Litchi App. Thanks for another really great video.
Love the look if that plane.
Wow very nice build. I already have an E-Flight P47 Razorback which is 1.2m but but I like the P-47 immensely so may buy another one.
Fun video ! 😃
Great looks and great performance,
Thanks Steve !
Hey Steve, u never mentioned the radio and what receiver u used !!
Radio is by Spektrum. Receiver is by Spektrum.
Nice bird good looking when in the air. On a side note I'm extremely surprised 😮 they even allow you to fly in a school 🏫 zone.......................
The school is on a city park. When you see my drone or plane vids, most are shot before school starts and before people head to the park.
Copy that 👌.
Man put that "JUG" On the Deck !! You're Not Flying a 747 !! Nice Bird & Awesome, Video, Many Thanks.
The P-47 was the grandfather of the A-10 Warthog. What an Aerotank!
Great review! The inflight footage was fantastic also. Really would love to see more of that.
Thanks! Will do!
One of the best rc planes I ever had was P47. That wing is nearly stall proof.
Friedliches Miteinander Mensch und Modellflieger offensichtlich nur in USA möglich. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is n Canada where everyone is very friendly
Really nice plane cool review looks insane
Cool detail
Hey Steve, mine arrived Monday. It would be fun in the future if summer brings you to Picton and we could fly in formation.
Great video
Bob
When I lived in Kingston, I often went to the beach in Picton.
That awsome plane,,
U should do review on the chasing f1 underwater drone😁
Wow!! 😃
Wow! Love the Jug, Thanks for the review. I think I need this one😊

I guarantee you if I had been one of those kids running by I would have immediately stopped running and said, hey………a P-47…….cool!!!!!
They are so used to RC plane pilots that they ignore the planes
Fantastic review. Really enjoying your channel which I've recently found. Keep up the rc planes reviews 👍🏾
Great plane Steve! but man where do you have the space for all these? Ohhh right Canada is very spacious open lands still. I only got a couple of drones and feeling the heat already for too much clutters

I thought it was gunna cost the earth but it’s not too bad at all! 😃😎
Have a good week. I like it
Loctite on the four propeller screw/nuts or are the nuts lock type with the nylon insert? Nice plane...nice flying...very nice landing.
well thats brave man, glad all went ok in the end. hope next time it will be somewhere more suited for RC planes :)
Great review! What a massive and beautiful plane. My question to you. Over all the years doing these reviews, I know you have done other large planes and a lot of drones. Where do you store all of these? Your wife must love it! If you need any space to store some, let me know. Lololololol

What happened, were they out of the large size?
Great video Captain! Really enjoyed watching it. Just one minor correction on yr commentary: what you refer to under the fuselage as a bomb is actually a fuel tank 😊
Does that model have laminar flow wings?
Awesome 👍. Very cool

What an awesome video, i cant wait to get the experience to fly that big of a plane..currently flying an fms super ez

Thanks again. 🇬🇧
Where did you get your bed cover from? Ive only been flying a couple years and just got my truck back on the road. I thought about a camper shell but I believe a cover like you have would be alot smoother to load planes.
Jeep bed cover is a Jeep Mopar product
It's Perfect
your not at a AMA authorized field either, what gives us a bad rep with the FAA, awesome bird , great flyer it looks like
In my area, this is an authorized field for RC Planes, Helicopters, Drones as well as RC Cars. I’m in Canada where people are very tolerant of the RC Hobby as long as you don’t annoy people.
Cool!!!
Realistic looking
Bei uns in Deutschland darf man so einen Flieger nur über Modelflugplätze fliegen.

1500 mm (or 1.5m) wing tip to wing tip would be the same for any plane that measured 1500mm. They would fit in the back of your truck the same way. 😊
These planes need sound module and speakers to add to the realism with some engine and prop noises
Gostei amigo, parabéns. pelo aeromodelo. Se eu pudesse compraria um.
Great video! that looks like a high school. I wonder if my local high school will let me fly in their field. How did you accomplish that? Should I just show up and fly?

If you've flown this drone can you share with me how long you can record for. I've called DJI and they cannot trouble shoot it over the phone. Any suggestions, anything on the settings?
All consumer DJI drones record multiple files. So if you record for 10 minutes you’ll end up with at least 3 or 4 files. You’d have to move up to a professor camera drone to get one continuous file.
Got to see the real Bonnie fly at airventure. ITS SOOOOO PRETTY!!!
What editing software do you use?
Final Cut Pro
someone (maybe they already have) needs to develop a fake radial engjne noise generator to put these classic planes. Great Vid !
There are SOUND KITS available for such planes.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 It'd be great it if you could test one or two out for us next time you do a classic rc !
Thanks :)
Yes, use the Radiomaster ELRS PWM receivers. If you can’t fly an RC plane then REFLEX is needed.
Bellissimo
put a lil peanut camera in the cockpit!
I like that p47 but it wont fit my vehicle lol good video 😀👍✈🛩🛫🛬🪂
Love your content!
until your camera and video feed go out...
Sweet plane! Are there no R/C Clubs for you to fly at in your area?
If I were just an RC plane guy then travelling an hour to a club during the day would make sense, but since I’m an “everything RC guy”, I head to local parks at 6:30am and enjoy the hobby (planes, helicopters, drones, cars/trucks). Normally I’m the only human active at the park at that hour.
Only shipping to Canada?
Unfortunately they're sold out 😢
FMS told me they do a restock of planes usually in mid November.
