I have enjoyed watching your focus videos. How do you get the dog into a "center" position voluntarily? Thanks again.

Hey, I recently came across your page and it's really so helpful and good. My dog hates the car, he gets scared even to get inside the car and every time I try or force him he resists and ends up not going in any tips that I could use?

Yes, use the leash pressure as demonstrated in the video. :)

Any tips for helping your dog deal with motion sickness? My puppy really dislikes the car, because he gets really nauseous when we drive places. Usually just a lot of drooling and looking miserable, but the one time we tried having him ride in the back seat, he lost his breakfast. I am going to start trying to build positive associations with the car by having him jump in and giving him treats without driving anywhere...but I'm not sure if that will counter the yucky feeling he gets from driving. Thank you for your videos!

Thanks for the question and for supporting the channel. Yes, that would be a good start. "Building positive associations with the car by having him jump in and giving him treats without driving anywhere". After doing that for a while, then start taking very short drives, maybe down the street and back. As your dog gets more and more comfortable, then extend the distance. Most dogs will overcome car sickness with this process. I hope this helps! :)

Any recommendations on what kinda travel kennel I should get for my 8.5 month old female GSD puppy. She’s about 53 lbs. I need a travel crate for the truck bed.

I guess that would depend on your budget. You can get a custom crate to fit in the back of your truck or you could use a normal plastic crate and strap it down. Here's a link to some nice custom crates: kustomkrates.com/

I noticed you are using your continuation marker Yes. Curious why that is as I would’ve thought this would have been a terminal marker for the climb and off commands.

Just think of what the word predicts. Continuation marker only predicts a reward, while the terminal marker predicts a release and reward. If our dogs are not in a commanded position and we use the continuation marker, it doesn't make it a stay command. It's just telling them they are going to get a treat. So when I first demonstrate this with Arih, I do not say the command. I just use the physical cue. This means that she is NOT in a stay, so by saying "yes", I'm just telling her she is going to receive a reward. If you notice when I add the command, she stays in the position until given the next command. For the terminal marker I only move back to encourage the dog to come and get the reward in the beginning when I am conditioning them to the marker. Once they know it is a release and reward, then you no longer have to make them come get the reward, you can hand it directly to them if you like. I hope that helps and thank you for supporting my work, I really appreciate it.

Nate Schoemer Thanks for clarifying as I guess I didn’t really understand he continuation marker. I thought that meant you are continuing so they would always essentially be in a stay until released at some point with the termination marker. I think I got it now. I am at episode 9 so right in the middle of teaching my pup the Yes and Free. Good stuff!

Yes,this looks good, but what if I have an adopted farm rescued stubborn pyrenees who weighs 115 lbs and won't get in-just becomes a huge titanic sitting at the door?

What happened to episode 27 in this series? You mention training a dog to walk on a leash in the next video, but I don't think you've covered it yet in the series. Is that what has been marked as private?
