31.05.2021 - VN24 - Overturned dump truck - easy recovery for Rotator "The Beast"

- VN24 - 31.05.2021 - Holzwickede / Germany - At first it seemed to be a difficult recovery. A tipper trailer truck had tipped onto its side at around 11:18 a.m. while attempting to unload soil at a construction site. No recovery vehicle could be set up in the narrow and uphill driveway leading to a residence, but with the capabilities of Kollmer's Rotator "The Beast" it was no problem in the end to get the truck back on its wheels. The driver of the semi-truck suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to a hospital.

Good to see the whole of the Kollmer crew out in force including the boss. See there are some detractors out there , just to say Kollmer are one of the most professional recovery teams in Germany . They don't make a fuss and noise of US counterparts when at work , just get on with the job. As for disconnecting the prime mover from the trailer that is the way its done in Germany. Nice video work yet again VN24 thank you.
"The ways its done by the whole of the Kollmer crew out in force including the boss" is to just flop the tractor over and twist the shit out of it without a care, not bothering to put a catch line on and prevent unnecessary damage.

@@deconteesawyer5758 we rarely use catch lines in Europe unless it's something heavy. The tractor by itself weighs less than 5 ton. And it's designed to flex. If it can't handle that little bump it shouldn't be on the road

Ist ein Rotator immer. Mit dem kann man so einiges anstellen. Heben, Ziehen, Heben und Ziehen gleichzeitig, usw. das Ding ist wie ein Schweizer Taschenmesser mit Extrafunktionen.
Vor allem die weitaus schnellere Rüstzeit und je nach Situation auch kleinere Aufstellfläche im Vergleich zu einem gewöhnlichen Kran ist ein SEHR großer Pluspunkt bei so einem Fahrzeug.
Sorry aber wenn ich schon einen Kran zur Verfügung hab brauch ich die Zugmaschine nicht so hart umzunieten.
Kurz vorm Kipppunkt Kran nach oben dann wird das ganze wesentlich sanfter

We have had these tipper trucks for some decades now, and there are many videos like this online. Could we not equip them with wheeled outriggers? It seems like even a meter out would help in many situations.

Nice work. Only safety suggestion is I would have blocked/chocked all of the wheels when flipping the tractor and trailer from rolling toward the wreckers.

Die Preise (USA) für the beast kannst du bei Ron Pratt erfahren. Er ist auch auf jutub. Das Handeln dort ist zielstrebiger.

Ich habe den Kran jetzt schon in ein paar Videos gesehen. Was mich wundert ist, dass die Zugwinden oben am Kran keine Wickelvorrichtung haben (Zum verhindern, dass sich die Seile auf der Trommel überschlagen).

Also why do you split the tractor unit from the trailer? Why can't you tow with them together like we can here in the UK?

Why does it take so many recovery trucks,2 trucks and a service vehicle, and about 7 men to do this recovery? Let's use Ron form the USA as a example,most will know off him, he would off done this job with one rotatory and 2 men, including himself. Just saying
I have the same question.It also seems like the Germans aren't particularly gentle either. They're using a rotator for goodness sake, how hard is it to add a catch line? Drives me nuts after watching outfits like Pepe's Towing give a rotator Master class.

Well the system of a Rotator is still new in germany. I mean, "The Beast" is only one of a few rare Rotators in germany so the tow companies dont really are used to the full potential of such a vehicle.
Especially when you take Ron as an example. I see SO many recoveries here in germany where i think: "Hmm, Ron whould have done that WAY different. And faster probably. Even when Ron is always for "Safety first." he can work faster."
@@JackMacLupus I agree fully. Ron Pratt is always talking about: No more harm or damage, right angels, safety first, repositioning and.... a catch! Last, but not least, never (NEVER) drive a vehicle!!

Second winch line hangs there off the boom while the trailer crashes to the ground, knocking off the tarping system! Now you have to secure that somehow when you could have just used a catch line.

Kenne ich gar nicht den Begriff" Rotator " im Bergungssunternehmen und das Fahrzeug habe ich auch noch nie gesehen 👍😉
Kuckst du kein D max. Standart bergungsgerät in den USA.
Ja das solche Fahrzeuge auch langsam den Weg nach Deutschland finden ist richtig nice. In den USA gibts die Dinger schon ewig. Da werden die NUR eingesetzt weil sie eben Kran und Bergewinde in einem sein können, dabei aber oftmals weitaus weniger Aufstellfläche und Rüstzeit brauchen als ein gewöhnlicher Kran.
Schau dir dazu am besten mal die Videos von Ron Pratt an. Der ist Abschlepp- und Bergungsunternehmer in den USA und nutzt auch so einen Rotator. Zwar ne etwas andere Bauart wie das Beast (Weil anderer Hersteller.) aber da sieht man auch sehr gut was man alles mit einem Rotator anstellen kann.
Jamie Davis in Kanada, ein Mann - ein Bergefahrzeug kann das alleine.

Ja das hab ich mir auch gedacht, also soviel Erfahrung wie diese Firma hat ist das eine miserable Leistung hier.
Schon beim Aufrichten der Zugmaschine sieht der Laie, das da etwas total schiefläuft. Wie kann es sein das eine geschlossene Tür dabei aufspringt!

Hätte der Bagger den Lkw nicht auch einfach wieder auf seine Reifen stellen können?? Also wäre es mein Lkw gewesen wäre ich durchgedreht, ihn da übern platz ziehen. Einfach umdrehen und er steht wieder auf den Reifen und ruhe ist.
Hätte er definitiv geschafft.
Wir haben unsren mit ner Raupe und Seil aufgerichtet. Allerdings dazu auch getrennt

Wie kann man da nur kippen. Selbst ein Anfänger hätte gemerkt, dass das nicht klappen kann. Der Stempel war ja noch nicht mal zur Hälfte ausgefahren und dann lag er schon. Sieht man ja auch, wie schräg das da ist.
Vielleicht merkte der Fahrer, dass der LKW am Umkippen ist und hat den Druck vom Hubzylinder genommen?

@@domi2875 Du probierst es trotzdem. Unter dem Motto: Beim letzten mal ging's auch gut. Es bleibt heutzutage keine Zeit mehr vorher noch einen Stuhlkreis zu bilden und die Lage bei Haferkeksen und Fencheltee auszudiskutieren.

Learn some geography - Germany is NOT all of Europe, it's only 1 of 30+ countries. E.g. dump trucks like this are illegal in Scandinavia because their axle load exceed the legal limit. Trailer is about 30% too big for a 4x2 tractor, it should only have a two axle trailer
Ist schon bemerkenswert wieviel Leute da rumlaufen und eine Ewigkeit brauchen, da stelle ich einen 70 to autokran hin mit 2 bis 3 Mann und das Teil steht in einer halben Stunde wieder auf den Rädern, sorry aber die Aktion ist völlig überzogen.
