Love to see pros operating hi-tech machines like these
I'm impressed by the lift capacity on the boom. All the while using 2 or 3 other winches for pulling. And the engine hardly revs above idle. Very well designed wreckers. 👍
Wow, the way european trucks/trailers are laid out look so different to here in Aus. I can honestly say I've never seen a truck like that DHL one here in Aus.
My thoughts as well, why are they not pulling straight back out the way it went in. Had that trailer been move heavily loaded it would have rolled once they started to pull the unit out from under it. Drove off with no light board showing to the rear of the wreck either ? Nice kit though that's for sure.
On another incident in this series, there was a convoy vehicle taking through traffic slowly past the scene, why not this time? As the damaged truck was towed away, where were the hazard warnings on the back? An accompanying vehicle perhaps? To warn traffic about the length of the combined vehicle. Are Swedish roads incredibly highly specified, or am I missing something? There were just two spiked 'feet' taking the weight of the boom arm truck as well as the weight of the trailer close to the edge of the carriageway, and yet the road surface showed no sign of damage... that's some serious tarmac!
Depends on the amount of traffic. Max length in Sweden is 25.25m, so everyone is pretty much used to long vehicles on the road. 90% of our roads are classed as BK1, which means you can drive a vehicle at a gross weight of up to 64 tons on those roads.
The exact same accident happened by the Swedish town Hässleholm some years ago. I stopped with my motorcycle and walked towards the stranded truck and avsked if he had calling for help. He looked tired and i guess he had falling asleep while driving and ended up in the wood when he replied that another trucker friends was coming in a few hours. I replied with, you need more than a trailer friend to get that out of the wood.
2:07 I have a question about lifting underneath a truck that’s stuck using the crane... do the straps cut in to the Alguns’ box frame? It seems like the bottom corners are under a lot of pressure. Do they ever collapse?
Well in my humble opinion, I have to agree with 'The Grumpy Southerner' to some extent. Then again, I have no experience whatsoever in this type of 'rescue ' work,.but I'll bow to the experts as shown here by ADVideofilm. One thing is certain, it sure is a good video and a pleasure to watch. I really like those softly purring diesels at work.
The truck is probably driven by the driver - either way the extra bars in the front means getting a rebate on the insurance due to less costly damages if you catch an elk (or a boar for that matter...)
Great to see that traffic was allowed to pass while they were at work and only stopped when essential. In the UK that road would have been closed........for two days! The first day would just be the risk assessment. Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit but continental drivers on the whole seem much more sensible and can be trusted to drive past a scene such as this.
Great video, but is it just me or is there missing sound on the left? i can hear the guy speaking normally on my headphones, but the rest i only hear on the right.
HEY GUYS, NO NEED FOR ALL THESE ROTATOR DRAMA, As an expert here commented, "IT COMES BACK AS IT WENT IN". CHANGE the damaged FRONT WHEEL (could be the cause of accident) The VOLVO FM recovery is fine to do the job with a set of handy men of trucks and trailers, working on woods for an hour and another hour for pulling her on to the tarmac with minimum damage. This recovery company made their day and drama ... God bless them ... Okay, they too are our pals ...
It's an after market table put in on the dash, drivers usually have scented air fresheners called "poppy" on them. Table is also good for putting your phone or shipping papers on.
Looks to me that whether you are in the american mid west or northern Europe, a rotator is a very handy piece of kit to have. Looks like another professional recovery 👍👍 One thing i would like to see is more of the set up of the chains etc, i think it would add a lot to the video's.
Why do they let the mirror hang and dangle there when pulling away? That would've got them a SEVERE fine, were it taking place in Danmark. The drag wind/speed wind could easily cause it to blow sideways - right into the front window of an oncoming bus or truck. Watch from 9:14 on. Bad decision.
The road was closed to traffic for only 20 minutes? Here in the US, we are so concerned about liability that the road would have been closed for the entire recovery process and for hours afterwards while the accident was "investigated". I guess that in Sweden the insurance companies are not running the show.
@@Cooleb09 Yeah, that’s the beauty of having a rotator, being able to work while keeping the roads open to some extent because these trucks were designed to occupy only a single lane of traffic.
those idiots who pass to fast the recovery place lead to fully closed road for recovery. if anyone slows down like the dhl truck, the crew can work and the drivers get to their aim with only time lost of few seconds. with a closed road it can take up to an hour longer. please slow down at working places
To slow traffic down at incident scene's lay partly filled water filled fireman's hoses across the road at each end of site. Sign post the humps (sleeping policemen) The water will be moved side ways along the hoses if crossed slowly The hoses must be longer than the road crossing and capped at each end to prevent water loss. I have used this method to slow traffic entering a works yard, with the hose end connected to a 45 gallon tank half filled with water. A vehicle crossing the hose has to displace this water from the hose to cross. No drilling or cutting is required with the road surface. It worked great but needed anti freeze added for the colder month's.

This is definitely NOT how I would have extracted a crashed semi-tractor trailer from the woods. Also it took 4 guys to do it? . And then at the end they used the flatbed with the lame-ass frame lift and not the big wrecker which presumably had an axle lift? 4 guys on site and it was still half-assed. The Grumpy Southerner was right, it should have been pulled out the way it went in. I used to pull 18 wheelers with a full size wrecker in Colorado, this extraction could have been done way differently, they were probably trying to justify the use of the rotator truck.
so you say that you would not tip over the trailer with front tires of the tractor blown to pieces ? on that angle ? be serious man ! this is carefully done with less damage
Patrick T Out the same way as it went in? With all the trees it had run over making barbs and risking a lot more damage under? And the trailer was light, so this was the most stable way, too. The ground is not flat and nice. The frame- front mounted haul-points are there for a reason. Can't get a more stable and fast-to-use towing point. But; You should offer your services as a consultant here in Scandinavia? Both in Norway and Sweden the rescue companies have a lot to do after the international transports have gone over to cheap east-european drivers, and we need experts. 😂
I just love the sound of the Scania idling. The sound of power..
Yea true power!!
That DHL truck may have been the coolest truck I've ever seen. Wow!!
Agreed
I also agree with you because that DHL truck was the coolest truck I also have ever seen!
After seeing so many botched recoveries, it is refreshing to see how it is done properly and safely. Well done guys.
Listen to those powerful diesel engines idling, it's singing to me. Thanks for sharing!
Dry
Loved the organised system. Beautiful. That makes everything smooth. Great 👍
I used to work in Accident & Recovery, Cars, Trucks, Bikes etc so I know how hard you Guys work. Very slick & smooth Operation 👍
The Swedish wrecker guys did very nice job 'on time without any mistake very professional
Not the easiest recovery job. Very professional work by the recovery crew, well done.
Nice, smooth operation. Thanks for sharing.

Superb competence and amazing recovery equipment.
Very sad to see this scene but congratulations on the rescue. Here in Brazil, aid is often not as patient as that presented in this occurrence.

Thats a serious DHL package delivery truck!
Almost Indian, with that paint job😁
give me permission to download this video for partial reuse
Wow! All of that and without Police assistance. Great job and even greater machine.
Very uncomon with Police assistanc in Sweden durin these kind of jobs.
Agree. There would be ten squad cars poking their noses in if this was in the USA
There was a Police standing on the side of the road, the car must not have been included in the video.

good video. Cool machines. Thank you from Japan.

@Getbent97, you've got 'Roo Bars' on your trucks, we've got Elk/Moose Bars. LOL.
It looks a little weird without its trailer that's why.
Just imagine a trailer behind it and it'll look much more normal.
My thoughts as well, why are they not pulling straight back out the way it went in.

The Scania rotater wrecker truck looks very uniquely similar to the rotater wrecker's here in America!

Nice recovery...
How does the tow bar stay on a level plane although the lift raises it ...
What is the handling capacity of that Scania rotator? 40 tons? 50 tons? More? I wonder if any cabover rotators operate in North America.

Yes the driver was ok after the crash.
Why not tow it with the rotator? Silly to have another recovery vehicle there. Am i missing something?
They probably have several recovery trucks but only one rotator and they wants to keep the rotator available for other jobs as much as possible?
