The honest reason I started watching your videos......my friend watched them and one day I saw this boy in the back seat of your truck making faces and being silly. He made me laugh and cheered me up. I didn't even know what I was watching but soon found out and was addicted. My friend made a big mistake (his words) of selling his RV and since then I've been pretty upset. He is planning on getting another RV in time but till then, we watch your videos and get good ideas and are excited for our next adventure. Plus, I keep smiling when I see Caleb being his neat "self". You have a wonderful family! Thank you for all of your wonderful videos.

@@KeepYourDaydream I'm curious -- are the epic videos more or less work to put together? Is the difference pretty significant? These videos still have a lot of polish and you can tell you did them because of the way they're put together (not many build a story as well as you do), and I'm guessing they aren't as effortless and breezy as they look from our end.
The adventure stuff is pretty easy to edit because there is often a start, middle and end. Stringing together day to day activities can be challenging. In this Sunday's episode, an entire segment of the Hamilton Gardens will go to the deleted scenes and not make the episode. We moved my collar bone incident before the waterfall hike due to the transition and ending. I'm still not sure how we'll get from the intro to the first segment at Hobbiton, but we still have two more days! ;)
I just love Cricket. We get worldwide highlights on Willow cable TV channel and I watch religiously. I STILL can’t figure out the rules! But on a more important note I preferred Speights over Tui - hope that’s OK with the majority of those in KIWI land. Much love to all NZ’ers from California.

Bob Shaw It’s a common phrase in reference to the other country (NZ if in Australia or Australia if in NZ). The term “Over the Ditch” is in reference to the stretch of ocean that separates the two countries. Ditch means a narrow body of water like a river but only up to a few meters wide - although the gap between NZ and Australia is obviously a lot more than that it’s narrow compared to the distance between us and the rest of the world hence the phrase “Over the Ditch”.
Every time I watch these videos I get inspired to plan another rv trip with the family. Makes us want to travel more with our kids as they grow up. Thanks for the great content! Safe travels !!

Carson is pretty funny when he is on camera. :-) I figured he must be camera shy, or a quiet person in general since he isn't on camera much. I have this aversion to being on camera too. The thing that makes your channel so much better than the others I've come across is the family! Keep up to good videos. :-)
Thanks. He's been on more lately. I only wish half the jokes the boys make I could put on the channel. They are not inappropriate when talking with friends in person, but not good for TH-cam. Kinda like what we say when we're with mixed company vs. friends. They are funny though.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game... simple enough don't you think ?

Tauranga is my most favourite spot in all of New Zealand. Any time I am on a cruise ship that’s visits there I am off as soon as I can and I don’t get back on till the last possible moment.

So fun listening to your talk about “caravans” or travel trailers as you call it in North America. We have the same size caravans in Europe, but the ones featured in the video clip seemed somewhat vintage. And when you talked about that they were pulled by cars, and that they have the tent on the side and the window size. That was funny. But most caravans are pulled by cars in Europe and apparently also in New Zealand. The tent on the size makes the “indoor” living space bigger and you have more space to be inside when it rains or if it’s cold in the evening, so you’re not crammed up in the smaller caravans vs the bigger travel trailers you have in USA and Canada. But it’s true you could have bigger size windows and a tent on the side. I would never have guessed that they call that type of fire truck an “appliance”. I only know the US term for it as you mentioned as an “engine”. I guess it just go to show how much American English has influenced the rest of the non speaking English world via tv, movies and internet. As Dane much of the basic English we of course learn in school as British English, but we are also highly influenced by as mentioned by American tv shows on HBO, Netflix etc and American movies the theater and internet and TH-cam

One thing I noticed traveling in NZ was that a lot of caravans (travel trailers as you might call it) had large windows at the front and rear. With the curtains open the car driver could see all the was through from his rear view mirror without having side mirrors.
Great times indeed two years ago we spent 17 days in NZ and loved every minute. We took almost the same route as you in the North Island and spent the time in the South Island. The driving was really wild and the food was so fresh from the local markets. What we enjoyed was the laid back vibe on both islands and the beaches were so clean. Looking forward to your time.
So I started watching your channel to get tips and ideas about RVing...then you went to NZ and I realized DUH we have RV'd before...in 2004 we flew to Auckland, then to Christchurch and rented a 'campervan' for 10 days and drove around the south island. It was incredible! Can't wait to see the rest of your journey...

Catching up on past seasons - New Zealand. Mark getting used to NZ vehicles reminded me of a funny story: Mom was now driving as Dad's eyesight was failing. He would ride shotgun. In their new Saturn, Mom kept mixing up the turn signal wand & turning on the wipers. Dad would peer out the windshield & ask, "Is it raining, honey?" Mom was NOT amused! lol
I travelled to Australia for a big track meet in 2016 and had my brother drive while I navigated. So funny to see you have the same experience on the road! Do you notice the foot traffic is just about the same while on the sidewalks? Love the videos!

Trish, I feel your mom pain with the rocks. I get so nervous when the kids go mountain biking on some crazy trails in Colorado or rock climbing in Wherever we are. Definitely the hardest part of Full time RVing as a mom is all the new, sometimes scary (for me) adventures the kids have. 😁. Loved the video!
I should have known better than to be eating while watching your vid. That bit about "cleaning" had me laughing so hard with a mouthful I almost choked! In 2 episodes you locked in my idea of heading to New Zealand someday. Preferably I would like to sail down, but that isn't likely since the better half is afraid of water somewhat.
Lol. Thanks. It's worth the trip. Save your miles for the flight. The RV "hire" rental can be offset a bit by all the free camping. Right now the exchange is about 30% cheaper for us and all that adds up. It's a bucketlist trip for sure, but not impossible with some planning.

LOL Great vid of a real family having a great "normal" vacation in beautiful NZ. Lucky you! Always wanted to go there, but haven't made it yet.
Lol. It is hard to find footage of Trish not being happy, but I'll look for more. Recently, Trish was coming back from a grocery visit and things were not going right. Carson said, "Dad, turn the go pro on... this should be good".

Catching up on past seasons - New Zealand. Mark getting used to NZ vehicles reminded me of a funny story:
Mom was now driving as Dad's eyesight was failing. He would ride shotgun.
In their new Saturn, Mom kept mixing up the turn signal wand & turning on the wipers.
Dad would peer out the windshield & ask, "Is it raining, honey?"
Mom was NOT amused! lol

I travelled to Australia for a big track meet in 2016 and had my brother drive while I navigated. So funny to see you have the same experience on the road! Do you notice the foot traffic is just about the same while on the sidewalks? Love the videos!

Trish, I feel your mom pain with the rocks. I get so nervous when the kids go mountain biking on some crazy trails in Colorado or rock climbing in Wherever we are. Definitely the hardest part of Full time RVing as a mom is all the new, sometimes scary (for me) adventures the kids have. 😁. Loved the video!

In 2 episodes you locked in my idea of heading to New Zealand someday. Preferably I would like to sail down, but that isn't likely since the better half is afraid of water somewhat.
Lol. Thanks. It's worth the trip. Save your miles for the flight. The RV "hire" rental can be offset a bit by all the free camping. Right now the exchange is about 30% cheaper for us and all that adds up. It's a bucketlist trip for sure, but not impossible with some planning.
