I have lived in Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas, but when I went to Alabama, I knew the source of the cliches about the South. It is truly the gracious south, with all the trimmings. I really liked this video. You are so entertaining and informative and fun.

I had a Dometic RV fridge that would warm up while moving and worked fine when my trailer was parked. Took it back to a dealer many times and they said nothing wrong. Finally took it to a place that specialized in RV appliances. I told them my story and said you have a bad fridge from when they solder the pipes some times the solder gets in the pipes as a loose ball of solder. It rolls around plugging up the ammonia line in travel and falls to the bottom and lets the coolant flow when you stop. They put in a new fridge and solved my problems. Don't waste your time with RV dealers as they know the least about the product.

    Hey guys, Eli here.
I rarely comment in your videos because you get enough comments and compliments but today I want to take a moment to tell you how much I love you guys.
A few years ago I read about a sociological study done in the 70's that change the way I see life. They interviewed 50 people over the age of 95 who were asked what they would do differently if given the opportunity to live life over again. There were many answers, but three kept coming to the table with the majority of them: 1- Reflect more 2- Take more risks 3- Do more and do more things that would live after they died (in other words, LEAVE A LEGACY).
What I found fascinating about this, is that someone was telling me in advance the things that I am going to be extremely likely to regret later in life. Since I read this, I have been trying to apply this to my own life. The biggest compliment I can give you today is that when I see episodes like this one, I can clearly see you living your life keeping these principles in mind.
Much love to both of yaa.
    E&F

      @KeepYourDaydream  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks Eli. You're making it happen! I have read similar articles about interviews with people who were days from death and the conclusion I came up with is it seemed most people regretted only the chances they didn't take, not the things that didn't work out.

Refrigerator tip: upgrade your unit to add a Amish cooling unit from JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana , IN. They will install it if you go there. We live in Austin, TX ( we were at your meet up at the brewery with Less Junk More Journey) .. ours (Norcold 12 cu ft) would barely get below 50 degrees in the summer. Now we get 7-10 in the freezer and easily 35 or 40 in the summer. Their cooling unit is about 2x what came standard in our Norcold.

18:49 - 21:10 - You Guys have THE BEST ADVICE. I've seen and heard it before from some of your other episodes. You two have just the best way of putting words together to live by. And early on.. Back with your first episode (I made a comment on) that I remember so vividly because I KNEW Exactly- where you had your flat Because I'm a Native Phonecian and in addition of a season of your episodes, your advice helped change my mind of waiting for retirement to "We can do it now!!?? - We SHOULD do it now" Got our first coach literally just over a year ago. Even though we still own a home, and work Full Time, and On-Call- Those inspirational words to live by from you and Trish Still motivates me to get out and explore even though we knew getting into this RV lifestyle that we would have to be Weekend Warriors for a few years first. But your words of Wisdom Trish, motivate us to experience a free-er lifestyle.

When I finally made up my mind that I was really going, there was always one more thing that I needed to look after. Even though I really wanted to fulltime and I had talked about it for years, the closer I got to leaving the more scared I got. In the end I just had to say that’s it and I’m going! I didn’t get out of the house until 8:00 at night, but at least I was off. I have learned so much in the last 7 months! Some of which I didn’t want to know, but have loved being out there. Feel the fear and do it anyway! All worth it! BTW, I loved your first episode. Real people doing real things.

The tour is a great idea. You are so right that touring RV's when they are brand new and shiny you don't get a good sense of how it will work when actually lived in. People are so creative when it comes to storage and making a small space work, it's amazing. On the topic of the south, here in VA, we are considered to be "southern" as well. We are south of the Mason/Dixon line is why but I think it is because we too say "Y'all". LOL. Safe Travels guys!

I love the reminder of getting started! When we moved in we also had to drive cross state for a wedding, and on the way back, with both of us having exactly 0.1 experience in towing a trailer....we got stuck in a dead end that wasnt even fully paved at the end. So, we had to 27 point turn around and it was teeeeerrifying to attempt...but, you learn as you go!

A friend bought a small blank encolosed trailer (a 4 wheeler might fit in it) to go hunting, fishing for a weekend with his dog. For him it' s easier to get going, no camper prep, can be hauled behind his little toyota pickup, he can use it to haul stuff like a bigger truck and It allows him to do an early morning get away anytime.

Keep us updated on the frigerator issue. We have the same fridge and we have the same problems. Some days it works excellent other days we can't get it below 45deg. It doesn't seem to matte if were on propane or electricity or what the temperature outside is. In fact it has happened to us on a two week trip recently, It work for the 1st 3 or 4 days, then stopped working for about 4 days, and then started working for the rest of the trip. We never have it packed very full because we tend to eat out a lot. But we do carry the occasionals barbecue dinner meat and milk for breakfast cereal in it for the two of us. Were in a 2017 GD Reflection 5th wheel.

10 days today...my journey begins. Bought my trailer and truck. 10 days from now is my first camping trip with it. This summer is all about short trips and learning to set-up, tear-down and camp on my own. I already work full-time from home so I am now beginning my journey to full-time nomad life. I am sooooo excited. It's a long time dream that I have broke down into baby steps to make it manageable. And here it goes. Yeah. Thank you for inspiring me. Showing me that it is possible. I had anxiety over a less traveled experience today. I had not completed a solo journey in a long time, so I had anxiety over it. I went to church for an hour...talked to some folks...confidence boost. I went home, grabbed extra tow stuff, a dolly and drove to Colorado to look at a car...to be used to fix another car. I wish I had a smart GPS to correct the one that sent me down the wrong muddy road. I had to unhook the dolly, turn it around, turn the truck around, reconnect the dolly to get back to the correct road. Then the power steering went out on the truck. All of the components looked fine, no noise, just no power. I bought the car. We did a light check on the trailer to find that the truck brake lights didn't work, but the running and turn signals worked. Suspected a brake switch or bad connector at the back. Couldn't find a quick fix. I did a work around and used the parking lights switch to turn on the tail lamps when I used the brakes ...until I got back where I could get it fixed. Got back safely. Of course, the guy I bought the car was generous to offer help if I had any problems.. Great experiences prepare us to do bolder adventures without allowing worry or anxiety to stop us.

Check behind your fridge. I’ve yet to see an RV fridge with baffles installed properly. The burner creates a draft which draws additional air past the coils that is supposed to cool them. The install manual says to have baffles to to direct air flow through the coils. Most installs just leave a big empty space so most air goes around instead of through coils. Yes, you also need air flow inside as well. A small battery fan worked well for us, but not until I installed baffles.

Your message and reminder about RV life is a great reminder to EVERYONE regarding life in general. Always take the steps that are scariest and don't wait until things are perfect, because they rarely are. But if you want to live life, really live it, you need to move ahead in whatever you are passionate about at the time. It doesn't always go smoothly, but that just makes the best stories. Love your show and your open sharing. You touch many lives in a positive way.

I have a house fridge, but I put all my dairy items on the two lower shelves because when you open the fridge heat enters and heat rises. It has made a big difference and food last longer. When I bring all my grocerys home before I can package freezer items I put one or two freezer cold blocks between my meats. : ) peace

You need the fan for the Refridgerator. We bought the three fan one on Amazon. It works great, keeps the fridge, at 33 degrees. Love it.

I was just by that RV park Monday. I started Monday in Birmingham, up to Forest City MO, to Flagstaff AZ, down to Phoenix and Lewisville TX I unload 6 May. Then load in Abilene to run back through Birmingham to Anniston AL. I gotra tell ya I keep an eye out for guys, so if a crazy trucker pulling a dump wagon honks at ya, that me. Awesome vids, always enjoy watching.

Enjoyed! It's fun seeing the other RVs and the community it creates. One of the things that surprised me on my trip to Mountain View AR, was how the trees over grew the road. I spent most of the time driving down the middle of the road or beat up the side of the RV. Haha have fun y'all.

Great video guys!!! We are leaving today on our maiden voyage up to Williams, AZ in our 2003 Springdale 26' Bunk House with our two little girls (3 & 5), two Queensland Healers, and old 2002 Dodge all thanks to you! We couldn't afford to buy this trailer but we did it anyway because I was tired of waiting for the "right moment" to come, the money to do it and my girls are growing up too fast! So, because this is your fault you have to come up there and tow my rig back if we break down! :) It would be a good excuse to meet all y'all in any case. You've truly been an inspiration to so many! Keep an eye out for us on the road. We'll be the crazy people waiving at you frantically out the windows with smoke pouring out the engine and tires falling off!

Yes Alabama is the south . If you want to get technical it's the deep south. We moved to Huntsville last year from Oregon however my entire family lives here. The south is beautiful, the bugs are something else , and the people are friendly unless they are behind the wheel.

Picking up our Tow Vehicle on Tuesday, Used Silverado 2500. First step in the process to make it real. If we waited until we could buy something new, it wouldn't happen. If you start the process, you are closer to the goal.

Great Video!! Brought back a lot of memories of the RVE Summit. Really enjoyed your keynote and your Sunday session. We enjoyed seeing our rig (parked right next to the Dometic 5th wheeler) on the drone shots - just a small white rectangle but still home sweet RV home. Really looking forward to this season and your travels in TN and KY. By the way - as one or two people MAY have mentioned - yes AL is in the South - the DEEP South. Y'ALL!!

What you said in today's episode, about starting with what you have, resonated with me. I want to travel full time, it has been my dream for years. But it's not something I can do today. But I decided what I can do is buy an RV trailer, try living in it in KC ( we will see how that goes) and travel on my free weekends. Of course wearing my #summertoremember t-shirt.
Even if living in it full time doesn't work out, I will have downsized from a large house & that alone is freeing.
