    2:40 small correction: the CSL DD for 199.95 deal ONLY applies if you also add a pedal set! You wont get the CSL DD for 199.95 if you "just" add a Wheel without also adding a pedal set, which also means you can not get a complete package with a Wheel base, the Hub and a Wheel for under 400.

    Great review! I've had the V1 version of the universal hub for a couple of years now and have combined wth a CSL R300 wheel. I think you nailed it with the phrase, "...looks a little bit boot leg..."
    I think I want to upgrade my pedal set before I go back and replace/upgrade hubs and wheels.
    I also have a CSL DD Wheel Base and the McLaren V2 wheel. Both of which I'm happy with.
    Eyeing the XP1 Loadcell set from Sim Lab. They should be a respectable upgrade from my Thrustmaster T-LCMs.
    Any chance you'll be reviewing the XP1's any time soon? Would love to see and hear what you think of them.
    Appreciate the care and craftsmanship you put into these reviews.

    My barely 3 year old Fanatec rig failed entirely... wheelbase, shifter, handbrake, pedals each failing in their own way and I'm tired of having to try fixing and bandaging them. I'm not even rough on the stuff, I just threw it in the dumpster yesterday. I'll be going with Moza for my next rig. I have Logitech g25 in my closet that survived many more years than that.....

    Hopefully this is the start of Fanatec releasing new equipment, as they are being left way behind their competitors…how hard is it to make a Podium pedal set and bring out a better formula wheel that is larger than the 270mm V2.5 clubsport!!
    Also, where is the WRC button module? Fanatec should be concentrating on bringing out new products as their entire range is looking tired compared with others!

      I agree about the formula 2.5 wheel being too small but they do have the mclaren wheel which is a bit larger and was the ideal size for me. What bother me with Fanatec is that if I order the booster kit with the bundle, you don't get the base at a discount price, and I would have to order it separately. Of course, it makes "sense" due the fact the bundle is only for the 5nM base, but the problem is...Both 5 and 8 nM are the same base, and buying the power adapter separately is "just" 150 euro.
    It would make more sense in a Moza ecosystem, where each wheel is different.

    • @womz8203
      @womz8203 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That doesn't happen to me on the US store. If I add the 8NM base I still get the $150 discount (CSL DD Discount) added to the cart as long as there are pedals and a wheel in the cart.

  • @SimQuips
    @SimQuips ปีที่แล้ว

    I was looking at this when ordering a new wheel last week but it seems like there's no ability to put buttons on the bottom or use the advanced paddle module like you can with the other hub they sell (which I thought was just an older version of this one, but I guess its not? idk I lose track with their stupid naming scheme). So yeah I ended up just doing with the other version and adding the enduro button panel thing and advanced paddle module to that

    I'm not trying to suggest that the Porsche button plate will work with this hub, I don't think it will fit. But this could mean that theres some sort of expansion parts planned for this hub. Too bad the shifters cannot be swapped out for the Club Sport Magnetic shifters. That would have made this hib a must buy.

      Not Will, but I think only Fanatec fits your requirements. They have pretty much the biggest catalogue of accessories so you will find something for yourself but none of them are at competetive prices, maybe except the CSL DD Ready2Race bundle... but it's cheap for a reason. Moza would be my second choice as despite being a small & relatively new company, they are expanding their portfolio somewhat quickly with things that people actually want, like a truck steering wheel (finally!) + the fact they're using a common quick release design means you can use any fitting non-1st party quick release & be on your way unlike with Fanatec where you need to pay $200 to use custom steering wheels as otherwise you will have no FFB... which is just mindboggling

    Funny that they can send you their new upcoming stuff... meanwhile there are paying customers who are waiting weeks to well over a month for their order to ship only to hear nothing from fanatec as to why their order keeps on being delayed -.-

    If they haven’t changed the way the shifters work on the inside then it’s useless. The metal push tab bullshit they use is garbage.

      They actually have changed the whole shifter mechanism from Snapdome to Spring loaded. It's basically the most significant change on the V2 and it's a miracle for me how it can feel anywhere close to the V1. It's night and day difference to me.

    Fannatec is just so far out of touch with its customers its insane, they are so money hungry and it shows!

    Someone should do reviews on Fanatec QR1 against QRs from other brands currently available.
    I don’t think people realised how bad and how far behind QR1 really is compare to other options.
    Fanatec really should be focusing on improving its QR rather than keep on milking money from an outdated design

      We do comparisons of this in most of our reviews

      @@boostedmedia I appreciate that you guys do include that in your steering wheel/ wheel base reviews. I just think that the points about QR kind of buried under the wheelbase /steering wheel review itself. I think if there’s a direct comparisons between QRs from other brands available right now, it would be a lot more evident how bad Fanatec QR1 really is compare to the competitors.
      I have several Fanatec Wheels as well as other third parties wheel. While I do enjoy using them, I definitely do not enjoy swapping them out. I lost count how many times I hit myself in the face with Fanatec wheels. It’s the only thing that stopping me from buying any more of Fanatec products right now.

    fanatec are a really terrible company these days, honestly go with any of the other brands you'll get a far superior product and customer service .
