This video couldn’t have come at a better time. I just upgraded to the qr2 and since Fanatec is out of stock of their qr2, I purchased this one as well. It’s cheaper than the normal qr2 and free shipping to the US. Still baffles me how Fanatec doesn’t offer free shipping in 2024 especially with the price you’re forking over for their products.
@@EM_Karting good point but my parts are way outside of the warranty period. Regardless of warranty, DYOR and you’ll be surprised to find a ton of awesome and reliable 3rd party supporting mods i.e. pedal dampers, shifter mods, magnetic paddles etc
The Fanatec QR2 is a chinese knockoff of the Krontec QR3 in the first place. So it really shouldn't be a surprise that the aliexpress feel and function nearly the same as the actual fanatec ones.
Well there you go. I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned before. Well done. The Krontec QR3 is more expensive but that is beside the point when you consider how long Fanatec said they were "Developing" it.
@@untrainedprofessionals2374 Sometimes i really wonder, do they really take the time off to redesign the existing QR available on the market or they just rebrand a QR that is currently selling and make it theirs.
I bought the same QR2 and I think the built and quality is better than the Fanatec. I’ve had it for a year and no issues whatsoever. I have the one that overrides the torque so I could use any wheel, did not need a hub and saved me money.
QR2 is absolutely the best, the slop in others and slow swap is easily worth the extra for the great engineering and quality. The AliExpress ones are just as good, I have about 4 of each.
I bought the black one at a discount for $40 with free shipping.. A little more than 7 months ago... It cannot be broken, I tell you that right away.. It can withstand 32nm with easeThe main thing is not to forget to install the round plastic that comes with the kit, this is very important.!!!! These are Fanatec requirements... And the Chinese took care to add it to the kit... Because if you don’t install it, the steering wheel’s internal part will not be in tight contact with the QR2 that is installed in the base.. When you install the plastic ring.... Please note that the head of the bolt should not be higher than the plastic.... Use the bolts that come with the qr2.
Just wanted to say thank you to all the comments in this video and @randomcallsign for making this video. Ended up buying this exact one for my CSL DD and I couldn't be happier with the initial purchase! Now to put it through its paces and see the long term durability. The package and all the parts look almost identical to the fanatec offical QR2. It feels like they are getting the parts from the same manufacturer and just changing up the release shape.
I purchased 2 of these. Couldn’t get either to work with my Esports Formula 1 v2. Both worked perfectly with my Clubsport Formula 1 V 2.0 and my podium hub.
I also got one for 42€ AliExpress. It is the same as the original. Only it was delivered faster than from Fanatec. And I'm from Germany. How is that possible !? 😂
The Chinese version is based on the Fanatec QR2, but the Fanatec QR2 is a copy of Krontec. So turnabout is fair play. You can fix the "stickiness" on the wheelbase side by using teflon (PTFE) spray. Spray onto a cloth and then wipe it over the OUTSIDE of the wheelbase side stem and the vertical bars of the wheelside release. This is exactly what Fanatec do with the pro system. You will need to apply the teflon spray at least once a year to both the Fanatec and OEM releases.
I think it would probably make sense to go look for third party / aftermarket parts, because with the situation Fanatec is in, they might not be around in the future, plus their customer service / support is terrible at best…
DUDE! my qr2 lite has been cracking around every single screw. its really annoying and was not about to pay 150$ for another shitty built product. THANK YOU FOR THIS
Really looking forward to that building out a fanatec system video. Because i have QR1 and a couple wheels i am in limbo... if i buy anything new i have to buy wheelside QR2 and QR2 pro for my older wheels also
Yeah the issue for me is: Official QR2 100€, the AliExpress one is 75€-80€ depending on the color, and who knows if I have to pay customs or anything like that. So I'm not really saving all that much.
