    the fact that Honda sells this scooter for CHEAPER in other countries WITH a rear disc brake but sells it forMORE here with a rear DRUM brake is insane and inexcuseable.

      The advantage to the drum brake is it doesn’t have ABS so it will actually work in the dirt. ABS brakes are terrible off road, or even on gravel.

    I could not wait until Break-in to open this thing up. I commute daily on a 55mph speed limit expressway, and have the throttle against the stop twice per day. I also just took it on a 110mile round trip two days ago, each leg requiring about 38 miles against the stop. I did the 600 mile oil change today, and had minimal metallics in the oil, the break in oil was dark honey, and still at honey consistency. No issues, I'm quite happy with the looks of things. I'm 6'1",weigh 225lbs. I have had it (under favorable conditions) up to 71mph. I ran up to 65-66mph on the way home on my long trip. I have a lot of confidence in this scooter, it was the best, biggest, affordable scoot available in Charleston SC area when I bought it the first of November. Handles great, accelerates quickly from a dead stop, and has enough under seat space that my XXL full coverage helmet fits (just barely). Today, the issue seems to be getting your hands on a super scooter, since hardly anyone has them, and they can't tell you when they'll get any. Not their fault, it's this global shipping crisis.

I walk home alot without my bike. here in the philippines on my island there might be 2 people who know how to fix this issue.. i dont know those people... sold the first one at one year, and now will sell this one and only return if they go back the old fashioned key that works every time...

    Thai ADV150 owner here
    - far comfortable than anything within its class apparently, it handle washboard road like a champ
    - Thai market get disk rear brake, rear doesn't get ABS while front do
    - apparently intake doesn't goes as high as the exhaust, still a good water wader if it doesn't reach 1ft (while my other bike, Wave 100, can goes through 1ft of water like a boat)
    - Thai market have 'smart stop' function 'fOr SaViNg FuEl' which is more annoying than it helped
    - mine doesn't want to go faster than 100km/h (62mph) measured with GPS, and its speedometer is not really accurate with 100km/h GPS shown 110km/h on the dash
    - it is really fuel efficient if you don't drive it like mad
    - mine doesn't have side reflector at the front fork and the tail
    - mine have (gloss)black/(matte)black colour, with gold model badge and gold wheels, very out of place

      When I was young, in my early teens I had a red Honda 70 trail bike. I could also ride it on the road. Had it a few years till it was stolen. I’ve thought about that Honda 70 most of my life. I’m old now and have been looking at the Honda ADV 150 abs. I’m totally sold and in love with the idea it being totally automatic. The 70 was semi automatic as you still had to shift gears with your foot. I do plan on getting one and planned to get a brand new 2022. However I have been hearing about Honda possibly upgrading the ADV 150 to make it ADV 160, which would be my preference. Not that I’ve ever taken a bike on a highway but with the ADV 160 it would be possible if necessary. Would you know if that rumor is valid. Because I personally would even wait till 2023 to buy the ADV160 as opposed to the ADV150. Please let me know what you think. I love watching any and all videos on the ADV 150. Like I said I’m in love with it and I haven’t even ridden one yet.

    I own a 2022 Honda ADV 150 currently with about 2,700 miles averaging about 104 mpg. Having anti lock disc brake up front and rear drum brake on rear is of no concern. This scooter has plenty of power going on short highway strides and stops very smoothly. I was fortunate to find one in Iowa to buy. Thank You Honda Corp.👍❤️

    Big time on the bigger models. I’d love to own the 300 version of this bike. I’ve ridden the PCX Scooter, and while it’s on from entrance ramp to exit, it’s under powered. I own a Forza and it rocks. I also own a Silver Wing, and it’s definitely the right stuff. I’d hate to buy this and next year the bigger model becomes ready & present in the USA. I like the looks of the ADV 150 but I'd rather have the engine of the PCX 160. Why does Honda give you "almost" everything, but not quite the whole package. Either will be an upgrade to my Ruckus, but my brain hurts trying to decide. PCX 160 review next?

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      lol those are my thoughts too, so close but I understand they are on different development cycles etc and that's why we don't see an ADV160 just yet. If I were in the market though, it would always be in the back of my head wondering if they were going to release it with the larger engine the following year. I try not to think about that when buying something as it can drive you crazy but still, we all do it lol! With that being said, I wouldn't let the slight horsepower difference sway you too much if you're on the fence and are leaning more towards the ADV but that's the only thing holding you back ;)
      Yessir, PCX160 video is coming soon... well, when I can find one lol! Inventory is so scarce these days it's crazy. People didn't believe me when I told them last summer that it still wouldn't be back to normal by the end of 2021 and sadly that has turned out to be spot on. Crazy times!

      I was really looking for a 250-300cc range, as I'm about 220lb and living in western Maine foothills, we've got a lot of hills and logging trucks whizzing by. Plus, there's 3 miles of dirt road to get to my offgrid house, over a mile of it being my driveway. However, there's nothing in those displacement ranges available new here in my area, as it goes from 50s-150s, and then 500s+. I'm a Honda guy through and through though (360k on my Ridgeline), so I thought "hell with it" and bought the adv150... I'll receive it two weeks from now. I figure that if/when a higher displacement upgrade comes along, I'll just sell (or trade in) the 150 for a very high resale and roll that into the larger one. All while saving tons on gas. It really doesn't make sense to sit and wait anymore, not with the long waits and limited stocks trickling in, compounded with the fact that dealerships are buying up used stuff at high prices abd the used market is hot and none of this is likely to change for at least 3 to 5 years.

      @HondaProKevin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Robert! Oh yeah, the Helix is where it's at for riding 2-up. It wasn't really a "looker" by any means but in my opinion, the Helix is hands down the most comfortable scooter Honda has ever made. We really do need a midsize model again here in the states and Honda has a few different options that they could bring over and I think they'd sell like hotcakes but I'm guessing they don't think so and that's why we haven't seen them yet. I think the lackluster sales of the Reflex, Forza Big Ruckus etc have them a little gun-shy on actually pulling the trigger. I have a sneaky suspicion that we'll see the new Forza 350 soon but I could be way off base on that one, fingers crossed though as we need more options, more larger options to be specific as we have a couple little guys to choose from currently.

    I just moved to Thailand I'm about to buy a new scooter. I've test rode a lot of them the Yamaha N-Max and Aerox are OUT. Right now I'm considering the Hondas; PCX150/160, ADV150/160, or Forza 350. These scooters cost a little under $3,000 here except for the Forza 350 which is over $5,000. There are special/sporty variants as well. Right now I'm leaning towards a PCX160 as riding here in Thailand a Forza is sometimes too big/bulky for the crowded parking areas.

    It looks great and brings much needed street cred to the smaller scooter segment. Zontes is doing similar things (they also build many BMW bike engines), don't know if you get Zontes in Tenn. I would prefer if the bike was 200cc with around 25cm ground clearance instead of the 17cm, for a bit more adventure. Talking about cm, Strange mix of metric and US units in your review with litres and gallons, just an aside. I've noticed many people in US often talking about a 2 litre soda then going back to fluid ounces for other bottles.

    What is the difference between the current ADV150 and PCX motors?

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question! At first, you may think it's just a 149cc vs 156.9cc engine but there is a lot more at play other than their bore and stroke etc. The PCX has a 4 valve head whereas the ADV has a 2 valve. The PCX has a 28mm throttle body vs the ADV at 26mm. The PCX also has a higher compression ratio at 12.0:1 compared to 10.6:1. They both make their peak horsepower at 8,500rpm and peak torque at 6,500rpm but the PCX does make about 1.4 more horsepower and about 1 more lb/ft torque. It may not sound like a lot but when you start to figure in percentages, it's a decent little bump. However, if I loved everything about the ADV and the engine difference was the only thing slowing me down from pulling the trigger on it versus the PCX, I'd still take the ADV. It's just deciding on if the features and styling etc on the ADV outweigh a little performance difference for you.
      Sorry for rambling on, hope the info was of some help ;)

      Exactly! These things have to be the coolest, most versatile and easiest bikes in Honda's lineup that anyone could hop on and just have a blast with. It really does tick a lot of boxes and at the end of the day, it's a Honda so you know the reliability is there so you can beat on it and bring out your inner hooligan both on and off-road lol! Honda makes a rear carrier to mount a trunk on but when it comes to the aftermarket world, there are a ton of options as the markets overseas have really hopped on board with modifying these.

    Is it stars and leaps better than the 2020 PCX150? Would it really be worth it on the monthly payments overall for the 2022 ADV or is the 2020 PCX150 a good enough scooter on its own? I was looking for a review video on the 2020 PCX150 but all i could find was this video. Our dealer has a few Ruckuses? lol and a few 2020 PCX 150's but no ADVs :( I'm asking because my wife wants to get her first scooter to get to and from work (less than 4 miles a day) and she was instantly drawn to the ruckus because of its adventurey look (totally a word) but after I looked into it i couldn't help but think it would be more worthwhile to upgrade to a pcx or adv could you please share any thoughts and input that could help us make a decision were gonna head down later this week to do a seat test but your videos have been a huge help and i would love any wisdom you care to share with us.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the ADV150 vs a 2020 PCX150, I would go with the one that I liked the styling better on and which one was more comfortable. They are so close that for a normal rider, doing "normal" scooter riding on that you won't see a big difference between them. If she's on the smaller side then the PCX might feel a little better to her as it does have a 1.2" lower seat height. Plus, if she's actually wanting to ride it on the road and you don't live downtown in a city where a lot of roads are 35mph, I would mark the Ruckus off the list. It's a great scooter but she'll be pegged out at 35'ish, with a backwind and going down a mountain she may click off 40mph but that's it whereas with the ADV or PCX she'll be able to hop on most roads and highways without having to worry about getting ran over like on a Ruckus.
      Best of luck on the hunt and if you have any other questions just let me know bud ;)
      Oh and I'm glad to hear I'm not alone on the adventurey lol!

      Honda doesn't do the same model years across the board for the world, you'll have different colors for each model year depending on the country etc. Sometimes you'll even have entirely different spec models too but they are called the same name. We get to thank politics from country to country for how confusing it can be lol!

      Oh yeah, definitely! It's just that this rona mess has really thrown a wrench in things. I've been involved with Honda for 15 years and have never seen a supply chain issue like this from parts to bikes, just everything for the most part. I've been waiting on a simple part for a month now that has had its backorder release date pushed back twice. Any other time, this wouldn't be a problem and it would be readily available - just like how your PCX brake pads would normally be. I never thought I'd see the day Honda was this crippled...
      Have you checked these guys by any chance? www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/p/honda/06455-kre-k02/pad-set-fr . Most websites I checked here in the USA are showing not available for your brake pad part number but they aren't, that's not to say their website is wrong though like many lol. Also, if you're open to ordering from outside the USA, there businesses overseas selling the same OEM part but it'll cost you an extra buck or two in shipping. Examples: japan.webike.net/products/24328623.html & bikerzbits.co.th/pad-set-fr-06455-kre-k02.html

      Oh yeah, the ADV is a cool little machine for sure! I wish American Honda would hurry up and import its big brother, I think it'd do well here in the states.
      Appreciate the kind words ;)

      Thanks for the recommendation! It's been next to impossible to get my hands on a 2021 PCX so it'll probably be a 2022 model year and in a couple of months before I'm able to post one sadly. That could change though and I end up having access to one this week so fingers crossed ;)
