Morning Shaun, just wondering about open time for the areas you show on the great video. I'm an early Birdered, but are some gates shut to the public. ? In that heat earlier the better, for me and the Bird Watching. Cheers.
Don't worry mate I'm a first light birder too most days I left the house so early it was still dark. Literally the only place with a time constraint was the Albufera wetland. So you are good to go.
I had my many of those raptors in this video's as lifers this year- quite a few being from my families house in France- everytime I return I find something that I hadn't the previous years. Honey buzzard was a surprise but in hindsight should off been expected but the booted eagle, short-toed eagle , black-winged kite were complete surprises.
Thanks a lot mate. Yeah, first thing my mate said when I got him to proof watch it was to break it up but I guess like you did you can always stop and start. But yes next vids will be a little shorter. 👍
Shaun, what a great video and great timing, we are in Mallorca at the moment and visited S'Albufera de Mallorca yesterday, we enjoyed it so much we are planning on coming back early November for a birding only holiday, i will be ablevto bring my proper photography gear with me next time. Your video will provide a great reference tool for our next visit to Mallorca, thanks for creating such an informative video.
@@sferguk1 The video is amazing btw. Fantastic job on the edit! Really interesting to see some of the places you visited - I thought I knew the island pretty well, but I've learned a lot from watching, so thank you! I've never been on the saddle above Cuber before, but it looks amazing. I've only ever looked up at it!
@@BranwenVlogs No, thank you for inspiring me to get my arse into gear and start making full length birding videos all those years ago. I'm still not fully comfortable in front of the camera but I'm getting there. Also with more updated kit the footage quality will improve too....just need to go rob a bank to afford it all.
Great video Shaun. Watched parts of it a few times over. I’m off to Mallorca and staying near S’Albufeira next month, would you be able to give me some detail on how to find the watering hole 1:02:09 into the video? Keep up the good work!
Just booked a week up near Polenca for early July, then discovered your vid. How useful was that?! I'll be playing it from time to time just to whet my appetite. Right now I'm looking out on a February snowscape in the Yorkshire Pennines...a long way from Mallorca!
@@sferguk1 I'm thinking of improving my camera setup, as it happens pretty often that I get a fairly good look at a bird, usually something small, brown, and streaky, but still don't manage to positively ID it. I think a photo would help a lot in these cases!
@Jake Reich if you travel to a new bird rich area and you are not familiar with the birds and don't have a bird guide rattling off what you are looking at I don't know how else you'd do it tbh. I have birded all over the world and have used photos when I get home to tally up what I've seen loads of times.
Hi Shaun, visiting Mallorca in months to come, how long would you say in from where you can park at Mortitx Vinyes to the Bonellis viewing area? You say because of the heat to be early, how early? Great vids and shots.
What a post this is! .... It came in so handy for my trip to Majorca! Thank you Shaun for taking the time and patience to create this for us. Could I ask what camera you are using for your video?
Ahhh great stuff glad you found it useful as research for your own trip over. Great place to go birding isn't it. I can't bare to just lie on the beach so I'm here there and everywhere on the island when we visit. That was actually filmed with my old beat up bridge camera the old Canon SX60 it was even a bit wonky why filming there and has now been retired. It's the 3rd one I've gone through over the years.
Hi Shaun, Thank you for making AND sharing this great video, of birding in Mallorca. We moved here in September, and we so far only knew of some of the sites you visited, so we have a lot to look forward to ! I recall that your early videos were shot with a Canon SX60, are you still using that ? If so, you have mastered it. Wonderful work.
Yip unfortunately still stuck with vastly out dated faulty kit. Hopefully going forward I'll be updating these slowly....for instance my mobile phone now takes much better footage for vlogging while on the run and I have been loaned a nice high end DSLR which I'll be using in SA so hopefully my next video shot in South Africa will be better. But thanks for your kind comments anyway they are much appreciated and thanks for watching. Oh and I'm not jealous of you living on Mallorca....NO, NOT AT ALL!!!

Great video with so good bird information
Thank you so much for this great upload!!! Wonderful footage, and very useful information for my coming trip in October. Very appreciated 🙏
Have a great trip glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful.
Love your vids! Looks like a great trip. Thanks for posting
Appreciate that thanks.
Great filming. I'm going to Mallorca next winter. Thanks.
Enjoy it's a hell of a place even besides the birds.
Simply fabulous, a huge thank you.
Brilliant film. Thanks for making this !!
No probs, glad you enjoyed it.
Watching this for a second time, loving it. Off to Mallorca for a family wedding in four weeks. Staying very close to Albufera.
Fantastic glad you enjoyed it I hope it proves useful to you. I know I enjoyed collecting the footage. Well jealous of your up coming trip.
Hi Shaun , great video. Just booked to stay very close to the Albufera over looking the marshland. This is such a great guide. Thanks
Ah that's great, glad you found it useful. Blimey I wish I were going back there myself. Have a great time.

Most enjoyable, Thank you!
Loved it mate, well done !!!

Ooh I can already tell this is going to be brilliant. I can also tell how much I'm going to want to go back to Mallorca!!
I know right. I was physically there for only 2 weeks but was there for a further 6 months in my head while editing the footage hahahahaha

Really nice video footage 👍 I just wondered what zoom camera are you using? it looks good.
It's a very old and knackered Canon SX60 almost time for it to be retired.
Was July your first choice of time to go?
Absolutely not, it was way to late in the season. I'd go late April and May rather.
Great vlog. 👍 some zoom on that camera. What camera and lens is it?
Little old Canon SX60 bridge camera. Now retired.
Great video mate. What camera did you take on this trip please?
My very old and dying cheapo Canon Powershot SX60, now retired.
Really great video!
Out of curiosity, do you ever have to use your footage to ID a bird?
When I travel and birds come in fast and furiously and I can't keep up I take photos of everyone I see then yes use the pics to ID them later.

The video is 1.5hr, the intro music lasts for 53 seconds give it another chance, just mute it until then.
