    Interesting to listen to. The media should not be government funded. Maori, are about 17% of the population, therefore should only have 17% of the say, not 50% or co government. There should only be one hospital system, not one racially divided. Having watched a clip yesterday where two girls were asked about the new prime minister they didn’t seem to know much about what was going on, I think they were helped out a bit and replied if he’s Labour he must be good. The voting age must not be lowered. But these are just my opinions. Have a good day everyone.

      If the law and the courts have said the voting age discriminates to those age 16 to 18. What law should be changed?

    • @scottlewisparsons9551
      @scottlewisparsons9551 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@adsdft585 of course the voting age discriminates those aged 16 to 18. What I am saying is that the voting age should not be lowered because most people younger than 18 are too immature to have a sensible opinion on political matters. I have not heard any discrimination argument about lowering the driving age, probably for the same reason that I have just suggested, yet the legal driving age does also discriminate those under that age, however, having most younger people driving would just be stupid. Left leaning politicians like the idea of a lower voting age as most in the 16 to 18 age would probably vote for them. When I was young I liked some of the Marxist and socialist ideas a lot. However, by the time that I was 21 and could vote I realised that most far left socialist ideas were unworkable and cost the taxpayers, by then me, too much. You can’t put an old head on young shoulders.

NZ is too small and if we are ever going to compete with the world then sure we are stronger as 1 country / 1 people (regardless of ethnic race / religion / upbringing / or belief). Also, its not the Governments money - the funds come from tax payers and should not be used to fund the media to push a political narrative.

    We are one nation and one people. We New Zealanders are all one people no matter what your creed, colour, race or religion, it is citizenship that defines a New Zealander not the segment of immigrants that brought and practiced aggressive tribalism & warfare in this country before the European settlers from Northern Hemisphere arrived and established the principles of law and order in this island nation. Tribalism with all its nasty ways was not peaceful. There are numerous accounts tribal warfare, tribes conquering other tribes, killing, enslaving and far worse accounts of what happened to the members of other tribes. Tribism does not work in Africa, it does not work in the Middle East, it did not work in Zambia, Burma, South Africa its not working between Russia & Ukraine. Whether black, white, brown, yellow or red tribalism has not worked and does not work. Is regards to unity it also does not matter what color you are or what mixer of DNA runs in viens. Tribalism does not work primarily because the lowest common denominator of our human race is greed. From the beginning of the human race when it was more like an uncivilised animal kingdom when the conquers took all they could from other tribes to grow their empires. Some of mankind have matured since then, accepted the need for the rule of fair laws, developed written languages as in New Zealand by using the A to Z of the alphabet and the shared teachings of the accepted English international language. There were European settlers prior to the Treaty that those settlers, Scottish, Welsh, , French wanted to get away from the English and the French systems of governance, they were not invited to sign the treaty that various tribal chiefs signed. New Zealand needs peace more than any other time in its history since tribal warfare was common practice in this country. We have had a truely multi cultural population even before the vast number of different cultures established in New Zealand and became citizens. I personally have the blood of 4 cultural identites running through my viens, I am a adopted bitsa that was put into a NZ government Maori school grandmother

    In three or four generations, the majority of people in NZ will qualify as Maori under the 1974 Treaty of Waitangi Act. They may not, of course- but in theory they could band together and outvote everybody else. Then- who would be in charge?

    • @shauntempley9757
      @shauntempley9757 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Precisely. The Treaty fully protects both peoples. The thing is, it has not been fully respected, or implemented with that Treaty. The Waitangi Tribunal is the main voice in this field.
      As for He Puapua, it was always a look into what Maori thought UNDRIP should mean for them, and luckily, it is always framed in the Treaty. It is a totally different story if Maori went with the 1835 Treaty.
      For everyone else, UNDRIP clearly goes into intricate detail what it means for Article 2 of that Treaty, and where the state stands, and that document mentions it. How that is met could simply mean an Upper House that deals with that, and simply including Maori input, using Maori MPs.
      This document also includes tribes totally destroyed by the New Zealand Trading Company. Which Geneva indicated was an occupation under international law, and they are a ticking time bomb that will destroy this nation in violence, if their voices are ignored much further.
      At the end of the day, this mess is what happens when authority and democracy both ignored and restricted Maori over all these years since it was first signed into existence.
