In my first playthrough, I nearly killed myself getting the Cuman stuff, so when they told me about this scheme, I told them no way! I never saw them again, so I wondered what happened to them.

First there was the throwing shit at the house to get you in trouble, which I rejected, then you vouch for them to get a job and they complain and want you to get someone fired, they don’t stick around too long after that, while it’s nice that you got their first pay and training, when they wanted the cumin stuff but not put in the effort, only to realize that they wanted to play dress up in order to become bandits. Mathew didn’t have a second thought at the risk of Henry losing his job. The game thought it would trick me in feeling sad but I’ve gone out of my way for these guy only to be deceived at every step. Soooooo glad I betrayed them. As for Andrew, he lied about the cross.
My favourite way to go about it is to mention stealing the coin in Talmberg instead of the quarry, Andrew says I’m on my own, I say well I’ll keep the coin to myself then, he says “coin is no use to a dead man” - make of that what you will - Successfully steal the coin in Talmberg then when they ask you to share it, refuse. They’ll attack you and you can kill them yourself guilt free. Their presence in Pslavitz isn’t needed because at that point in the game you have a dozen better ways to make money.
Man, it's so easy to miss both quests if you return the possessions to Adam in "Besmirched" and not talk to Matthew before starting the main quest "The Die is Cast", as later on he will no longer have any option to talk with him. But I guess it turned out for the best, because I have an end game save with all of them alive for Pribyslavitz. Anyway nice content as always, and thanks for showing all the options.
It can be tricky to keep them alive. But once you do the judgement and they're "productive" members of the village it feels like it was all worth the effort to redeem them.
Yeah, I was only showing the outcome of the quest if you actually finish it. I might not have said it clearly enough but I didn't actually go for it. If you invite them to Pribyslavitz there's also a judgement that you can do that makes them shape up and actually contribute to the town. So it's worth saving them because they'll *eventually* grow up.
@@SequentialGamer_KCD No, I am sorry, but I always inform captain Robard ,and make sure he strengthens the guard.Those poor stonemasons break their backs and work very hard each day (working in a stone quarry is HARD, especially since this is still medieval times, and they don´t have the help of modern technology) and they deserve to get their pay.By trying to rob them ,Matthew and Fritz officially became just like the bandit scum that ambush and rob travelers on the roads.And as such ,I only pity what they became ,not their deaths.
I know what you mean! I agree that the moral thing is to strengthen the garrison, that's what I usually do. But I also replace the money via the method I mentioned in the video so they give up on the crime without actually robbing the quarry. Avoids hurting anyone. There's definiltey some conflict with how to deal with Matthew and Fritz. They're your childhood friends but they're also bastards so people tend to have a wide variety of responses.
You can get so much money late game and from Pribyslavitz easily, but only for you, not the poor workers. Matthew and Fritz got all the opportunities given to them and all they did was spit in it. They were destined to be leeches and thieves, so they get treated like one
It's not really a hidden quest.. but it has one of the darkest potential outcomes. But you haven't really lived until you've sent Zbyshek to the gallows. Has anyone experienced this awesome moment?
I didnt realise that leaving money was an option lmao. I couldn't go through with it in the end and i ended up stealth killing Fritz and fought Mathew on that hill as they were overlooking the quarry. Wish there was a way you could talk them out of it, maybe even convince them into being part of your town guard at Pribislavitz. Give them a shot at an honest life lol
Fair enough! If you leave them alive you can eventually recruit them to come to Pribyslavitz. They'll be a drain on the economy but eventually you'll also get a judgement where you give them the option of contributing or getting kicked out. They become a minor profit source after that.

Would be cool to see some crazy option like taking them out and bringing far from quest until wage transfer is over. Devs probably designed this robbery a limited time opportunity. They wouldn't kill Henry, would they? I think they'll throw a fist fight at max.
i was helping guards fightings bandits, honor rises, as i was walking with drawing weapon, i got arrested at the same time for committing a crime (?) and facing 7 days imprisoning, what the hell? ..nice vid btw
Sometimes getting involved in a fight between bandits and guards results in the guards bugging out and thinking you started a fight with the bandits. So they'll try and arrest you occasionally. It's best to wait until the bandits aggro on you but that's not perfect.

Yeah, you have to actively try and save them because they'll do their best to get killed at the Quarry. But it's really something that the game actually allows you to go the other way and actually send them to the hangman!
Somehow, I lagged this quest so hard. I kept them waiting too long and now i just carry that sack around because they are nowhere and i dont need it :D
I don't think the colic can be handled like that. It's usual death sentence for them only curable by surgery or sometimes it goes away, but that's more a miracle. Our horse died from it.

I wanted to avoid MAttew ane Fritz being killed but also I did not want to rob the Quarrymen, so what I did is basically going straight to the tower in Talmberg that the groshen is being stored, stealing it all, then I open the chest again and place it all back in there +10% more, the game still detects it as the money being stolen, but in my roleplay I end up helping everyone.
You are a true angel of mercy! I never proceeded with the quest the first time because I was playing by my true morals but I went back on a second playthrough and got them all hanged and received the Judas Award achievement for my efforts.
2:51 Actually Henry doesnt do all the work and both of them actually do something useful if you ask them what they found out at the Quarry later. They know exactly where they'll keep the money, etc.
Don't know why I thought of this. But I think I want to try a low down pick pocket thief. Or a "Robin Hood" type playthrough. Using little to no armor. I tried it once but failed miserably
My general approach to roleplay in this game is to just do all the shady criminal quests immediately after Henry arrives at the Rattay Mill and before swearing into Radzig's service. It makes the game feel more like a redemption story with Henry going from a thief and a rogue to a noble man at arms. Plus you can get an early start on levels and collecting money/gear. And I usually do side with Matthew and Fritz over Andrew, Team Skalitz for life.
I saved them and framed Andrew ( figured he had it coming anyway). I wanted Matthew and Fritz for Pribyslavitz. Matthew was just outside the inn in the glade with his horse but Fritz is no where to be seen! I asked Matthew to Pribyslavitz and he said yes but hasn't moved there yet and it's been days and still no sign of Fritz 🙁! Anyone else experienced this bug?
That's odd, they should be hanging about the Tavern at Pribyslavitz. Maybe you don't have one? But having said that, that's not a big deal .. you can't do anything with them other than the judgement involving them.
Didn't realise Fritz and Matthew were such pieces of shit, I always used to steal it from Talmberg myself, then eventually get them back to Prib for the bonuses.

Is there any actual confirmation that doing the switcheroo actually leads to quarrymen being paid? Or there is absolutely no in-game mention of this event resolution and it's just there for you to feel better? It's kinda ridiculous how they're trying to commit full-scale robbery, possibly murder or two as well, and are openly talking about it to Henry .. who's been slaughtering bandits and cumans all over the county. Would've prefered an option to beat some sense into them and drag the off to Pribyslavitz 😁
in-game the robbery still happeened because I took the 3000 groshen object. I left 3000 for roleplaying but the game can't take that into account. As for the two fools, this is basically the culmination of their dreams of becoming robbers. They can either die or get rich (regardless of me pickpocketing the money out of them later LOL). I can see what the storyline was trying to do, it's forcing you into a situation of getting them killed or staying loyal to your friends.
I tried to game the quest and ended up breaking it. I told the talberg garrison about the robbery, then waited for Matthew and Fritz to attack. Before they attacked the guards i knocked them both out and dragged them away. Eventually they stopped trying to go there and ended up disappearing. Its been days and the "watch the robbery" is still active and no resolution in sight. Tried to save them without robbing anyone legit. Any ideas how to resolve this without reloading days previously?
If they're not back at the Inn at the Glade then it looks like you've glitched the game. They're meant to die during the attack, but I've seen them win though I reloaded so I don't know if it breaks the game.
@@SequentialGamer_KCD I decided to reload a save right before they attack the quarry and let the battle play out as normal, with them being slaughtered. As the generally lawful good Henry I play, I felt this is the most moral option. They had all the opportunity to back out and do the right thing. They worst part is, if you loot their bodies you find out they had over 3K groshen on them already between the two of them, so they had PLENTY of money to get by already and start life anew, so that makes this option the 'most right' one in my head-canon.
so does the game actually acknowledge leaving money for the quarrymen or is that just roleplay? like will it say in one way or another that they got paid? if it really says that the quarrymen get paid ill leave extra for them, if not im just going to be a bad henry.
It's roleplay only. The quest can only have two outcomes, the robbery happens or Matthew & Fritz do the robbery and most likely die. The only way to prevent them dying is to "technically" do the robbery but I roleplay my way around it. There's no long term impact either way.
They physically set off for the inn and it takes them at least half a day to get there, so if you headed back to the inn immediately then they might still be coming. Try waiting a few hours and they may be sleeping in the room.
Nobody, the tavern maid keeps doing the selling and room renting that they usually do at other taverns but for that location she becomes the only one who does that because Andrew is now gone.
I don't know if it's cancelled completely but it's recommended to do all the side-quests before going into Vranik. After that the end of the game kicks-in.
I know this is really late, but I hope it helps; if you go on to the quests where you enter the monastery or sneak into Vranik all of your current sides are failed and canceled.
If you follow the main quests straight away then yeah, he wouldn't have the hunting skills at that point. That's why I play with the house rules like not going to Radzig straight away. But having said that, the lord of the castle knows about Henry's and Radzig's relationship, so you could argue that that's playing into it.
@@SequentialGamer_KCD personally I think you shouldn't stress too much. Just do what you do. For example: the reason I enjoy your content is because it seems like you like discovering and seeing every possible route / situation in a quest and I love that aspect of this game. And to me, it seems like you do this quite naturally, it's not your editing skills or your script or w.e that makes it entertaining, it's you doing what you like doing.

You need to have the "bag" object on you when you speak to them. What I did was put 3000 gold back in the chest. So technically speaking the chest had 3000 gold after I stole the bag ..
@@SequentialGamer_KCD eventually I got it to where they would still both fight me but I’d just surrender or knock them out and eventually they’d let me talk to them to recruit them to the village.. still took two tries about an hour each to figure it out but you can still mess up to that point and not have to kill them. Just curious. What did you think was the best solution? Im making a run with 0 items stolen 0 value stolen 0 value pickpocket and 0 civillian kills. So, the best way i can complete this quest is to say no to mathews plan and letting them get killed, but they will kill innocent people on the quarry and i cant aford that. So the only true way i can keep going is not even start your friends quest and avoid them to do it at all. What ever i do, i have to : rob the money, let friends kill quarry people and die. Even if you make them all 3 hang u have to steal first and it counts. So, its sad to say best way is to not even start the quest.
Personally I steal the wages item and replace it with 3000 groshen, so technically not stealing, and then I pickpocket the money from Matthew & Fritz when they're sleeping. So technically no stealing and no robbery took place.

Imagine, i cant grab any item that counts as stolen so it kills me after 80hours of 0 items stolen and 0 value, to have 1 item stolen and 3k value on stats. Another element I discovered accidentally: If you mug Fritz and Andrew while they're waiting at the quarry, both quests are broken, and they turn hostile to you forever after.
MAGA Make America Godly Again Some how when I did this quest, I broke it a little. Andrew got hung and I couldn't find Fritz and Mathew. About a week later, I ran into them above the quarry.
wouldn't sir Divish have to pay for the wages if they never got the money tho? or is he so poor/heartless that he refuse? it's as much his fault for not securing the wages properly. 2 drunk kids stole it. Mathew and fritz are not of adult age in the game. blaming them is like blaming a child for robing fort Knox. if that were to happen, the guards at Fort Knox would lose their job and well deserved. its like robbing a store. you're not harming anyone as the store is insured. if it wasn't for the violent nature of the crime nobody would really care I think
Divish would still pay, otherwise he's not going to have quarrymen for long, but he wouldn't be happy. If you pull off the theft he wouldn't know who'd done it so that's why we don't get a reaction. But if you tell Robard about the robbery and therfore Divish knows who did it then you can see them hang.

I stole the coin from talmberg n went 2 Matthew 2 give it but I didn't get any options whatsoever Henry out of nowhere decided 2 keep the coin 4 himself resulting in fritz n Matthew trying 2 kill you... I wanted 2 give the coin but it didn't let me... I stole it a few days b4 the supposed delivery

I lost all saves when my PC died but I'm catching up to where I was before via streams on the weekend. Once I'm caught up I should be able to pick up where I left off.
Is there any actual confirmation that doing the switcheroo actually leads to quarrymen being paid? Or there is absolutely no in-game mention of this event resolution and it's just there for you to feel better?
It's kinda ridiculous how they're trying to commit full-scale robbery, possibly murder or two as well, and are openly talking about it to Henry .. who's been slaughtering bandits and cumans all over the county. Would've prefered an option to beat some sense into them and drag the off to Pribyslavitz 😁
in-game the robbery still happeened because I took the 3000 groshen object. I left 3000 for roleplaying but the game can't take that into account.
As for the two fools, this is basically the culmination of their dreams of becoming robbers. They can either die or get rich (regardless of me pickpocketing the money out of them later LOL). I can see what the storyline was trying to do, it's forcing you into a situation of getting them killed or staying loyal to your friends.
I tried to game the quest and ended up breaking it. I told the talberg garrison about the robbery, then waited for Matthew and Fritz to attack. Before they attacked the guards i knocked them both out and dragged them away. Eventually they stopped trying to go there and ended up disappearing. Its been days and the "watch the robbery" is still active and no resolution in sight. Tried to save them without robbing anyone legit. Any ideas how to resolve this without reloading days previously?
If they're not back at the Inn at the Glade then it looks like you've glitched the game. They're meant to die during the attack, but I've seen them win though I reloaded so I don't know if it breaks the game.
@@SequentialGamer_KCD I decided to reload a save right before they attack the quarry and let the battle play out as normal, with them being slaughtered. As the generally lawful good Henry I play, I felt this is the most moral option. They had all the opportunity to back out and do the right thing. They worst part is, if you loot their bodies you find out they had over 3K groshen on them already between the two of them, so they had PLENTY of money to get by already and start life anew, so that makes this option the 'most right' one in my head-canon.
so does the game actually acknowledge leaving money for the quarrymen or is that just roleplay? like will it say in one way or another that they got paid? if it really says that the quarrymen get paid ill leave extra for them, if not im just going to be a bad henry.
It's roleplay only. The quest can only have two outcomes, the robbery happens or Matthew & Fritz do the robbery and most likely die. The only way to prevent them dying is to "technically" do the robbery but I roleplay my way around it. There's no long term impact either way.
Anyone knows where Matthew and Fritz go after this quest? They are not dead on my play but I cannot find them in the upper room.
They physically set off for the inn and it takes them at least half a day to get there, so if you headed back to the inn immediately then they might still be coming. Try waiting a few hours and they may be sleeping in the room.
I can't put the sack in the inn for some reason, but I have it, and I can see the option "Use".
Sounds like a bug. Maybe report it to Warhorse

Nobody, the tavern maid keeps doing the selling and room renting that they usually do at other taverns but for that location she becomes the only one who does that because Andrew is now gone.

Is this quest cancelled if you just go for Vranik? It's my first playthrought but I know many Talmberg quests may get cancelled.
I don't know if it's cancelled completely but it's recommended to do all the side-quests before going into Vranik. After that the end of the game kicks-in.

I know this is really late, but I hope it helps; if you go on to the quests where you enter the monastery or sneak into Vranik all of your current sides are failed and canceled.

From what I remember from the quest, don't you get them the armor?
That Henry is becoming the Master Huntsman is so stupid and makes absolutly no sense.....
If you follow the main quests straight away then yeah, he wouldn't have the hunting skills at that point. That's why I play with the house rules like not going to Radzig straight away.
But having said that, the lord of the castle knows about Henry's and Radzig's relationship, so you could argue that that's playing into it.

Are they waiting at the camp? They need to be there and I believe you have to accept the mission to do something about the escort as well.

If you mean the "Gallows brothers" quest, then you should just not hand it in. It'll will expire once you enter Vranik.

For example: the reason I enjoy your content is because it seems like you like discovering and seeing every possible route / situation in a quest and I love that aspect of this game. And to me, it seems like you do this quite naturally, it's not your editing skills or your script or w.e that makes it entertaining, it's you doing what you like doing.

I stole the money and placed it back but didn’t have an option to give them the money it just made me fight them so I’m gonna try to not fight them and see if they’ll still be aggressive at the inn they return too
You need to have the "bag" object on you when you speak to them. What I did was put 3000 gold back in the chest. So technically speaking the chest had 3000 gold after I stole the bag ..
@@SequentialGamer_KCD eventually I got it to where they would still both fight me but I’d just surrender or knock them out and eventually they’d let me talk to them to recruit them to the village.. still took two tries about an hour each to figure it out but you can still mess up to that point and not have to kill them. Your video definitely helped tho thanks man
Just curious. What did you think was the best solution? Im making a run with 0 items stolen 0 value stolen 0 value pickpocket and 0 civillian kills. So, the best way i can complete this quest is to say no to mathews plan and letting them get killed, but they will kill innocent people on the quarry and i cant aford that. So the only true way i can keep going is not even start your friends quest and avoid them to do it at all. What ever i do, i have to : rob the money, let friends kill quarry people and die. Even if you make them all 3 hang u have to steal first and it counts. So, its sad to say best way is to not even start the quest.
Personally I steal the wages item and replace it with 3000 groshen, so technically not stealing, and then I pickpocket the money from Matthew & Fritz when they're sleeping. So technically no stealing and no robbery took place.
@@SequentialGamer_KCD yeah bit the thing is that tecnically you do steal it xd. Because its not the same groschen item, and game counts it too so i cant lie to myself in this run. Imagine, i cant grab any item that counts as stolen so it kills me after 80hours of 0 items stolen and 0 value, to have 1 item stolen and 3k value on stats. Im even resisting the tentation to take red noble hood from stephanie because it counts as tecnically rob hehehhe. Ty for thr answer mate, i see a lot of your videos. ;)

Another element I discovered accidentally: If you mug Fritz and Andrew while they're waiting at the quarry, both quests are broken, and they turn hostile to you forever after.
Hmm .. can't say I've tried that before actually finishing the quest. I'll give it a go if I get a chance!

Some how when I did this quest, I broke it a little. Andrew got hung and I couldn't find Fritz and Mathew. About a week later, I ran into them above the quarry.
wouldn't sir Divish have to pay for the wages if they never got the money tho? or is he so poor/heartless that he refuse? it's as much his fault for not securing the wages properly. 2 drunk kids stole it. Mathew and fritz are not of adult age in the game. blaming them is like blaming a child for robing fort Knox. if that were to happen, the guards at Fort Knox would lose their job and well deserved. its like robbing a store. you're not harming anyone as the store is insured. if it wasn't for the violent nature of the crime nobody would really care I think
Divish would still pay, otherwise he's not going to have quarrymen for long, but he wouldn't be happy. If you pull off the theft he wouldn't know who'd done it so that's why we don't get a reaction.
But if you tell Robard about the robbery and therfore Divish knows who did it then you can see them hang.
The store is insured, but the insurance cost increases...so you're harming the store owner.

Weird... I stole the coin from talmberg n went 2 Matthew 2 give it but I didn't get any options whatsoever Henry out of nowhere decided 2 keep the coin 4 himself resulting in fritz n Matthew trying 2 kill you... I wanted 2 give the coin but it didn't let me... I stole it a few days b4 the supposed delivery
Did you speak to them about the option of stealing it from Talmberg? I believe that's necessary.
