    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
In order to get the court to believe in Him, God (George Burns) performs a miracle.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Adapted by Larry Gelbart from the novel by Avery Corman, the film stars John Denver as Jerry Landers, the assistant manager of a grocery store who is chosen by God (George Burns) to spread the Word to the rest of the world. Not surprisingly, Jerry is soon labelled a basket case: even his loving wife Bobbie (Teri Garr) doubts her husband's sanity. But there's enough evidence on Jerry's side for a panel of prominent clerics to demand that the hapless fellow prove in court that he's the agent of God. Donald Pleasence was supposed to have an extended supporting role in the film, but the first cut ran too long, and Pleasence's dialogue was eliminated -- but not Pleasence himself, who retains his prominent billing and is seen doing precisely nothing in several scenes. Netting $30 million on its first run, Oh God was followed by two lesser sequels, both featuring Burns.
    CREDITS:
    TM & © Warner Bros. (1977)
Cast: George Burns, John Denver, Murphy Dunne, Barnard Hughes, Paul Sorvino
    Director: Carl Reiner
    Producer: Jerry Weintraub
    Screenwriters: Avery Corman, Larry Gelbart

In the scene after this, they’re all in the judges chamber, and they find that none of the transcription of God’s words exist. All recordings are gone. The point is that it now comes down to the people who were in the courtroom are now the only witness to what happened, that to accept that God came and talked is now a matter of faith. It was a brilliant final point.

You might want to give the right year (it was 1977), but nothing takes away from George's performance. A lot of the message of that movie still has import on our modern day.

This was a superbly cast comedy that brought to light the message of kindness and humility. It suggested we shouldn't be so jaded with our foibles and fears and realize life can be amazing if we want it to be... and this coming from an atheist. :)

Why was Terri Garr so good at playing characters who were married to men that were perceived as crazy? She played a very similar character in close encounters of the third kind. Lol

Lucifer always gets a bad rap. He gave mankind it's greatest gift, free will. It it weren't for Lucifer, none of us would be here. Adam and Eve would still be putzing around the garden, childless, sucking up to the big guy.
