Paul Sorvino is such a great actor. To see him play this over the top preacher and stone cold Paulie in Goodfellas shows just how good he is. "Whom we have broke bread many times." Love his delivery. R.I.P.
I mean, yes and no. But mostly yes. God created everything, including the byproducts we made from God's creation, still making it God's creation. Every atom, every molecule, every visible or invisible thing we witness in the action of existence is God. We are God. Your cat Mr. Noodles is God. 21 Guns by Greenday is God. Existence, physical or otherwise is God, is creation itself. Jesus is a fine example of a spiritual person, one many Christians seemingly love, but have no interest in emulating much at all. Despite it all. Even that, hypocrisy, lying---that's God too. But, as stated earlier in the film, Jesus was the son of God, along with everyone else. We are, man, woman, fish, rock, broken glass window, with God and as God, always. There is nothing that isn't spiritual. There is nothing to believe, nothing to study, to exist in peace with everything that's around you is all that's required of you.
Paul Sorvino knocked this scene out of the park! I must say that a couple of times, I saw facial expressions that reminded me of Jethro Bodine in the Beverly Hillbillies.
Carl reiner did a fabulous job directing this timeless classic and more amazing he was able to do it without any contraversey or claims of blasphemy against the subject matter of God. Excellent job launching the Oh god series!!!
This scene reminds me of a meeting between the Scribes and Pharisees who scolded a young man because he was "born in sin" and had no authority to teach THEM. (John 9:34)
HAHAHAHA!!!! Everytime I see Paul Sorvino anywhere, because of this movie, I laugh my head off everytime. In most of his films he is so soft spoken and introverted. Here, this is the most outgoing role he has ever done.
"It would be blasphemy to suggest that we could describe the creator in human terms." I can think of one example when the creator was depicted in human terms.
"You Want Me To have GOD To Take A Quiz?" Priceless!!! Great Acting & Character Choices for The preachers... & If GOD Would Show up here In Now Times, he Would be Interogated by the govt & Even if Jesus Christ Came back Same things & Humans would Roast Him More Than 2 Millenium Ago. & Why Would They either Come here, Humanity is Lost Air-heads already 1 Foot In Hell UN-Spiritually!!! Yes BOTH Metaphorically & Metaphysically(That's What The Soul is).
Wouldn't it make more sense at least once in recorded history, that God, if there is one, would actually show himself to humanity? I mean, why hasn't he? This movie just points that puzzle out.
The Great and Almighty YHWH came to us in the Image of mans corruptible flesh and reveled His true NAME that is above all Names. The Lord Christ Jesus.
The Arrogance of Man, the Evangelist (Sorvino) spent a lifetime working with his church and studying the Bible and he was very successful and respected, all the men at that table were senior and highly respected members of their orders, the idea that God would physically appear to a grocery store assistant manager and not to one of them is something he can't accept. It's like The President of the United States bypassing the Governor to meet the guy who cleans the toilets.
Oh God! was released in 1977. The Movieclips channel mislabeled it as 1997. Two more sequels were released in the 80s though not nearly as good as the first one.
Paul Sorvino was such a gifted actor. He could portray so many roles. May he RIP.
❤️

Paul Soriano killed this role. He was so funny. And he was EXACTLY how southern preachers behaved. Nice to see some familiar faces in this scene.
My father was a Mississippi pastor who traveled with Jimmy Swaggart...he didn't act like that lol
He reminded me of Oral Roberts I couldn't maintain myself I was laughing so hard I peed my friken pants!!
I remember watching this movie as a kid. Today I realized Paul Sorvino is in it.
“If He created us, why wouldn’t He appear to us as one of us.” He did. His name is Jesus.
Amen. Praise God. And a relationship. Its personal. Just believe. +
YESHUA.
No, Jesus was something that the Romans made up.

@@lepapercastleGod is separate from the creation. Creation is not part of God.
I think the other actors were holding back laughing when that preacher got up and made that Super Bowl comment
Paul Sorvino knocked this scene out of the park! I must say that a couple of times, I saw facial expressions that reminded me of Jethro Bodine in the Beverly Hillbillies.
I would love to see the gag real during the filming of this movie Oh God.
.especially with George Burns !!! Ha
.
Donald Pleasence literally had those lines only in this movie and was 4th billed in the movie
His role was drastically cut for some reason
Paul Sorvino is actually imitating Rev Jerry Falwell.
A 12 year-old boy lectured the church leaders once
Carl reiner did a fabulous job directing this timeless classic and more amazing he was able to do it without any contraversey or claims of blasphemy against the subject matter of God. Excellent job launching the Oh god series!!!
I was thinking the same thing you couldn't make this movie today there'd be too much animosity hatred venomous doo dah.. lolo
20 something idiots would have been running for their safe zone!! Ha Ha Ha...
I always loved this Sorvino performance, RIP good sir. (Also, this is 1977, not 1997)
Yes, he didn't have a real big part in the movie but he was a laugher which shows the range of his acting ability may he R.I.P.

Llllmmmmffaaoo...me 2!!
My dad and I have been laughing at Paul Sorvino as "Reverend Big Mouth" for over 40 years.
Isn't Paul Sorvino the best?? I mean that accent was killing me the 1st time I ever saw that movie.
Llmmffaaoo
1997 was 25 yrs ago?
@@stoveguy2133 1997 is a mistake,the movie was made in 1977
"It would be blasphemy to suggest that we could describe the creator in human terms."

R.i.p Paul Sorvino, Donald Pleasence and John Denver.

Well I certainly wasn't expecting that accent from Paul Sorvino...
God, don't put too many onions in the sauce.
That's why they call it acting!
HE,S A GOOD ACTOR !....////
Oh MAN!!!! Been so long since I’ve seen this movie!
Which puts the score at God-7, you zip!
Oh shit! The other guy next to Paulie is Loomis from Halloween!!😂😂
Uptown NYC omg. Yes.
Donald Pleasance, everyone.
@@PhilMante He has his dark art in everyone's pumpkin pie
Took me a second to see that too!
Who’s here in 2022? Classic. RIP Paul Sorvino!
Wow....I didn’t realize the star power in that group of theologians around the table!
"A set of questions, for you to ask...(long pause)...God" Cracks me up every time.
i adore this film 👀❣️🙏💜✝️💞🤗
Funny seeing Donald Pleasence play a Catholic priest since he'd play one in Prince of Darkness 10 years later
At least Donald did not stand up and refuse raucously to partake in "this LIQUID FILTH!" :)
Willie talking up the others like I think they'd prefer he didn't.
this guy reminds me of that preacher in houston with the big stadium.
Paul Sorvino played the funniest damn preacher I ever saw in on film
Sorvino was brilliant.
Yes he was "God 7 you zip"ha ha ha,May he rest in peace but he still lives in all the movies he's made
Love it. Howevere, it was 1977, not 1997
They make these mistakes on purpose to increase comments.
God, the actors in that scene.
Paul Sorvino has seen GOD for real.
RIP
I remember this movie. I saw this on DVD.
I saw it in the theater when it came out
Duh. Jesus appeared as one of us. We were made in His image for cryin' out loud! Where's George Burns when ya need 'em...hehehe. Thanks for sharing!
Wouldn't it make more sense at least once in recorded history, that God, if there is one, would actually show himself to humanity? I mean, why hasn't he? This movie just points that puzzle out.
what makes you think God hasn't ?
Thats Paulie from Goodfellas!! LMAOO
Paul Sorvino, he's been in quite a few films
The Great and Almighty YHWH came to us in the Image of mans corruptible flesh and reveled His true NAME that is above all Names. The Lord Christ Jesus.
YESHUA,not jesus.
Sorvino's character's scripted hatred of Jerry Landers never made sense! What did Jerry early on do to him?
The Arrogance of Man, the Evangelist (Sorvino) spent a lifetime working with his church and studying the Bible and he was very successful and respected, all the men at that table were senior and highly respected members of their orders, the idea that God would physically appear to a grocery store assistant manager and not to one of them is something he can't accept. This is one of Paul Sorvino's best performances. Totally cast against type and he just kills it!
The video description says the year of 1997 while it's actually 1977
I crack up at the part where John Denver tells him god is unhappy and he has him removed then tells the crowd “this poor boy is ill!” Lmfao 🤣
Sorvino brilliant, but no one knows it..go all the way back to 'It Couldn't Happen to a Nicer Guy' 70s movie of the week..
They had Donald Pleseance..they had him and they just had him sit there...
That one line he delivers is actually pretty funny I think. "For you to ask... (long pause) ...GOD!"
The movie is from 1977 not 1997. You've had this clip posted for 5 years without fixing that error.
Can't remember ...did they show the answers in the movie?
I wasn't aware this came out in 1997. I'm pretty sure Bob Denver was deceased at the time...
OH GOD!
Oh God came out around 1980
Oh God! was released in 1977. The Movieclips channel mislabeled it as 1997. Two more sequels were released in the 80s though not nearly as good as the first one.
Oh God came out in 1977 and Bob Denver ran aground on the S.S. Minnow before that time.
Where's this guys oscar?
That is the doctor from Halloween.
He had a few lines to say even though he was given fourth billing.
That Donald Pleasance???
The one and only
If I didn't know better, I's swear that Jethro Bodine became a fast buck, prosperity pimping televangelist.
1997??? 1977!!!!
I have heard from God.
....lost my re-lie-00psreligion
alguien tiene esta peli me dice que es muy buena pero en español
Greggheads, anyone?
This Willie Williams character strikes me as almost effeminate. Definitely a poser.
Oh, and FIRST and SECOND!
