About Garlic: Garlic (_Allium sativum_) differs from onion in that its bulb is composed of about 6-12 cloves arranged inside a papery bulb cover. Garlic grows best in full sun in well-drained, fertile, loamy soils with a soil pH between 6.2 and 6.5. Bulbs will be small if the soil is excessively dry, and irregular in shape if the soil becomes compacted, making compost really important. Garlic must be planted in the Fall to permit full development. Plant early enough in the season because vegetative growth ceases when the bulb develops in response to longer days and warmer temperatures in the Spring.

That's a nice harvest for a small bed. The hard neck garlic needs a chill season. When planting in the south, most people store it in the fridge for a 6 weeks or so before planting. This will keep the cloves from separating. They should look just like the soft neck.

Nice harvest Ryan, and yes my grandpa thought me to braid them....onions as well. It's easy and looks cool it's like braiding hair😂. After drying them outside, we hang them in the basement....cool and dark. Us dagos like the little cloves, just enough heat but yet sweet like taste.
The ones with flower they say are males and really strong flavor , trash😊
