  • Watch as we take down two enormous invasive Bradford pear trees in this satisfying tree removal video! Admittedly, when I planted these stinky trees years ago, I didn't realize that they're invasive to our native habitat. Bradford Pears can quickly crowd out native plants, interrupt the feeding habits of insects and birds around them. In fact, it's now illegal to sell them, and it's best to remove them as soon as possible.
These two trees are well established, so we'll need some extra hands, as well as a telescopic forklift. I'll show you the process of cutting down these massive trees step-by-step!

Durham, NC has a bounty on those nasty trees. This past weekend I planted two Ligustrum. Boy did I catch hell from a lady down the street. After she ranted about invasives, I thank her and showed her the road.

Nicely done as usual... quick note, I'd clear the area around your A/C unit, that rose might be a bit close and blocking full air flow... Tip from your uncle Bob 😊

Have you thought about having a community day at the greenhouse. Give out prizes, then have a raffle for everyone that buys gets a chance at an exotic plant.
    Make it kids friendly too.

I know a guy that has 1 or 2 Japanese Maples😂 to replace the pears, maybe some "Bloodgood" to give the landscape some color.
Bradford's pears even though they are a beautiful tree when in bloom, they smell terrible, the fruit makes a mess the leaves don't come off till couple good frost (Ohio) because of that if it snows or ice the branches will split.I have 3 extra large ones (about 18" to 20" caliber) that got damaged by ice storm few yrs back, I trimmed them back ( like a bonsai ), my wife thought I was crazy ....2 yrs later they filled in nicely, so now they're more of a globe then a pyramid shape. BTW the bees don't like them either, very little pollen. You got a beautiful property 👍👍✌️

Where that second tree was, i think, would be a great place for that huge collection of Japanese Maples you have at the nursery.

You could make one of those beds a showcase for your Japanese maples.

Instead of digging the stumps I would just plant around it, maybe use the stump as a stand for a planter.

Great idea, especially since I dont wanna go through the trouble of digging them up!
