Sifan Hassan has made history. She got a medal in the 5k, 10k and the marathon. Nobody has ever done this before in the history of the olympics.......... ........well nobody since 1952 in Helsinki Emil Zatopek, the Czech lokomotive did in in style with the marathon being his first ever. and all medals were golden I fully understand, that some comments get under your skin. Keep your joy of running, at the end of the day, like you said, nobody really cares about the way you run keep the fire burning and run as you please
These early morning monologues are too funny. I had this blasting on my TV, and my wife was asking WTH I was listening to. 😂 Appreciate the dedication to the process.
Yeah dude I love this shoe. Grossly underrated. The weight honestly isn’t an issue at least for me. Bouncy, fun, and relatively durable. Been using it as a long run trainer mostly.
People make out it’s like running in concrete blocks. Like 99% of us running in them can tell the difference between 1 or 2 ounces when trying not to die racing a HM 🤣
@@richardharvey4216 Agreed. I'm relatively quick (not elite) at a 1:30ish HM. I've ran in a few super shoes. I love this shoe for all types of runs, which I think makes it unique on the market. I don't feel like I can run great at slower tempos in some super shoes as the Cielo X1. They could easily drop a few ounces from this version tho, however it's not noticeable under foot. Unless you are running at ELITE paces, very few people will notice any difference.
This is my shoe of the year! Truly unique in it's ability to handle every pace with ease. The weight is a non-isse given the plate configuration, foam, and rocker. I'm excited to see what Hoka it does for the second iteration of this shoe. If they can keep everything the same in regards to home and geometry, and find a way to shed some weight, this will be the best when you ever created.
Glad to see the Cielo X1 getting some more time in the spotlight! If America had a Department of Mileage Enjoyment, these would get the stamp of approval
Love the Cielo X1. I'm selling my Vaporfly 3's because of these. Suit my running better. Love your content. I liked how you looked at the golfers longingly...one day, one day.
Spitting for 1,5 hours straight😤 I put these video's on preparing for my morning run, and then watch the second half during breakfast and chores after. Thanks for providing the inspiration!
The Cielo X-1 has been a revelation for me. Sometimes a shoe just hits right. I could see the pop the X1 was providing you as you ran down your driveway. It's perfect for my slow paces and really works for my faster workouts. Just ran a hard fast workout in the X1 and it was fun cause the X1 made it feel easy. For me a supper hobby jogger the weight is no issue at all. Of course lighter would be better. You answered a question I had about the X1 and it pushed me over the edge to make the purchase. Sorry I did not purchase the X1 from Running Warehouse via your link as I had a 20% from a local vendor. Pinching pennies around here. Thanks for your channel.
Man, your timing on this is crazy. I ordered a pair on Saturday while you probably were filming this. They should be showing up Wednesday. Looking forward to putting it some long runs in these.
That's the shoe I intended to use for a marathon, but I overthought the whole thing and went with the alphafly V3..it was a complete disaster and my feet still hate me..That's why go with your instincts and not what the stats say..the nutrition and hydration are something I've never worked out..I learned, the hard way, to stay away from anything other than plain water while racing..I do need to find something for nutrition for racing anything more than 18-20mi..I can say that any race that I bombed started with the wrong shoe and went downhill from there..seems like I usually have a blow up once a year and its just part of racing 30+ races a year..the Cielo x1 has the best rocker and smoothest roll through for me..another good video for those of us that can focus for more than 5min at a time..🎉🎉
Sorry to hear about the bad race. On the nutrition front, have you tried Maurten? For me it's the easiest to get down consistently and doesn't feel heavy at all in my stomach
I had the same experience as you! Took in all the hype, thought too much about the weight issue and went with the Alphafly V3 for my marathon last weekend. It didn’t feel great at the latter stages of the race and really didn’t get on with my feet at all! Will definitely be running in the Cielo X1 for my next marathon in 3 weeks!
Great review! I absolutely love this shoe. Can't wait for V2. The new white color comes with different laces since so my people had an issue with them. Weight: It only matters to the specific runner. If the runner is 6ft 5inches in great condition, and runs in a size 9, and a 5ft 9inch guy runs in a size 9...then the weight wouldn't feel, or react the same. So this general weight penalty for shoes is silly. It's about body composition, and training more than weight. It's time to toss the "it's a heavy shoe" critique in MOST cases.
The first and only race shoe I own. I was worried at first because the feeling was so new to me, but I've got 50 miles in it and I love them now. The bounce is unbelievable and it feels great at my pace which is I'm the 10-11 min/mile pace. Hoping to get a few races in it before winter with the Philly Half Marathon being the big one for me🤞🏾
For the love of god..your buttering game.. never again please, never mind your toast game(it's not great)(no hate, just best version of yourself :-)). Did just purchase this shoe based a little on your great review, so thanks. Love the channel, you fast bro, gonna peak for chicago!
This got me to finally pull the trigger as well. I tried this shoe on a treadmill at the expo for my April marathon and it’s been on my mind since then but my race shoes are still in good shape. Finally got over the edge on the rationale that I can also use it in long runs and tempo training sometimes!
Love the Cielo X1! Such a fun shoe to run in! But as a mid-to forefoot striker who tends to overpronate as fatigue kicks in, the foam along the base of the top interior side (both shoes) has frayed noticeably. Have the same issue with the Skyward X foam, which is unfortunate given the price of these shoes. Also word of the week: Perspective is key! Helped reorient my thoughts at a trying time. Thank you! 🏃🏼♀️🙏
Have it love it for long slow weekend runs when I don't care about the place. Legs fresh always after running in them. Only Hoka that fits my wide feet. Even Mach 6 wide is not really wide for me.
Would love to see an updated run in the Hyperion elite 4. The only con with that shoe, and it’s a big one, is the tongue being so thin that it’s almost impossible to avoid lace bite. Other than that, I think it’s a phenomenal firm racer.
Yowana! My Cielo X1 just showed up today. I know you have been wanting to test the Prime X Strung 2, so figured Id compare these two. The midsole between the two feels VERY similar. The bounce and cushion is darn near the same. The Prime X2 is just more.... its more stack front and rear, more weight. I like the upper much better on the Ceilo. The Prime X2 you kind of have to crank the laces to feel secure, and then the laces can bite. The x2 feels bottom heavy due to this. I need to do a long run in the Cielo to compare, but initial impression is its more stable, same feel, better rocker. My first thought putting these on was the Ceilo is what the Prime X2 Strung could have been but missed a little. I plan to do a double tomorrow, maybe i will rotate te two pairs.
@@supwell the Prime X2 certainly feels a little more propulsive, but the rocker on the Cielo is really nice! Out of the 2, I prefer the Cielo, but it's the honeymoon phase. Upper I give to the Cielo by far. These two shoes certainly go head to head! I feel more stable in the Cielo, especially around the corners.
Fantastic review, as always!! Just purchased a pair and as s a heel striker myself, I was wondering how many miles you are at now, and how are the heels holding up?
About 70 miles and there is some wear on the foam but mostly cosmetic. Someone else commented their pair is getting chewed up at 150 miles, but I also had a pair of Mach 5s with the exposed foam like this that lasted 300 miles
Hi , does the upper loosen or break in a bit? I find mine to be the correct length but a bit snug on the sides , done 2 runs so far , a 5k and 16k Btw i am a us9 in the supernova prima and us9.5 in the cielo x1 Thanks more power
Id like to see a review of Adizero Prime X Strung 2 if you are asking for a shoe that you haven't reviewed...Brussels is in Belgium and Capital of EU...
Hey Yowana, great video as always. Keep up the great work bro. Quick question. Could you recommend a running shoe that has a bit wider toe box (for a Neuroma) and would also have a little higher drop to help with Achilles Tendonitis? Looking for a daily trainer and a speed trainer recommendation, or maybe an option that is flexible enough to be used either way. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
LMAO I also ran my first 1/2 marathon in that same Epic React FK in 2018. Foot warriors built different on this side! My legs were absolutely cooked after the 1/2 marathon for days but it’s the mental strength we built not the foot strength going 1.5+ hours in the epic react FK
Hey what daily trainer would you recommend for a bit of a wider foot and something comfy, I’m not interested in the nova blast 4 since you said it has bad traction, but I’ve narrowed it down to the invincible 3, 1080 v13s, nimbus 26s, and the 860 v14s, thank you so much if you read this so please recommend me a shoe if none of the list are really good please recommend another one
I'd recommend the 860! Nimbus is great but it's not the most versatile. 860 has a wide fit and it's great for running any pace. Traction is good and it has a fun, comfortable ride
It's a fellow Carter! We have three of them - they're so good. They keep your drink hot or cold for 24 hours. They're awesome for road trips and hiking
These videos are becoming too long imo, too diluted, I keep forwarding hoping to catch a part of the video with essential commentary on the shoe and not general chat and keep failing. I just don't have 1:30 hour free just for one video on a particular shoe. So many interesting topics on this planet! I get it though, some people here maybe like these videos as some kind of reality show on shoes rather that shoe reviews. Each to their own. I just sample your videos for 5-10 minutes hoping to catch the actual information and if not, too bad!

They changed the laces for the newer colorways of this shoe. New laces are more textured-style laces like in the Hyperion Max 2.
