#maxcushgang over here dropping bars. "I made it more than a habit. I made it a requirement" hardest shxt I've heard in a while! I'll be taking this quote from you and shouting it all over my city while getting my miles in 💪 😤
I've been running with AF1, AF2, and now AF3. Spent a whole year with AF1+2 using it for nearly every run. The AFs (all gen) are the fastest of all running sneakers I've ever used, period. The key thing that I think Yowana is underappreciating, is that it really does 'save your legs' by reducing impact. You won't know it at first, but trust me, once you run in only AFs and switch back to any other non-supershoe, you'll feel like the shoes are broken as they kill your legs so much faster compared to any AF. I will note that I do think you get better leg endurance training by using nonsupershoes and then saving AF for race and fast days, having tried going all-AF for awhile, so I've gone back to using a nonplated shoe for training and the AF3 for racing, with great results for myself. The AF shoes are really special, you might not realize it in one or even two runs, but they are that much different than normal shoes, given their amazing bounce and shock absorption without losing speed.
Ran my first half Marathon in AF3’s - felt so good day after!! However after 120km they start to rub on my ankel ball, maybe because i sink more into them when they have gotten softer?
Good to know, thanks for the review on your AF's. I was debating on using them for NYC this year. I haven't even tried them on. Should I just run a few miles or more mileage in them before race day to make sure that I'm going to like them?
My new favorite channel. Very inspirational. Very encouraging. Rough last few years of marriage before divorce, relocation and depression I allowed to get in my way which in turn caused my weight to go from 203lbs to 288lbs(I'm 6'3") Just bought a pair of NB Rebel V4's to restart my journey. I have a goal. I just need to start. Thank you!!💯💪🏾🙏🏾👑🏃🏾♂️
On the topic of double runs, had my first ever double run day yesterday and have to thank you for inspiring me to take that leap. I've been slowly improving mileage, and something that was inconceivable a few months a go felt like the natural next step, and I'm so glad I did! Thanks for the motivation!! The second run surprised me in the best of ways. Intuitively, I expected to feel tired and sluggish after a long morning run, but having fueled sufficiently thereafter, the evening run had me putting down some irresponsibly fast pace! My morning runs are almost always completely fasted so def eye opening for me! While I may not do another evening run any time soon (wayy too many people and traffic, prefer the calm and quiet mornings), it's great for tacking on more miles in a sustainable way. 👍
The donut mile run challenge video from running warehouse just dropped. I was impressed by the third place finish from Captain Banger here……coming from behind …… stomach full of vegan donuts……putting in the work……What happened to the podium photo opp?
I think its finally time for you to do a alphafly vs ceilo x1. One on each foot i imagine would be an interesting experience. Both super tech shoes that from what i can tell work completely different in the running mechanics.
You’ve flip flopped on this shoe more than any other shoe 😂. Glad youre coming around to it. Ran a 2:40 in it, think it’s the best shoe on the market for race day. Couldn’t get on with the meta speed Paris shoes personally.
Yeah ever since the 22 mile long run progression I did in it I've really enjoyed it. And agreed - the Metaspeed shoes are just no fun for me. Narrow and uninspiring
The 1 race I bombed this season was in the alphafly V3..the other choice was the Diadora cara carbon..they are completely different, but I went with the faster shoe..by the turn,13.1 mi, my feet were dying..I didn't run the whole distance in training runs in the V3 and discovered it's not a marathon shoe for me..for me it's a 5k-10k racing shoe..the Diadora cara carbon is a much better marathon shoe..the NB elite V3 is another great LONG distance racer..great show as always..🎉🎉
yeah these are so much more aggressive than the gara. after this workout and the 22 miler i did in them a few months ago i'm getting more confident that i could go the distance in them... but i need one more quality long run to be sure. also i should really get some more miles in the gara soon
The Nike Tempo next% with the nylon plate and front air pod was the training partner for the AF, but for some reason they've discontinued it. I still use mine, with 500 miles on it. The outsole is in bad shape, but it still pings me along
No this isn't a great walking shoe due to all of the running specific technology - it makes it feel unnatural and a little clunky/wobbly for anything other than fast running. I would suggest the saucony hurricane 24 - it's supportive and cushioned while giving some nice boucne. If you want something from Nike for walking, I'd suggest either the Vomero 17 or Invincible 3 - both are cushioned and comfortable but the invincible 3 is softer and bouncier while the Vomero 17 has more ground feel
I have a pair of AF1s that I’ve been saving for my next marathon. I’ve only used Vaporfly 1s and 2s for races. How many runs would you recommend testing the alphaflys pre race?
I wonder what the gains equate to vs another super shoe like the Endorphin Pro 4 or Metaspeed. I’ve run in the Alpha 3s and I much prefer the Pro 4 for the type of runner I am. I feel like you gotta be running at least 8 min/mile pace to get something out of the Alphas.
100% agree - running slower than a 7:30/8 minute pace for me in the alphafly feels weird because the bounciness/midsole set up really encourages a fast turnover. the metaspeeds are narrow and a bit unstable/uncomfortable for me, but they also come alive way more at faster paces. pro 4 and sc elite v4 are best i've tried for 8 minute paces. it's also relative to what everyone's individual race pace is. but unless i'm confident that i can run hard for the entire 26 of the marathon, i'd go for one of the more comfortable shoes over the metaspeed and alphafly
What is the durability like on these? How many miles before they fall apart? Ive got the vapourflies3 and absolutely love them! Ive bought the Asics sky paris in stead of these but kinda thinking about still picking these up. 🤔
I have 100 miles on my pair and they're still going strong. I honestly think I can get my typical 300 miles out of these - so far they've been much more durable than the Vaporfly
I am running a 50K on a crushed gravel rail to trail course with no technical terrain. It has only one hilly section. I wonder if these would hold up, or if it's a terrible idea?
I've actually taken these on a gravel trail and they held up pretty well. The only concern is getting rocks stuck in the bottom opening 😂 it's got a big old rockcatcher 5000. But it's great on hills
@@supwell Grateful for your response. I love your videos, especially this one. Your words of wisdom were delivered in a humorous way, but we all need that bit of savage! Too many people have become comfortable in today's society.
You mentioned at the end what you think Nike needs to do to make a perfect marathon training shoe. What do you think is the shoe that comes closest currently? @yowana
The Boston 12 was my favorite for a long time - bouncy and fast but durable and enough cushion for longer runs. I haven't been that impressed by the 2024 releases and have been shifting toward doing most of my workouts in the race shoes. The racers are getting so comfortable and durable I don't have a place for most of the plated trainers since they feel a bit like slower/worse versions of the race shoes - skyward X though gives a lot more comfort, protection m and fun than the race shoes so that would be my top pick. It's almost in a category of its own though. I have more miles on that than any other plated trainer this year
Hey man, great video! Im using hansons marathod method for my next marathon this feb. Was just wondering if you would recommend a different program? Btw, what camera are you using?
Great question - if you're already going to carve the time out for that second session it's best to do running, but if you're injury prone/want to be cautious about increasing mileage too quickly the elliptical or anything else that gives aerobic stimulus is good as well. Running more gives the best returns but anything that gets the heart rate up will give some benefit too - especially if it's keeping you injury free
Always mildly curious to try the Nike super shoes. But I don't care for Nike as a company....hate to give them any of my $$. Plus their fit always seems to be way too narrow for my. I hear the arch is intrusive on some of the AF shoes. I definitely wouldn't like the feel of that.
The fit of this is actually really good - I have a slightly wide left foot and it's perfect for me. The upper is great and the comfort overall is decent ... 100 miles in and I'm impressed. I can't help with the dislike for Nike as a brand though 😂
I ran loads in Alphafly 1. I has Alphafly 2 but didnt like it as found it clunky. I skipped Alphafly 3 so far as in my last marathon i got stuck running next to someone who was wearing Alphafly 3 and one of the air pods had the loudest and most annoying squeak. I vowed never to wear them after that as it annoyed me so much (i donr wear headphones).
running every day....check running a 2 hour run once a week.....check running hard for at least 30 minutes every week.....check ( unless in deep winter) .......lost ( meaning i am slower now)10 minutes in the 5k, 20 minutes in the 10k....and a wopping 2 hours in the marathon .....so what ....i love what i do and i am a happy lifelong runner p.s. don`t own a Alphafly, but my Vaporfly V1 gives me 15 seconds per kilometer in a 5k time trial
Yooooowana - you influenced me to return to my ancestors who hunted prey with no shoes. So i run more now in non- plated shoes. Now you are a running shoes mogul and sponsored influencer. And now its all carbon; carbon Suppy! what happened to that fundamentalist streak that overcame you! should i bin the findamentalism and bounce my way to sub 3 and half hours
Hahaha I still enjoy running in non plated lightweight shoes. Some of my favorites this year - new balance rebel v4, adizero SL2, Brooks Hyperion 2. For high mileage workouts and pushing the limits I definitely prefer higher stack more protective carbon shoes. Also sponsored by who? They must be sending the check to the wrong place 😂
@@supwell all in jest - i should have said "soon to be sponsored" - less talented reviewers are! keep up the good work i am in awe of your work ethic both on the road and screen!

i feel this, I'm not a fast runner but my legs are fresh after using af3.
ha i did this, now I can't use regular shoes anymore. my legs are trashed after 5km in normal shoes
I feel the same way about the Novablast...

You're right, Nike's lineup lacks exactly these 3 types of shoes. Maybe the launch of the Zoom Fly 6 and Pegasus Plus will change something?

I think because it's designed for records at the top of the running shoe branch, it excels more, the most whatever when you hit 6min/mile or faster

Hansons is great - I highly recommend it for marathon and half marathon. Camera is a canon rebel
I respect the commitment. You can teach a skill but I don't think you can teach work ethic.
What’s your take on doing doubles on elliptical instead of doing a double run, to increase the mileage?
