I purposely rejected a whole neighborhood while house hunting because we happened to drive through it during the morning drop off at the nearby school. All the moms were walking their kids to school which would have been a dream come true for me... except that it was like watching a beauty pageant!!! It was clear the moms were either competing or at least trying to keep up with each other. Expensive strollers, full makeup, super nice clothes, everyone skinny. That's alright I suppose if that's your vibe but it isn't mine! I told my husband I was no longer interested in that house or any of the houses in that neighborhood and we found a nice house a few miles away where there is a good mix of people, much less comparing and competing. Know thyself! The world is so diverse, find a place in it where you'll be happiest!
I’ve taken several grandkids to school and back from pre-school until they have drivers licenses. I have a 9 year old now (last grandchild) I take and pick up. At 76, I wear short hair, no make up and jeans for a reason. I know the perfect moms and the barely awake ones. Our goal is all the same. That the kids have a good day and we get them home safely ❤
I was so lucky from the time my daughter, only child, started kinder we lived next door to my sister, her auntie. I fed her breakfast, helped her get dressed, then she went next door to have her waist length hair brushed by her auntie, cuz according to my daughter she did it better. Then she walked to the bus stop, around the corner, with her two older cousins. There's no need to get dressed. We lived next door for almost 11 years. Then my sister (RIP) and I would have a leisurely cup of coffee and chit-chat... happy times🌹
I found you 9-10 years ago and still use many of these tricks to this day. I feel like we are living parallel lives, I’ve also had Bariatric surgery and received my adhd diagnosis. Your channel has been a blessing to me for years, thank you for sharing your beautiful mind with us.
I need this. I'm a neurodivergent mom with an awesome, neordivergent son and a lovely daughter ..ages 8 and 10. I wish I could spend the day with you..,an hour,...I'm so lost at times. You are a blessing. Thank you for all of your videos. Back to school tomorrow. Sending prayers up for parents out there, may our children thrive this year.
Retired teacher here….enjoying September much more these days! A group of us get together for a retired teachers lung on the first day of school each year! My Mum used to put her coat on over her nightie to take us to school when we were kids!
I have to get myself "presentable" before going into public. Over the years my standard for "presentable" has become less. I now utilize hats, sunglasses, and dry shampoo as shortcuts lol
A cute coat, sunglasses, and a touch of lipstick should be all you need to go out the door looking great. No one needs to know you're still in your pj top under that outerwear!
I won't go out au naturel either. I don't wear hats or sunglasses, & I have to style my hair at least to a minimum, but I AM making progress! I do minimal makeup, and as I get older, fewer errands are deemed "mascara worthy". Baby steps. I just dread having to go to a retirement residence & be presentable every day for 8 a.m. breakfast!! No different from going to work!🙄
Hello from Sweden!🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 Here In Sweden, children does not need to bring their own school lunches... HeevWe have had free school lunches for every child, paid by the municipality etc... And that since at least 1930 or in some areas long before 1901... And they are really good nutritious hot meals prepared every day in the school kitchens by educated people. So no Mom or child need to worry about that... And Today childen that need before school/after school time at school, they also get free breakfast and after school snack.... Nobaody needs to get hungry during school week here in Sweden! 👍🏻💖🤗🇸🇪
Oh my goodness!! Izzy is going to college?? Where did the time go? ❤ I'm not a morning person either, so I skipped having actual pajamas to wearing joggers and a tshirt. Something comfortable but ok to wear modestly in public. When they were going to school, outfits were always assembled with their packed book bags and shoes to be ready to get out the door. Now grown, a couple of them still have everything ready to put on and get out the door in the morning. Cass, you're always a pleasure to see. Thank you! 🥰
Cas, I just watched your '20 Life Lessons' video and wanted to check in about your skin cancer update. Please make sure you get this treated-your children need you more than anything. A small scar is a small price to pay for having their mum around. Wishing you all the best!
Honestly as long as your kids are clean and smiling and prepared for school it doesn’t matter what you look like! You did it! And you should be proud of yourself!
Hi Cas, thank you for the tips... In our country (Czech Republic), fortunately, children don't go to school until the first Monday in September (this year it's on 2.9.) - so we still have time to enjoy a beautiful and warm summer and not stress about problems at school 😁... As for our preparation for school, I'm definitely not an "early bird", but given that school starts at 8 a.m., I have to adapt. In the morning, I throw something on quickly (it's not pyjamas🤣), do my hair quickly, and if I'm lucky (and have time), I even manage to put on some make-up. Then I "run" to school with the youngest son (each of them goes to a different school, but the older one already goes alone). When he finish school and it's after lunch (usually at 1 p.m., depending on what day it is - sometimes longer) - there is an option to have a paid hot lunch at school (our children usually have a snack after the 2nd lesson or after the 3rd), I'm going home again with my youngest son... I'm enjoying the summer peace all the more now, when I'm not "running" anywhere and I don't have to get up at 6 a.m. So happy back to school!!!😎 S.
Im a single mom with two boys, what works for me is an ikea cube shelf unit with bins. One bin for shirts one bin for bottoms. In the summer is t shirts in one bin and shorts in the other. In the winter long sleeve shirts and reg pants. Hoodies r hung on the back of the door on hooks. So easy. Also i have an undies bin and a socks bin with socks paired! So easy all the shirts go with any pants thry pull out because i stick to nuetral bottoms. Ill even buy multiples, so like multiple black cotton pants, for example. Hope that helps
I love the little apples!! I don’t have kids, but if I did, they’d be famous for their handcrafted gifts, birthday cakes, and never getting new shoes until they told their preoccupied mother their feet hurt. I’ve never wanted the kids, but I find ways to enjoy the crafts sometimes. I’m currently making six backup Book Week costumes for friends who’ve had their first (and only) baby at ages 40 and 50, to be gifted when the much-cherished little one starts school. I’ll be throwing in an apple-making kit for Little One and I to make for his first teacher. Thank you to your kids for showing me how it’s done!
Just what I needed - a Cass video! :) Though I am not a mom, and don't have kids going back to school, I'm sure this video will be awesome as they always are.
As an ADHD butterfly teacher, I really love this video. I tend to prefer organization systems that are designed for kids, so elementary classroom-style setups and the perch system on the wall are perfect to help me survive the hectic school year.
Your kids are so adorable. They did a great job. Now, are they still creative and use their moms humor? This vidreally made me go back to when my kiddos were little. What a joy.
really enjoyed this video! thanks Cas! we homeschooled our children, I imagine it would have been more hectic to have to get the kids to and from school...good ideas for the lunches and organization, anyone can use those hints.
This was a great blog. I loved the children making the teacher gifts. So sweet! Im a retired teacher but I would have loved getting the apple as a gift.
I think your soap video was the first I ever saw from you, and I was hooked. I was looking for a craft to do with my son, AND this got him to wash his hands! In fact, he washed them so much he burned through the soap in no time just to get the toy, but ah well! For the next few years, I gave out soap with toy embeds as Valentine's Day and Easter presents, and everyone loved them!
We just got into our new home and am excited to finally put up a starter command center. I've realized over the years, that although I may understand certain things just fine, that my kids and husband process things differently. And I don't want to repeat myself over and over again, so I'm going to point to the signs on the wall when there are questions. Also I'm definitely that hot mess mom that was always one of the last cars to drop off her kids to school. With this being a whole new school this year, I'm excited that all my kids are bus riders now, and the bus stop is close enough that I can just stand in my driveway with my sweats on, and wave my children off to school.
I'm homeschooling my grandson this year but when I took him and my (now grown) kids to school, I was a hot mess 😂. I'm a night owl. One day I accidentally said Goodnight instead of goodbye when I dropped them off LOL, I apparently wasn't awake enough.
Your babies were so cute! I never saw that video before, that was a cute craft! I am totally a hot mess in the morning- no makeup, hair is not done, casual clothes- BUT so are the other moms, so I don’t feel as bad! 😂
Parenthood os a journey I never thought I would embark on but am now planning for. Going to make sure I start right by doing so many of these tips from the beginning!
Love the tips, especially the lunch hacks. I have a picky eater or two and needed some new ideas. I'm a mess for drop-off, but don't have to get out of the car. I dread it though, because the parking lot was not well designed and there is always a jam to get in and out of the ONE entrance/exit.
awe. I love the Candy apple jar idea (and video). I don't have kids. (except for my cat). but I still watched this video, because some of the ideas can be 'adapted" or used in other ways. 😃👍🏼
Oh Wow! I haven't seen your earlier vids yet. You are now an inspiration not just on decluttering but also a huge hope that one day I will get the weight off.
I love your sandwich-sushi demonstration. That’s how it usually goes when I’m showing my kids how to do something. “We put on a little jelly. That’s too much jelly. Don’t do that.” 😂
Oh no, we are not all looking fabu at drop off. We all are looking like we did our best to get there on time! Some looking like we're going back to home for our morning coffee (sometimes my coffee is on my shirt ;) some looking like they are off to work.... Just a whole mix of people. Cas, your videos always make me smile and feel encouraged/inspired. xoxo
Oh Cass, you aren't alone. We don't live in an uppity neighborhood; but also not the other end. However, it's a small town so everyone knows everyone. I felt horrible the day I did drop off with a towel on my head. I was still in pajamas but the kids were going to have to be signed in if I didn't go then.... So I went and didn't realize the towel was still on my head until I passed a fellow parent that I went to school with at the turn in to school. She just nodded and laughed as I waved. Humiliated, I quickly pulled the towel off and ran fingers thru hair before stopping for kiddos to jump out. It's so fun becoming an adult tho, because perspective changes everything. Still feeling like a teen in my mind and also having to be the responsible "adult". It's very Humbling.
Thank you for the video Cass, The kids are so cute I absolutely love the hashtag not sponsored 😂😂. I love the toy soap. My oldest two used to get a bus to school and then they walked to school once in highschool. My daughter takes the city bus to school and I walk my youngest to school usually in sweat pants, a hoodie or rain gear if it's raining because we walk to school! I'm glad we don't get a lot of snow here on Vancouver Island!
This makes my heart so happy!! My littles are starting school for the first time in just a couple weeks. Will definitely be going to walmart for the memory organizer and making those stinkin cute soaps! What a great idea for gifting to friends with littles too! Thank you so much❤️
LOVE the binder idea!! There was a teacher who did this for the whole class last year. I used the idea from previous years and LOVED doing that. So easy k stead of an actual scrapbook for each year!!! I just hole punch all the art, papers and pictures 👍🏽🤦🏼♀️
Even tho I don’t have children I still enjoyed these tips, especially the memory box & binder. Your children were so cute. In the UK most children wear a school uniform, so that takes the stress from what they wear each day.
With the soap please look at some videos as there are things you will need to keep in mind and remember to always use ppe. Quick tip: ignore 5min crafts, dont use cinnamon etc and make sure everything is cosmetic grade/safe And remember once a mould has been used for soap dont use it for cooking. But all that said it is so much fun, my kids joined me when i was making soap as my business. Fun and laughter was had by all
@stephaniehandler5346 it's not the kind of soap you'd use for cooking and if you're adding any colours or glitters etc you wouldn't want to have that in your system.
My kids took the bus - in winter I stood at the bus stop with them in pjs under snow pants and parka (we live in central Canada 🇨🇦). In warmer months I’d have jeans and a presentable t-shirt ready on a hook to put on once I had lunches packed and little people ready. I’m totally with you that you can wear anything you want under winter clothes!😁
Dear Cas, a mother of 2 grown ups here, I used to have 2 binders wirh their "work of art" when I tried to give them their binders they didn't want them and made me throw those away 🤦. Love from southamerica
Your kids are so adorable! I drop my son off at daycare. He's 19 months. And I'm t-shirt and gym shorts. Since I actually have to go in. 😂 If I didn't, I definitely wouldn't get dressed.
I'm a teacher! I would LOVE the apple jar, I have an apple collection in my office. Also, if you dropped off your kids looking like you described yourself, you would totally blend in with the other moms in our car line! P.S. if anyone wants to see what Cas looks like in the morning, she showed us in the video where she let us watch her day. (When she took the cat to the vet. My absolute favorite! "It's going to be a great day!")😂
This will be my first year dropping off as my youngest starts preschool. I’ve been a SAHM for almost 7 years now. Not a morning person either. My oldest I took to the bus stop in my leggings and just threw on a jacket last year but there’s something about commuting I feel like I will be making a little bit more of an effort in case I have to go inside too lol. I am going to miss my more lax summer routines for sure but am excited for them to start school again cause they are excited. Thank you for all the tips, I’m going to work on a command center and lunch making station soon!
Loved it! And the kids were were so cute and lots of fun like their mom! I think I'm going to try the apple jar craft with my great-grand! Thanks Cass!🍎
The kids look so adorable! And their little personalities, definitely can see mom's influence lol😂 and I am a messy hair but put together outfit kind of gal most days as I can't seem to get both done before I head out. Or if my hair is done nicely, my outfit is a dress I threw on with hopes that I look put together enough
I found you about a year ago or so. I am a fan. I’m reading a book that I bought some years ago. I started it but got distracted by life and AD/HD. I recently found it. Today I decided to start reading it today because I am in a quest to be more organized and tidy. I started by glancing at the index. Something seemed familiar. Until I started reading the introduction when the familiarity hit me with a ton of bricks 🧱 it’s your book!! This time I’m going to get through to the end of the book. Have a great day!
I'm the hot mess mum! I only have one daughter still at school and she's at college (Highschool in America) so I don't get out of the car, just drop and run. Last week I dropped her off while wearing cookie monster pyjamas but had my vans shoes on so kinda cool??? I just hope I never have a car accident or come across one and have to get out and help (I'm an ex nurse so could never just leave it to someone else unless emergency services were there already). So far so good!!
1. I feel like I'm winning at life since I have a lot of these systems in place 🎉 2. The library book system failed when I didn't think to look in the designated place.... for months! 2. I try to be semi presentable in the morning but I am a tuck and roll drop off mom: I love you, now get out! 😂
Oh wow! Wishing Izzy all the best at college 💗 I can't believe I've been watching your videos that many years 🙈 Thanks for all the amazing tips, inspo and laughs along the way Cas!! 👏😘
I have a hard time watching the old videos of my kids, because they are n their late 20’s. It makes me sad. I miss my little kids so much. However, I’m very happy with the adults they have become. One will marry this year and then one next year. Someday I’ll be a grandmother. I loved the apple jars.
My son would only eat peanut butter (no jelly) sandwiches for his lunch. Looking in my fridge for another idea, I put a Colby-Jack cheese stick on a hotdog bun. Yes, it's just a cheese sandwich, but he loved it. So now, I had 2 options for his lunches.
Your kids are adorable. Specially Milo! Thanks for the tips. I don’t have kids, but I see some things that will transfer to adults. I love the hanging pencil pail idea.
I love your videos you are so honest and genuine. I am not a morning person either! Luckily we lived in a neighborhood with a bus and my son rode the bus 90% of the time.
My kids are grown but I still enjoy all your videos! I often forward your videos to my great niece and others that have school aged children. Btw how did you lose your weight; you look awesome! What a transformation!!!
I used those baby outfit hangers that hold a shirt and pants to build my kid's outfits through about 4th or 5th grade. That way no matter what they picked it was already "Mom approved". 😃
hello, Cas. when you spoke about your kids' "sandwich sushi", I thought of this video. It talks about how when kids are called "picky eaters", it is often actually it's not about allergies or sensitivities at all. It could be about actual anatomical differences in the body. For example, my family has a collagen disorder that effects my whole head and digestive track. So, the bone structure in my face, my sinuses, my teeth, my tongue and top of mouth, my breathing, my throat and swallowing, and more are affected by my disability. One result is that I like to cut things into small bite sizes, so i don't have to do a lot of chewing. It hurts for me to chew. I also have some swallowing issues. All of this has nothing to do with being a "picky eater." But I thought of it that way before watching this video. so, maybe your children do, too. Oh Wow! I haven't seen your earlier vids yet. You are now an inspiration not just on decluttering but also a huge hope that one day I will get the weight off.
❤
Cas, your kids were so adorable! You are such an amazing mom and so creative.
Aw, thanks!
Think I'll make the soaps for Christmas as little gifts for friends.
I love that!
That candy apple jar is so very cute.
Glad you like it!
Can I just say, I DIED when I watched that tutorial of your kiddos, they literally made my entire day!! 💕💕💕
I’m so glad!
I love your sandwich-sushi demonstration. That’s how it usually goes when I’m showing my kids how to do something. “We put on a little jelly. That’s too much jelly. Don’t do that.” 😂
😅
I love the bin for the school year. And sort through it when the school year is ober. This will be my 3rd year doing it. Such a time saver.
Glad you like it!
Oh no, we are not all looking fabu at drop off. We all are looking like we did our best to get there on time! Some looking like we're going back to home for our morning coffee (sometimes my coffee is on my shirt ;) some looking like they are off to work.... Just a whole mix of people.
Cas, your videos always make me smile and feel encouraged/inspired. xoxo
“Candy Apple” 🍎 video was the most adorable thing ever!!!
Glad you think so!
Thanks for sharing!
Oh those kifs and the craft!!!! 😊❤ I remember those days and those tiny cuties. Your kids rock. Then and now. 😊
❤
Your kids were super cute! I miss those days.
I used to get sad when school started. I still do and mine are adults now.❤
❤
This makes my heart so happy!! My littles are starting school for the first time in just a couple weeks. Will definitely be going to walmart for the memory organizer and making those stinkin cute soaps! What a great idea for gifting to friends with littles too! Thank you so much❤️
You’re so welcome!
Time is a thief! Kids just keep growing up no matter what!
IKR?!
I'm new here so haven’t seen your older clips but wow! Congratulation on the weight loss 🎉
Thank you!
LOVE the binder idea!! There was a teacher who did this for the whole class last year. I used the idea from previous years and LOVED doing that. So easy k stead of an actual scrapbook for each year!!! I just hole punch all the art, papers and pictures 👍🏽🤦🏼♀️
It was great to see how the kids closets have evolved over the years.
😊
wow - so interesting to look-back...thank you for sharing P.S. your oldest daughter's humor reminded one of her mother
❤
I love the throwback of your little ones. Too cute! 🥹
❤
Even tho I don’t have children I still enjoyed these tips, especially the memory box & binder.
Your children were so cute.
In the UK most children wear a school uniform, so that takes the stress from what they wear each day.
Nice!
8:10 LOVE the lunch ideas! Thanks for sharing them! 😍
You’re welcome!
With the soap please look at some videos as there are things you will need to keep in mind and remember to always use ppe.
Quick tip: ignore 5min crafts, dont use cinnamon etc and make sure everything is cosmetic grade/safe
And remember once a mould has been used for soap dont use it for cooking.
But all that said it is so much fun, my kids joined me when i was making soap as my business. Fun and laughter was had by all
If you use it for soap doesn't it just wash out like if you use soap to clean it after baking?
@stephaniehandler5346 it's not the kind of soap you'd use for cooking and if you're adding any colours or glitters etc you wouldn't want to have that in your system.
❤
@Clutterbug I've made the mistake of getting hot soap on my arm lol, 🙃
My kids took the bus - in winter I stood at the bus stop with them in pjs under snow pants and parka (we live in central Canada 🇨🇦). In warmer months I’d have jeans and a presentable t-shirt ready on a hook to put on once I had lunches packed and little people ready. I’m totally with you that you can wear anything you want under winter clothes!😁
😊
My daughter is starting junior kindergarten this year so it's super helpful to learn from you on some tips!
I’m so glad!
I wish I had little kids again! This is sooo great & fun!❤
❤
The apple and soap diy crafts are adorable!! Thanks for sharing. ❤
You’re welcome!
Dear Cas, a mother of 2 grown ups here, I used to have 2 binders wirh their "work of art" when I tried to give them their binders they didn't want them and made me throw those away 🤦. Love from southamerica
It’s common. The items mean more to us than them.
Your kids are adorable! How fun to see them so young!
I can’t believe how big they are now.
Your kids are so adorable! I drop my son off at daycare. He's 19 months. And I'm t-shirt and gym shorts. Since I actually have to go in. 😂 If I didn't, I definitely wouldn't get dressed.
lol!
"It's going to be a great day!")😂
😊
This will be my first year dropping off as my youngest starts preschool. I’ve been a SAHM for almost 7 years now. Not a morning person either. My oldest I took to the bus stop in my leggings and just threw on a jacket last year but there’s something about commuting I feel like I will be making a little bit more of an effort in case I have to go inside too lol. I am going to miss my more lax summer routines for sure but am excited for them to start school again cause they are excited. Thank you for all the tips, I’m going to work on a command center and lunch making station soon!
You’re so welcome!
Loved it! And the kids were were so cute and lots of fun like their mom! I think I'm going to try the apple jar craft with my great-grand! Thanks Cass!🍎
You’re welcome!
Cas, you've done such great progress in video making! Those old footages really put everything in perspective ❤
Thanks!
It works!
Yay!
The candy apple jars are cute & your kids making them adorable!!! ❤️🍫🍎
❤
I love the part with your kids making the apple jars ❤
I’m so glad!
Love the soap idea. Will try this as my daughter hates soap.
Hey Cass. Great to look back. Now kids grown. Love the soap ideas. My son just graduated so gonna miss all pre school prep.😊👩🏫🚍
Time flies.
1. I feel like I'm winning at life since I have a lot of these systems in place 🎉
2. The library book system failed when I didn't think to look in the designated place.... for months!
2. I try to be semi presentable in the morning but I am a tuck and roll drop off mom: I love you, now get out! 😂
Hahaha!!!😅
Oh wow! Wishing Izzy all the best at college 💗
I can't believe I've been watching your videos that many years 🙈 Thanks for all the amazing tips, inspo and laughs along the way Cas!! 👏😘
You’re so welcome!
I have a hard time watching the old videos of my kids, because they are n their late 20’s. It makes me sad. I miss my little kids so much. However, I’m very happy with the adults they have become. One will marry this year and then one next year. Someday I’ll be a grandmother. I loved the apple jars.
❤
My son would only eat peanut butter (no jelly) sandwiches for his lunch. Looking in my fridge for another idea, I put a Colby-Jack cheese stick on a hotdog bun. Yes, it's just a cheese sandwich, but he loved it. So now, I had 2 options for his lunches.
😂
Your kids are adorable. Specially Milo!
Thanks for the tips. I don’t have kids, but I see some things that will transfer to adults. I love the hanging pencil pail idea.
Thanks!
Your kids are soooo cute and precious!!!
❤
I didn't watch yet but just wanted to comment THANK YOU for this! We start very soon and I love all of your tips and hacks as someone with ADHD!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
OMG...Get it? Get it? No one? Freaking adorable.
😊
I love your videos you are so honest and genuine. I am not a morning person either! Luckily we lived in a neighborhood with a bus and my son rode the bus 90% of the time.
I’ve got some bus stop end stories for you….😅
Look how far you have come with your weight loss! Well Done. Great video
Thanks!
Your kids were and are so adorable, just like their mama!!!
❤
Oh my gosh your kids are adorable
❤
Loved these tips and the 'previous-times' footage! ❤😂
I’m so glad!
I love the throwback to yesteryear 😂
I’m so glad!
Don’t forget about the dads! This could be applicable for the dads out there too :)
True!
Great video. I'm so not looking forward to school days. I hate preparing kids to school and going about in their school routines.
I get that.
Same! It's way too hectic and burns me out really fast. Summers are so nice and chill and manageable.
My kids are grown but I still enjoy all your videos! I often forward your videos to my great niece and others that have school aged children. Btw how did you lose your weight; you look awesome! What a transformation!!!
I had gastric bypass surgery.
