I have 4 children (including a set of twins!) and I never had a changing table! I had a waterproof pad and I'd change my baby (ies) on a bed or the sofa and even on the floor (carpet). Our house was way too small (cute! but small!) and there just wasn't any room for a changing table. There are many things that are "nice" to have for babies, but they are not a necessity.
I had a changing table, and I used it every day, for two kids. Now, I’d probably put a pad on a dresser, but that wasn’t a thing then…nearly 60 years ago.
Same here: 4 kids (first 2 are twins). I got a changing table that I never used- so I got rid of it and used my changing pad on the couch or the floor. I spent a surprising amount of time on the floor with my babies- less up and down for me when recovering from delivery etc. and less fear of them falling off of anything... everyone finds what works for them I guess.
I used my own dresser as a changing table for years with both babies, but definitely also used the bed, couch, and floor! Those waterproof pads are a MUST! I got them for changing the baby in areas away from the table, but I ended up only using 1 for that. The rest I stacked up on top of the changing pad and every time it would get soiled I could peel it off and still have a clean surface. With a fancy changing cover only, it was always getting washed and I was using blankets to cover the plastic. My oldest always had a mess and my youngest would pee on the changing table every time I'd take off her diaper. EVERY. TIME. 😂
Hint for you: instead of buying the peepee teepees, just keep a cloth diaper or baby wash rag on the changing table and throw it over “those” part. Works great and is washable! We also put a burp cloth or cloth diaper down on the changing pad in case of poo accidents. You wouldn’t believe the number of times a tiny bit got on it while we were changing diapers! Saved us from having to change the changing pad cover a million times!
@@LourdesEsmeralda my thoughts exactly :) Middle of the night, half-asleep going up those stairs a good couple of times... That nursery won't be used too much unless they sleep in the guest room. Which is also an option!
Ok so from this time 15:36 to this time 16:05 it freezes up. At first I thought it was my phone but I replayed it a couple times with the same result. Just wanted to let you know just in case 😊
I found I mainly used the couch or bed to change our babies with a thin, foldable changing pad underneath that I tucked into a basket with supplies kept close by. Such an exciting time for you guys!
Mom of three boys, grandma of three grandsons here. Boy energy is no joke. My six each have different personalities, but they would all wreak havoc on your beautifully curated house. Maybe plan where to store your breakable vintage items for a few years? Or how to incorporate brightly colored plastic toys into your design? At the very least, fill a lower cupboard in your kitchen with child-safe stackable, bang-able dishes. Kids love that.
Hi MaCenna! In Your little guy should actually sleep in the same room as you and Romeo until he’s 12-18 months old. That is what the most current data shows for best prevention of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and is what we recommend to parents of newborns here in Ohio. Also baby cams are great, but we do not recommend the use of wearable devices/monitors on the baby since they have not been shown to decrease SIDS and they can lead to less actual monitoring by and more anxiety in parents, leading to worse outcomes for everyone. As always though, please defer to what you and your PCP/family doc have discussed! Best wishes from this Ohio doc! ❤
I second this! I wouldn’t have catched on respiratory issues if my baby hadn’t been sleeping close to us at night! In winter in the prolonged sleeping position is when mucus can make breathing harder on babies.
My son went in his own room from a few weeks old because he snores!! The technology of today with CCTV and mattress monitoring is a life saver. It literally did.. it went off and we were alerted he stopped breathing.. had he been by side of me I fear I wouldn't have bothered with one. But it helps you switch off having the mattress monitoring on. ❤
We LOVE the silicone changing pad for ease of use and clean without extra laundry, and we do not change him anywhere else… but our house is small and we rarely bring baby upstairs. Nice to have everything in the same spot. You’ll find what works for you! Our boy is 5.5 months.
Lol when you started to open the easel it reminded me of when my daughter my granddaughter and me went shopping with my daughters new grandson and not one of us could figure how to open the stroller it was so hot that day here in Texas finally I said please let's just ask a new Mom 😂 funny memory

I totally used the sound machine on the go! When we were out and about and the baby was in the stroller, sometimes we used it to create white noise - esp when we were traveling, like in an airport.
Wow..30wks already! Doesn't seem like its already been that long! He's gonna be here before you know it.. so exciting😊 I loved the pretty rolling pin..i ave 2 made of gray & white marble, love them! Ohhh all the art with the Victorian ladies, with their beautiful dresses, looking so elegant! And the chunky ornate frames.. can't get enough! All the pretty little wood chairs at the yard sale! All these things I love to collect all the way on the other side of the US🫤 I love the ceramic mantle clock..i have several mantle clocks but only one ceramic one, the rest are wood. So excited for the kitchen update! Babies and kitchens.. so much excitement❤😊
The Pictures of the Victorian ladies are pages from Godey's Lady's Book, a very popular magazine with pictures of current fashions, among other things much like women's magazines today. There were recipes and articles on all kinds of subjects of interest to women, literature, etc. It was common to take pages to a dressmaker to order a new dress or use the pictures for inspiration for sewing your own, simplified version. My mother had a Victorian moment when she was first married and had decorated her and my dad's bedroom with mid-Victorian furniture (which was just at the turning point of being antiques - it was the early 50s)!! She had matted and framed several pages of Godey's fashion prints from one of the magazines right before and during the Civil War. I spent hours studying those dresses! She moved on and changed the look somewhat when I was still pretty young in the early 1960s by keeping the bigger pieces - bed, dresser, chest, tables and changing the decor items. I missed the Godey's prints and have always wondered what she did with them.
Wow that's awesome! I just love the Victorian era..i follow one last on Utube that had her home completely decorated in Victorian and its just stunning! I don't have one particular style..i love them all. But I'm just obsessed with those ladies in that era! So elegant❤
Oh yes MaCenna is on, that’s me not moving for the next 22 minutes!! I can’t believe you’re 30 weeks already!? It seems to have gone sooooo fast, that’s means it’s ONLY!! 10 weeks till baby boy is here. I have 3 daughters and each is a blessing.

Oh gosh MaCenna, this is so exciting for you and Romeo to have your sweet baby boy in another 10weeks, and it is so awesome that you are 30 weeks and usually it's 40 weeks or so when your baby is born. I remember when I had my kids and they both stayed in our bed with us. I also had a baby changing table that worked really well. Designing your babies room can be a lot of fun and I know that I had a lot of fun doing that for both of my children. I always love when you go flea market shopping and find so much awesome things. I am also so excited to see your kitchen renovation when it is completed. You also did a fabulous jog cleaning that rug, it does look so much more beautiful. Thanks so much for this great Vlog. I hope that you have a beautiful and blessed rest of your day, stay calm, sending love and hugs, bye!! 🥰😊😘🤗👋👍🙏🙏🙏👶🙆💟💕💜💜
I had room for changing table, we got for our first baby . ( I have 3) , but was not practical for me at all . I changed in any room or on couch/ bed/ rug . It’s good idea to have small caddy with diapers/ napkins/ cream or other items.
Wow, the difference in the rug after you cleaned it is remarkable! I am loving all of the baby content:) My niece is also 30 weeks along, so it’s fun to watch & listen to both of you. xoxo
You can raise the support for the baby crib mattress and move it up to the highest slot. That is one of the best ways to change a baby's diaper and clothes. Also you will find you are going to use your bed or the floor a lot! I don't remember using the changing table more than once or twice. Do you have a baby registry??
3:15 nice easel I haven’t been to a flea market in over 14 years because they’re all about 30 miles away or more. 20:36 the cozy wraps are nice to have
I used the Nanit breathing band when we transferred my daughter to her own room bc I had really bad post partum anxiety & it helped SO MUCH to see how she was breathing throughout the night
I wish I could find stuff like this in my area. I live in the uk and our charity shops aren’t good and any places that sell antiques in my area are super expensive I’m wanting to go check more places out though but further away because I love the vibes in the Texas cottage and LA house especially paintings and that I really wanna find some for good price and some sold wood furniture too. I’m trying to go away from my all white wood from Ikea I just need to go find some good stuff it’s just hard to know where to look
@@misslannie73 same here. I don’t really do charity shops because I’ve always been worried of bringing something unwanted home but I’m trying to see if anything worth it but it’s just junk in my area. We don’t as far as I know have any flea market type stuff. I don’t know of car boot sales are still a thing but from what I remember they never had anything like this going on. I’m in the north east and my village doesn’t even have a charity shop but my local town does think I’ll go check them out I think there’s a few and see what’s going on but I don’t have hope. Even videos where people show these cool Facebook market finds that’s just not it here. You’ll find Ikea and that’s really it 😂
MaCenna ..you are going to Mom's!!!! That is where you will go with the baby😘 And you will bring ALL the THINGS until you realize what you really need to bring. You will be fine Mama!
My mom started buying things to stay at her house. Diapers, wipes, clothes, and even baby gear like swings, changing pads, baby bjorn... And we didn’t need to take a plane to get there 😂 love her.
I can't believe your little boy is almost here! My son is 3 months now and the wrap is something we use daily. He recognizes it now and likes to be in it when he gets tired.
Our baby’s nursery is on a different floor as well - we did make our dresser into a temporary changing station. It worked out great. We also used a touch on/off dimmable nightlight for my nightstand for feedings and changing and that worked perfectly. Our first was with us for 6 months and our second for about 4 months.
A warning I had my first daughter exactly at 36 weeks and her sister 21 months later at 35 weeks. They were both good sizes - just under 8 lbs and fat! We were exact on my due date so anything can happen. Mine just were done in the oven and ready to come out, thank heavens! I was 2 weeks overdue and my mother never let me forget how hot August is and how uncomfortable she was. You just never know when “they” decide to arrive. At least June is a cool weather time in So Cal with June gloom.
I love your caddy for down stairs. I had one of those rolling carts that I pushed around. The wrap you got is PERFECT!!! As a lactation consultant: I want to mention if you’re planning on breastfeeding you may want to add to your caddy a cup with a long straw (you’ll be thirsty)snacks for your self (you’ll be hungry) and lots of pillows!!!
Diaper changing tip that worked for my son- wipe his tummy area just above diaper with baby wipe before taking his diaper off. It can trigger them to pee and then you worry less about a surprise stream from cold air exposure. Worked for me, but every little one is different!
Have you thought of moving upstairs with the baby and eventually make Romeos office into the babies room and put Romeos office downstairs in your existing bedroom space ? Just so you will be on the same floor and not so far away from your little boy....💞
I’ve always thought this! Especially since Romeo uses the laundry room often for his job. It would make sense to have his office/shared den right off the main living room vs. French doors peering into a primary bedroom….
30 weeks??? You’re basically having the baby tomorrow! My husband and I moved houses when I was 34 weeks and had our baby at 38 weeks haha wouldn’t recommend moving in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy
Did very similarly... With a toddler in tow... And our house was a repossessed rental before we bought it so had to have a LOT of cleaning and paint on almost every wall, etc. Grateful for friends and family but I wasn't happy to be banned from helping as much as I wanted.
We did something similar. Signed for our house on a Friday, moved Saturday, turned the keys over to our apartment Sunday after cleaning….with help of course, was induced Monday at 39 weeks. Eight months later got rid of the last boxes 2 weeks ago. 😂
The PCC flea market brought back lots of memories I used to sell there 18years ago it was always the cheaper place to go with the rose bowl being higher end stuff ,I moved to Scotland and shipped all my home stuff with us 🤣🤣so when I look at pieces I have I can say that was from yard sales or flea markets ,we are coming out in May for 4 weeks and will be visiting the flea markets and yard sales but sadly only buying anything that can fit in cases ,my husband is from LA and I’m Scottish 😊x
I love every video you post for us, MaCenna! You're always doing something interesting and even when it's "ordinary", it somehow just looks more fun watching you! We don't have flea markets like yours where I live so I have to go vicariously through you and I always enjoy a flea market, estate sale, thrift shop or yard sale junket with you! You looked adorable in both outfits and continue to be the prettiest mom-to-be! It's getting so close! I was wondering a couple of weeks ago when your next ultrasound would be. I'm excited to hear about this next one and hope you share the picture. Loved the baby purchases you shared and I love the caddy. Have you chosen a diaper bag yet? I'd be interested to see which way you go with that. You're so sensible with what you're buying.
You look beautiful. Hope you're taking some keepsake photos! I found just changing the baby on the rug was better than using a changing table. Less risk and cheaper!
I have been waiting for you to reno the hollow cavity behind wall where your dresser is and thinking, just wait until the baby starts out growing things, then she'll need to open that space for the storage! 😂 the smaller they are, the more stuff they need, and the more stuff you'll need to schlep around with you. 😅
Why don’t you turn the downstairs bedroom into an office/ spare bdr and then the upstairs into your bedroom? I don’t think you realize that you won’t want to be that far away from the baby.
You don't need a changing pad for your dresser downstairs, you'll end up using your bed, the couch, and the floor! I was adamant I didn't need some of the fancy stuff and it did not take long for us to throw money at a diaper warmer!!! That thing saved us, my oldest used to scream if I used cold wipes, especially in the middle of the night. Argh... Also, definitely put diapers in your top drawer upstairs, just stack them instead of laying on their sides. It'll be annoying to have to open the bottom and reach down into a basket. Another thing that helped us were kimono style shirts. We just got plain white Gerber ones, but it meant when there were accidents we could just change the pants multiple times a day and not the full onesie every time. Lots of blow outs in the beginning....
Yes! I'd forgotten kimono style shirts! They were wonderful, especially at first! I bottle fed, so blowouts were less of an issue, but they were just so nice and easy.
Honestly you will mostly do diaper changes on your bed and couch. The "changing stations" become a dumping ground in my experience. Congratulations - Home Stretch!!
It’s so fun to see your baby bump along side my daughter who is due 5/2/24. It’s our first grandchild. So, the excitement is so real. It makes me so happy that you and TH-camr Margo Roth are due after my daughter.
You are so beautiful pregnant and you are just glowing. I am so happy for you. You’re going to be the best mom and dad and of course your little doggy will be so happy too. It will love the baby just as much as you will. Thanks for sharing.
I love our nanit! My daughter is 2 we still use it well the camera not the sensors anymore and it’s awesome if u travel like if you go to Texas just plug it in and hook it up to your wifi and it’s good to go. We did use the bands I want to say for the first year or 9 months and it gave us peace of mind to be honest it works amazing. We also got the sleeper onesie that has the sensor pattern on it which was perfect also. We’re all different so you will get to see how it works for you.
Sounds like you're pretty well supplied for baby. Just remember to use a changing pad that has a belt on it, especially if you're using your dresser. Babies roll and you never know when they're going to start. Something I found to be helpful when traveling with baby (and you know your little one will be spending time with grandparents) is to have several cloth daipers on hand. They make great burp cloths and will provide a familiar smelll that will help comfort baby when you put him down to sleep in in an unfamiliar place. It also helps keep the sheets cleaner. I always laid my babies down on one of our own cloth daipers. They slept well everywhere. So glad things are going well for you .
I think you're the first person I've ever seen or heard who actually used the belt on a changing pad! Many of the ones used today are contoured and have edges so babies are less likely to roll. Mine was flat but I just kept one hand firmly on the baby and never bothered with the belt. I'm amazed, however, by the number of people who change their babies on beds, sofas, etc. I don't know why since I know there's a pad down, but somehow that skeeves me out! 🫣😬
Hahahah your cutie little easel was for some reason reminding me of a piece of furniture from beauty and the beast. Like when you brought it to the grass and its legs…there’s a carriage in beauty and the beast that takes the father away and it reminded me of that I think 🤣so random
From this point til the birth your bump will grow so much. I remember getting to about 35 weeks thinking I couldn’t get any bigger without popping and the last two weeks she grew so much! Enjoy being mobile while you can! The last bit I sat a lot as it was uncomfortable. So worth it though!
Embrace the chaos...when you have a little one in the house most things fly out the window so to speak. 😂 love the vibe of these videos. Looking forward to the next kitchen installment.

Muslin cloths work for everything and you can boil and bleach them (Milton of course)
We use wipeable changing pad covers and chux/incontinence pads! Incontinence pads are good on the go too
I throw the new diaper underneath and lay a wipe over the area. I have never once been peed on. 🤞🏼

Wow, time is flying by! Blessings to you MaCenna.
I used my dryer top for a changing table downstairs.
Me too! I’m in Worcestershire and everything is charity shop tat or overpriced antiques out of my price range xx
You’ll find Ikea and that’s really it 😂
Hooray for a flea market shopping video! 🥰
Watching you clean that rug was SO SATISFYING!!!! 😀It really got clean!
I can't believe your little boy is almost here! My son is 3 months now and the wrap is something we use daily. He recognizes it now and likes to be in it when he gets tired.
OMG I can’t believe your 30 weeks. You’re always so upbeat you make me HAPPY watching whatever video. So exciting!!!!!! Take care 🌸🌸
now my day is complete !!!
You looks so cute in your market outfit! I have an easel like that! It’s a slightly darker brown, but it unfolds exactly like that!
My goodness time has flown. He’ll be here before you know it! So excited for you and your family!!🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yay! Perfect timing!!! God bless , John 3:16
I have that easel 😊!!! I've had it for 18ish years. It's been wonderful to bring out and be able to pack it away. ❤
when I had my 2 children, I only had a crib and a small chest to keep the clothes in. I always changed my boys on the bed. this was in the 1960's Barb
So excited for you guys. Can't wait for baby and to see kitchen
Okay Macenna! With the bonus rug cleaning video. Lol so soothing
Just praying that these photo shoots are for new candles!! I love my ellori so much, but it's almost out and I'm ready for new scents!!!
I ended up using the pad on the bed. The 1st i did use a table, and somewhere during 4 babies, i found it easier.
The easel is from Amazon/ Michael’s. I have the same one and it’s lasted for years!! Super sturdy for the I think $25/ $30 I paid for it 🙏🏾
We have the nanit and the light! We love them 💕
Time is flying! Baby boy will be here in no time. ❤
Have you thought of moving upstairs with the baby and eventually make Romeos office into the babies room and put Romeos office downstairs in your existing bedroom space ? Just so you will be on the same floor and not so far away from your little boy....💞
It's been suggested a million times by all the experienced mommas.
I’ve always thought this! Especially since Romeo uses the laundry room often for his job. It would make sense to have his office/shared den right off the main living room vs. French doors peering into a primary bedroom….
Then guests don’t have to use their en-suite bathroom on the main floor!
Yassss.... I've been waiting for my Tuesday MaCenna all day!!!! ❤❤❤
Been waiting for the upload , looking forward to seeing all the things xx
Me too! Don't do it! Bad idea!
Same, moved to another state and the next day I had my son.
We did something similar. Signed for our house on a Friday, moved Saturday, turned the keys over to our apartment Sunday after cleaning….with help of course, was induced Monday at 39 weeks. Eight months later got rid of the last boxes 2 weeks ago. 😂
I pay 3$ for that picture frame..
I’m excited for the next candle reveal!
That wash basin would make a sweet downstairs changing table ❤
The giant fern is everything!!! If that is what that is? I’m from the northwest so u can see why I’m amazed 😂
I am so jealous of all the flea markets you have in your area.
You look beautiful. Hope you're taking some keepsake photos! I found just changing the baby on the rug was better than using a changing table. Less risk and cheaper!
You’re looking so healthy, glowing and beautiful. Only 10 weeks left wow! 🤩😍🐶
I have been waiting for you to reno the hollow cavity behind wall where your dresser is and thinking, just wait until the baby starts out growing things, then she'll need to open that space for the storage! 😂 the smaller they are, the more stuff they need, and the more stuff you'll need to schlep around with you. 😅
Rug cleaning is so satisfying.
Love you all❤❤❤
Why don’t you turn the downstairs bedroom into an office/ spare bdr and then the upstairs into your bedroom? I don’t think you realize that you won’t want to be that far away from the baby.
Use the frame as a frame for your light switch cover in the kitchen!
I have a feeling that while it might look pretty, it would be beyond annoying pretty quickly!
You should have gone to Round Top!!! All of the things you were looking for are there!
Hi, I’m soo glad to see you looking soo well, you are blooming like a flower 🌺. Love you 🥰. Xxx 😘
Embrace the chaos...when you have a little one in the house most things fly out the window so to speak. 😂 love the vibe of these videos. Looking forward to the next kitchen installment.
We always just change on the bed, floor, in the bassinet. We had a changing pad and stopped using it after a month.
You should get one of those changing baskets for the baby ❤️
